Beauty Advent Calendars 2023 Part E - Last Buying Thread Till Doors Open

Roll up, roll up for bargain spotting and anticipation.

This is a thread to discuss the buying of beauty calendars and not the opening of them. There may be general discussion about contents of a calendar but please do not share information about what is behind a specific door you've opened. Thank you

Still recovering here from my fury that Glossybox cancelled my order for my DD who was looking forward to it so much 😭. I’d ordered it almost a month ago and they only told me yesterday. Any other recommendations at a similar price point please?

I caved and bought Liberty today. Saw it in store and had a bonkers moment.

Ha - did you walk out with it or buy online? Have visions of you staggering down Regent Street with it.

@Stoic123 I was already well laden after a trip to the 4th floor Christmas Shop so went for the home delivery option - it's a beast!

UncomfortableSofa · 22/11/2023 22:42

If anyone is looking for one for a tween, the H&M one is full of face masks, bath bombs etc. £29 I think. All stuff she'll actually use.

diamondsandrose · 22/11/2023 22:43

Reporting for duty !

MathsFiend · 22/11/2023 22:47

Not an advent calendars, but Charlotte Tilbury has some great deals at the moment. Quite a few items buy 1 get 1 free including magic cream. Some other sets with 30% off. Plus, free gifts with spend. And if you are in the loyalty scheme, you can also get the free item with spend for that too. I bought a few things, got to over £180, and so got the free lipstick, eyeshadow palette and blusher and I also got a free push up lashes mascara.

Thanks for the new thread @Stoic123

Not a calendar, but CEW have just released an edit for the first time in a while:

https://cewuk.co.uk/product/cew-2023-beauty-awards-edit/

It’s not cheap, but I think it’s an excellent selection of products.

Thank you for the link.
They had a really nice one last year around £80 I think, dithered and regretted not buying it.
Very tempted but will hold off for a bit.

CaveMum · 22/11/2023 23:11

Thanks for the new thread. I absolutely should not buy any more stuff, but you know if there’s a discount to be had….

WeAreBorg · 22/11/2023 23:16

Thank you for the new thread!

Twinsandsome · 22/11/2023 23:30

@NeedingCoffee why did they cancel?

IntheSnowySnowyMountains · 22/11/2023 23:34

Hello, I'm a bit late to the party! Have really enjoyed reading bits of previous threads. Have had Liberty, Look Fantastic and M&S in the past.

This year I bought '25 days of clean beauty' from Naturissimo. Don't know if anyone else bought it? You get 25 individually wrapped items and I used them to refill my favourite old Liberty calendar. A few items didn't fit so I have made a lucky dip out of them in a nice toiletry bag for the first few days. It was £95 and I think the value is in the £400s - but it's all stuff I'm likely to use. I didn't want too much make up and can't wear eye makeup at all so was put of by all the flashy eyeshadow palettes!

I'd secretly like an expensive one so may yet cave. Also quite fancy Rituals, as their stuff seems nice but quite expensive, so would be nice to get a chance to try smaller sizes,

Branster · 23/11/2023 00:36

@IntheSnowySnowyMountains Naturisimo was on my very short shortlist.
I'm so glad you have it!
I like all the items (apart from pillow spray - I don't understand them) and it is a very good price.
Glad it's sold out as it helps me not buying.

Checking in looking for inspiration

Checking in

Helluvawomen · 23/11/2023 04:24

I have Jo Malone, LF and the bridal beauty one. Roll on December

Piccalino3 · 23/11/2023 06:17

I already have Space NK and OK for Jadvent (plus a marzipan and craft advent!), but I've wanted the By Terry advent for years - just to try their stuff really. I've seen it at Lookfantastic for £137 - really hoping it gets reduced further in the coming weeks...

Lovethatforyouhun · 23/11/2023 06:57

Yes @Piccalino3 ive saved By Terry too on my LF wish list. Ive only had the blotting powder and rose lip balm before but loved both products.

Biscuitburglar · 23/11/2023 06:57

Latest in Beauty now reduced to £125!

PomsRun · 23/11/2023 07:02

@puravida23 thank you for the latest in beauty alert. The free box code didn’t seem to work. I ordered anyway, it’s a good buy !

NeedingCoffee · 23/11/2023 07:12

They said they’d sold out. I hadn’t realised when I ordered (and paid) that they didn’t have stock to fulfil their orders. I see it’s not uncommon for advent calendars but it’s very poor all the same 😡

edit - that’s supposed to be in reply to the person asking why Glossybox cancelled - the quote doesn’t seem to have come through…

RazorstormUnicorn · 23/11/2023 07:17

I went to have a look at Latest In Beauty but I still can't justify it. I already have blusher that will last me two years, a nearly full body shop cleanser and with my hair the last thing I want is a thickening shampoo and conditioner! I'm also using a brow gel and have a spare though not sure it does much!

SwordBilledHummingbird · 23/11/2023 08:03

I could still be tempted by a big reduction but I'm overall happy with my one calendar this year. I've really struggled to get through my stash this year and it's largely the result of having four advent calendars last year (plus I got DH a men's one too).

Lovethatforyouhun · 23/11/2023 08:08

The reply function doesn’t actually work on mumsnet @NeedingCoffee which is helpful. Will avoid Glossybox then never used them before.

pinkchampagne1 · 23/11/2023 08:14

No further reductions yet so not hopeful of any mega BF bargains.

Fairyliz · 23/11/2023 08:30

Not an advent calendar but the bridal beauty company have their charity boxes back in stock.
I’ve had a couple in the past and been very pleased with the items I have received. There have been a few things that I didn’t want so managed to sell on eBay and cover half of the cost of the box.
