Help- YSL/Polene Christmas gift

I need help! I’m sending my partner Xmas ideas. I’ve fallen in love with this ysl wallet but unsure if it’s really worth paying so much for a wallet anymore with Apple Pay etc.

I think I’m between the wallet and the polene bag!

Yes, I’m leaning towards the polene too! I just am drawn to the wallet for some reason and I don’t know why!

It's nice but I agree what with contactless pay, I personally have less use for a wallet. And I'd feel I got more for my money if I spent the money on a handbag? I love Polene bags, they look interesting. Enjoy choosing anyway Smile

I don't use a conventional wallet anymore. After all my card details were stolen (Still not sure how!) I use a rfid case for all my cards. I have a ysl card case that wore really badly. Slack card slots after 1 yr of use. Used carefully never over stuffed. Polene gets my vote. The craftsmanship on my mini uno is really good. But maybe check some of the recent Polene reviews. Some people have had a bad time with the brand.

Polene bags are gorgeous, but I've heard a lot of cautionary tales about their customer service being awful.

Definitely agree with this!

Kill me now, but I see the crossbody ysl bag all the time and screams tacky with the logo to me. But then I don’t like blingy logos.

I have 3 polene bags and the quality is amazing.

I also love that they are understated and don’t have logo splashed all over them.

I recently bought a Polene Dix and was a bit worried beforehand about the quality as I'd read some bad reviews. Needn't have worried, the quality is fantastic, not a stitch wrong in it and delivery was fast (I'm in the EU though). Go for the Polene!

I’ve just purchased a Polene bag last week, had a thread on the go for it too as couldn’t decide between styles. Quality is great, looks beautiful, #9 full size is my next purchase so definitely go with the polene!
I also don’t have use for a wallet now, a small card holder and bonus is it takes less space in a small bag.

I actually quite like the wallet, but the polene bag is a thing of beauty-not a brand I’m familiar with but it’s now well on my radar!
No one sees your wallet so on that basis I’d go for the bag

The bag! Wallets just don’t get used much anymore and the clutch looks like something you get free with a bottle of perfume in my opinion.

Definitely the bag.... it's lovely. The wallet looks a bit like a knock off in the pictures, and the pouch just seems a bit pointless ! It would really get on my nerves not having some kind of wrist strap.

I'll go against the grain and not write off the card holder. They are useful to carry around the minimal items - diving licence, debit card, credit card, £10 note. They are pretty timeless, last well, and you will get such good use out of it. Of course you can buy them far cheaper, but if you can afford it then it might be a lovely treat.

YSL Pouch I think is a little naff, sorry, and I think it is neither particularly attractive or functional.

The Polene bag is stunning, and I have a Polene bag myself which is very well made. However, it feels very current, not necessarily a bad thing, but in 5 years you might not love it so much and feel it is not that trendy. Not the case with the cardholder.

I have both a YSL card holder & a Polene bag so I might not be much help here OP but I use Apple Pay but still get lots of use from my card holder, mine has a small pocket for coins so I just use it as a normal, small wallet.

i don’t have that exact Polene bag but was considering it until lots of YouTube reviews said the opening is really small and awkward so put me off.

Have you looked at Demellier or Paris64 for similar price point bags?

I think blatant logos are tacky and influencery. The Polene bag is much better and Coach are nice too. I don’t think you can go wrong with either.

I love that but all the colours are out of stock! I’m going to look on YouTube at reviews for the polene bags and probably go for one of those.

I have that exact bag and I love it but it's worth knowing that the opening is very small, as in you have to put your phone in one end at a time and I have to really wriggle them to get my overear headphones in. So it's a great bag for when you're travelling light, but you can't get much that is big in there.

I have a couple of Polene bags and they are lovely. Never had any problems with their customer service. I don't like stuff with the name of the brand on it so the YSL ones would be out for me.

Will the Neuf date? It seems to be the Polene bag that everyone wants and it is a distinctive shape. That said, if you truly love it and will wear it even when its 15 minutes are over then get that.

I have that little Polene bag in tan. I love its quirky shape and the quality is fab. I've just bought a Beri in a stone colour and I love it too. I thought they were excellent value for money and the leather won't wear too badly (unlike the smooth APC bags which are a nightmare). I totally agree that the opening of the no9 is small and awkward though, and I only have a small iPhone. That's the only downside I'd say. In Paris all the girls I saw had the numero dix but I can't do zips, unfortunately as I'd be buying that one otherwise. Their wallets look good too btw!

I think polene bags look dated already. The leather looks beautifully soft though and the quality great.
