As in previous years, this a thread for those opening Beauty Advent Calendars not covered by specific calendar opening threads (though also happy for contents of those to be shared here too).

As previously, it will also be fun to hear about other calendar openings - food, jam, socks anyone?

Please do not include spoilers before 7am on the relevant day. Please also avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance.

I’ll be opening the Vogue and Selfridges calendars this year. Really looking forward to Day 1.

@OchonAgusOchonOh thank you! I have a silk pillowcase too and that would seriously piss me off. One for the next school raffle it seems!

TragicMuse · 15/12/2023 12:43

The LF candle mentioned above by @Dailymash. It's not for me, the smell is a bit sickly and very artificial in my nose!

Ciate is yet another pink. Called Flamingo. It is very flamingo-ey!!

@Nowtbettertodo re the retinol it's actually fairly strong so if you feel the 'sting' stop using it till that goes away then use it again. I tend to sting around the side of my eyes. I only use retinol twice a week and find that's enough to smooth my skin and ward off wrinkles in my Middle age post menopausal skin

Thanks for the heads up! I will use sparingly and see how I get on x

Day 15

Vogue: A decent candle from a brand I’d not heard of . Like the smell, so happy with this.

Selfridges: A body oil from Costa Brazil. Not something I use, so one of the few DoDs in Selfrdiges for me.

I love body oils in the winter…so would be an excellent drawer for me…I bought one of the Costa Brazil oils from Liberty with my BD earlier this year.
Candle does look good..nice to include a different brand.

SoloCat · 15/12/2023 19:12

I haven’t posted updates due to the fact I ended up emptying my calendars in one go. I didn’t want to post anything that may spoil people’s enjoyment.
Great to see all of the other calendar offerings…especially the tights 😁

Day 15 Boots No 7 Restore and Renew

A hydration mask

I really liked this product and it influenced my decision to buy the AC.

ACAC2023 · 15/12/2023 20:15

I know this isn’t the right place but the M&S 12 Days I’d Christmas thread is full. After only getting a free pastry last week, I have this offer on my Sparks today, so wanted to say, check for further offers, I didn’t get an email, though they do have something saying they have had a draw and given out more stuff

Doubleraspberry · 15/12/2023 21:29

Maybe you won in the draw! I don’t have any offers or an email from M&S so clearly no luck for me.

HollyGolightly4 · 15/12/2023 21:40

Ooo congratulations @ACAC2023 I had 30p off a cup of tea 😂

Mirrormeback · 15/12/2023 21:51

@Cyclingmummy1 oh that's good to know in which case I'll remember to use it when my skin gets ridiculously dry every so often in a way it never has before.

I looked up the reviews and some people use it as an overnight moisturiser when they get dry patches so I'll try that too.

Mirrormeback · 15/12/2023 21:53

@ACAC2023 sadly I didn't get that offer which I would have loved. I did get the free atomiser offer but didn't get round to collecting it and they've all gone now

AprilLady · 15/12/2023 21:59

No good M&S offers for me either, sadly.

@SoloCat I’ll give the body oil a try at some point, I might be pleasantly surprised.

@Mirrormeback my skin felt really soft after using it. I was disappointed when it was finished.

Harrods Day 16 is Acqua Di Parma Bagno alla Colonia bath and shower gel. I find some of the Acqua Di Parma scents too heavy but actually I like this one so will enjoy using it in the bath over Christmas.

No7 lift and luminate is a serum. I'm pleased with this calendar so far, a couple of products I know I like, a few to try and a couple of make up products that I've given to a colleague with teenage girls.

AprilLady · 16/12/2023 09:18

Day 16:

Vogue: Sample sizes again, but from a £££ brand Cle de peau, and four all in the same box - a cleanser, a moisturiser, a serum and an SPF which is at least a nice combination of usable products.

Selfridges: Bath salts from brand new to me Anatome, and the Vida Glow collagen supplements. The instructions for the bath salts say to use with an anatome bath oil - would so much rather have had a sample of the oil than the Vida Glow in the box.

Boots Premium - shiseido moisturiser. It's small which is not surprising as it is pricy. Looking forward to trying it.

Day 16 Diptyque: La Droguerie odour removing candle (votive).

I didn't think this would be very exciting but I love the scent. It's a lovely fresh/green spring/summer scent and I can see myself using this as a day to day candle during spring and summer :)

TragicMuse · 16/12/2023 10:16

LF is 3 sachets of Retinol under eye patch by Beautypro. A brand new to me. They're for brightening apparently!

Ciate is called Latte Love. It's a pale beige/taupe. I think it's more like new plaster! Wearable but they've already included something really similar so this might go into a stocking or on eBay.

Not a bad day, not an amazing one.

A very full box in space NK today which I wasn’t expecting after getting three full size lip products yesterday too! Today was three sets of 111 skin rose gold eye gels, a 50ml Eve Lom rescue mask and a small jar of biossance rose moisturiser. Excited to try all of them!

ACAC2023 · 16/12/2023 14:30

I was shopping today and noticed Fenwicks has 10 of the 12 days of Christmas Boxes for sale at full price £165, surely they must realise, nobody is going to pay this now?

Puravida23 · 16/12/2023 14:43

OK Advent was the Revolution Chocolate Caramel sleeping mask which smells gorgeous. The design of the advent is driving me nuts though . It is the old style perforated and whilst wrestling with getting today’s day out I managed to dislodge 2 other days which fell out (no idea from where) . I am now debating whether to just open the whole thing at once . To be honest I debate this every day anyway but this feels like a sign particularly now I know I have 2 days to come with nothing in

H&B has now veered off into the frankly dotty: we have a little tub of 'seahorse plankton+' (?!) moisturiser. No idea, and I had no clue that seahorses were meant to be moisturising.
