Happy (belated) Christmas - so busy yesterday there was barely time to check in and I was tired after wearing my tiara all day. 😂 I thought Louis looked lovely in his tartan trousers at the walk yesterday. I did also like Kate’s knitting needle hat.

Maireas · 26/12/2023 08:03

Thanks for the link, @BritneyBookClubPresident - it's Highgrove scarves all around, then! We can wear them with our green coats 👍

Lots to see yesterday! I really liked Kate's blue outfit, thought she looked chic and cosy. Loved those tartan trousers on Louis - very jaunty!
I wonder if Anne's boots are Fairfax and Favor country boots?
I liked Louise's outfit but not so much Sophie's. It made her look heavy when she's not.

LadyEloise1 · 26/12/2023 08:47

I don't like the colour mix of the Highgrove scarf so I'll pass on it but thank you for the link @BritneyBookClubPresident

Maireas · 26/12/2023 08:48

Yes, I liked Kate's blue outfit as well, as ever, the fit was spot on. It was nice to see Mia Tindall holding hands with Louis, the young cousins are obviously friends, which is lovely.

I actually did get to wear a tiara yesterday, one of my grand daughters 😂😂

hopeishere · 26/12/2023 10:40

I thought Kate and Anne and Sophie looked super. Lady Louise's coat looked too big. Camilla debuting a new/old brooch of the late Queen's.

I do find this one of the oddest royal watcher events though!

Do they do it in different colourways?

OP posts:
BritneyBookClubPresident · 26/12/2023 11:46

On website just one colour. I was not keen! Plus £105 from memory so expensive

Maireas · 26/12/2023 11:58

£115, ultra fine merino wool, made in Scotland.
A quality product! They don't seem to do other colourways though.

😂 watching the Behind the scenes documentary and KC said to the Archbishop you have to ram it on - meaning the crown.

eggandonion · 27/12/2023 00:01

Louis is lovely in his snazzy jacket. The cousins together are very cute. We are far from relations but my kids always enjoyed meeting cousins when we were with them.

Vitriolinsanity · 27/12/2023 00:07

I particularly like to see the next gen Wales/Tindall cousins.

I feel Zara especially is a mainstay for the olders, in a world where people need people that they can trust.

Mia Tindall is a chip off the old block.

Vitriolinsanity · 27/12/2023 00:09

And I covet Catherine's blue boots.

That documentary was fascinating. I highly recommend it for any of you on the thread who haven't seen it. I was able to watch it on YouTube here in the States.

The most interesting part to me was that Philip Treacy made the velvet caps that fit inside the crowns and that it is the sturdy base of the cap that actually keeps the crown on the head. That must also help with the distribution of the weight of the crown.

Sisterpita · 27/12/2023 08:02

You also got to see exactly how huge some of the jewels in the crowns really are.

That bit was fascinating, and the fact that they based the insert on the original from King Edward's Crown. Old tech is often the best!

justasking111 · 27/12/2023 09:53

I've recorded this. Looking forward to watching it

Maireas · 27/12/2023 10:06

I thought it was fascinating. The skill of the jewellers and the needleworkers in particular was very impressive.
The sapphire in the crown belonged to Edward the Confessor, the pearls to Mary, Queen of Scots. Plus,of course, the Cullinan diamond 💎 Amazing.

I hadn't really grasped how enormous that diamond was until I saw it in his hand.

It was fascinating - that embroidery was beautiful

wideawakeinthemiddleofthenightagain · 27/12/2023 20:38

I've been spending far too much time thinking about gift giving at Sandringham. Did King Charles give everyone a scarf? Or do they do some sort of Secret Santa and King Charles pulled out Princess Anne, Tim Laurence and Lady Louisa and thought "I know what two 70+ people
and a 21yo would like for Christmas - identical scarves". Did he feel really chuffed that Princess Anne actually wore something new? When did Lady Louisa realise her scarf was the same? Do they all open presents in front of each other or in smaller nuclear family groups?

Maireas · 27/12/2023 20:41

So many questions. None of us know. At least it wasn't sponsoring a goat somewhere, or a Dove bath set. (disliked Christmas gifts may differ).

SenecaFallsRedux · 27/12/2023 20:47

I think some of the Chattos were wearing the scarf as well. My guess is that everybody got one. Maybe Charles left little welcome bags in everyone's room with a scarf and other assorted goodies.
