Anyone have a septum piercing?

I'm 42 and I want one. I have a nostril and a lot of ear piercings and I think this is what I'm going to do next. Am I too old? Can you really flip them up to hide if necessary?

I don't but my friend does and she flips hers. I really like them but consider myself too fat and unsymmetrical to get one. Generally not attractive or cool enough. Wonky nose. If you can make it look good go for it!

nancy75 · 19/12/2023 21:33

Dd has one & yes you can hide it

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 20/12/2023 10:38

Anyone regret getting it?

If you regret it you can just whip it out can't you

NotHooray · 20/12/2023 10:48

I'm nearing 30 and had it done not so long ago. I love it! Once it healed I changed it to a slightly more dainty piece of jewellery.

DaftyInTheMiddle · 20/12/2023 10:51

I'm fat, wonky, uncool and getting ever older and I love mine. Seems like I shouldn't but fuck what others think. Do you want it? You can always remove it if you hate it, the beauty of piercings.

Heyhoherewegoagain · 20/12/2023 10:53

Why would you want to look like a bull with a ring through your nose?

I'm not against piercings and have a good few, but this is what septum piercings always make me think of

Confused118 · 20/12/2023 10:56

love bullrings - get one!

you can flip them up but the ones that are a smooth ring look really nice, i don't think i've ever seen someone look bad in one

Squit · 20/12/2023 10:57

I had one.

it was okay.

i found I had to adjust my style slightly as it made some outfits lean slightly too butch/alternative for my liking.

but when I finally took it out there was no visible scarring which is a plus.

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 20/12/2023 11:16

It's true, I can just take it out. I'm not a fan of the horseshoes but I like that you can flip them up. I would want a delicate ring.

Thanks for the insights. I think I might do it next year.

I have one with a thin hoop, and also a thin hoop in my nostril. I forget it's there to be honest! Didn't hurt at all. Would recommend!

Throthetowelin · 20/12/2023 11:52

Just do it today op! Time to heal a bit over Christmas? YOLO

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 20/12/2023 12:01

My daughter has one. She can flip hers up but it was tricky at first. Piercer advised some people can't as it depends on shape of your nose which they don't know until it's pierced.

She got through the whole of y11 at school and no one ever realised. Now she's y12 she can wear it down.

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 20/12/2023 12:06

I would do it today but I've got 4 piercings currently healing so I want to give them a bit of time to calm down 🙂

That's awesome that noone noticed @Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky I would probably need to hide for work

I used to have one and I really miss mine! They heal really easily - better than my eyebrow piercing that's just developed bumps :(

strawberrysea · 20/12/2023 12:14

I have mine done but don't wear it anymore. I worked in hospitality at the time so had it flipped up from day one without any issues.

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 20/12/2023 12:15

Weird question but does it tickle when flipped up? I'm worried it will drive me mad!

I was amazed. - I agreed she could have it done on the condition that if it was found and she was made to remove she didn't argue.

When she got it done she could not flip it up straightaway and got quite panicked at the thought of taking it out.....piercer said it's actually quite hygienic to have it flipped up during healing as you are not touching it. She generally only took it down at weekends anyway then.

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 20/12/2023 20:11

@FunkyMonks what kind of jewellery do you wear in it?

OP posts:
FunkyMonks · 20/12/2023 20:14

Just plain ring in it at moment I would like to get one with gems but at moment I'm liking the simplistic look.
