Any thoughts on this skirt below? In my mid 40's and it is the style that suits me but worried it may be too young!!

I found this at John Lewis & Partners. What do you think? https://www.johnlewis.com/hush-penny-ribbed-knit-midi-skirt-midnight-navy/p109243671?tmad=c&tmcampid=7&sshare=jlappioss_Y29tLmFwcGxlLlVJS2l0LmFjdGl2aXR5LkNvcHlUb1Bhc3RlYm9hcmQ=

I like the style a lot - hard to find now, and one that suits me. I really hate the colour though.

Ponks · 17/12/2023 20:08

I love the style but because it reminds me of what I wore in the 90s!

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 17/12/2023 20:54

It reminds me of a slightly longer, navy Merino wool version from Hobbs which had small kick pleats at the back which I wore with a matching short, fitted cardigan jacket. That must have been late 1990s early 2000s ?

I still have jacket. Skirt stopped fitting a while back. I got so much wear out of them.

I can't begin to imagine how you think it might be too young for you. (Or that Hobbs these days would have a pure Merino version)

LunaTheCat · 18/12/2023 02:37

It’s gorgeous!…if I was slim enough and tall enough I would wear ( and I am 59)

Mummyoflittledragon · 18/12/2023 05:17

What do you mean too young op? It’s fine. That skirt would be fine for a woman of any age.

Sususudio · 18/12/2023 07:34

Indeed, fine for any woman of any age or build.

thebear1 · 18/12/2023 08:41

I'm 52 and would happily wear it.

StarlightLady · 18/12/2023 09:44

I agree it’s not a skirt that is tied to any age group. I hope you are a size 10 though OP, because it’s all they have left.

Blah12345678999 · 18/12/2023 11:56

I love this skirt, sad that is seems sold out 😕 xx

yumscrummy · 18/12/2023 12:32

Thanks everyone, I ordered it. Was concerned that it was too fitted but feel more confident about it now!

I wasn't quite sure what to expect of a skirt that you have to be young/slim/tall enough to wear. And not only that, but it was in a tricky colour.

I think I must have the wrong link...

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/12/2023 17:24

I’m little and a curvy size 14, but find this style quite flattering on me. Really wish there were more of these around.

Tanaqui · 18/12/2023 18:02

I'm wearing a black sparkly one from esprit rn which I think looks good!

Teledeluxe · 18/12/2023 19:49

Reminds me of a wheelie bin bag.

Because bin bags are always blue and knitted? Right.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/12/2023 20:04

@Tanaqui Thar sounds great.

I’ve got a black CK one. This thread has inspired me to wear it tomorrow.

Yhrist · 18/12/2023 20:09

I ordered and sent back that skirt, it doesn’t look IRL like the picture. I’m older than you and I loved the style on the model. But it’s really thick wool IRL and looked really bad on me! I have a dress from Hush that has a knitted bottom half like I thought the skirt would be which I love so I had high hopes.

Tanaqui · 19/12/2023 16:05

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie did you wear it? And if you don't mind sharing (for inspiration!), what did you put on top?

I didn’t because I totally forgot! I tend to wear it with a black turtleneck thin merino jumper, or with a slim-fit top and then slouchier blazer. Tights and heeled ankle boots.

HardcoreLadyType · 19/12/2023 17:11

I’m 55 and wear a lot of stuff from Hush.

If it suits your body shape, go for it, it’s lovely!

CrapBucket · 19/12/2023 18:37

It’s lovely but being hand wash only puts me off.

EllaPaella · 19/12/2023 18:39

I love the skirt but would find navy hard to work with in winter. Would look wrong with black tights so would need bare legs.

highlandcoo · 19/12/2023 18:48

I've ordered it .. thanks OP! Collecting tomorrow.

@EllaPaella I agree balck wouldn't be good with navy. I have navy knee high suede boots and navy leather chunky ankle boots so hopefully that'll work.

I think tan looks good with navy too.

MrsElsa · 19/12/2023 18:52

Go for it OP! I'm late 30s. I'm wearing it with mid calf DM knock offs so only half an inch of leg showing. Black leggings/tights. It's super comfy and goes with everything, comfier than jeans and warmer too! Looks great with a bomber jacket!

I ignore hand wash only and dry clean only instructions. Gentle was at 30 is usually fine.
