Roll up, roll up for bargain spotting and anticipation.

This is a thread to discuss the buying of beauty calendars and not the opening of them. There may be general discussion about contents of a calendar but please do not share information about what is behind a specific door you've opened. Thank you

Total bargain on cult beauty... Spend £160 and get the goodie bag with the full size Bioeffect, also 20% discount and a free Dennis gross acid peel duo set (30ml each) worth £102. I had an email about the Dennis Gross peel so check
Mail. Plus just under £10 in reward points!

SwordBilledHummingbird · 21/12/2023 14:51

@CinnamonCoffee How did you get 20% off? I just found a code for 20% off but when I add it the goody bag and extra freebie disappear.

MiaN · 21/12/2023 14:52

what is the code for 20% off.

I love the Space NK fragrance advent. I will be buying it again next year for sure.

CinnamonCoffee · 21/12/2023 16:38

Code is Affnew

CountryCob · 22/12/2023 15:34

I just bought a yankee candle advent for £10 in the shops today, interesting to hear everyone's thoughts about next. Maybe John Lewis or Sephora for me depending on contents.....

BuyStuff · 23/12/2023 10:48

I’m loving my bargain White Stuff socks, but agree that the Ciate one is amazing. I’m never going to have to buy nail varnish again!

MidnightMeltdown · 29/12/2023 08:05

HN is down to £175 if anyone is after a Jadvent

TreesinthePark · 29/12/2023 09:24

I just woke up to an email telling me HN was available down to £175 from £250. I went through the whole forgotten password rigmorole only for it to be taken out of my basket as unavailable when I tried to pay.
I only my woke up 30 mins ago, too tired for this!

Also, I couldn't see it via Topcashback with Google chrome it was only available clicking the link directly from the email.

pinkchampagne1 · 29/12/2023 16:29

It was available at around 8.30am but I stopped myself buying it.

MidnightMeltdown · 02/01/2024 12:44

Net a Porter is now reduced by 50%

I seem to remember that they had to reduce 50% last year too

Wonder whether they'll bother next year!

MiaN · 02/01/2024 16:38

even half price is not worth it for me this year. Last year it was, I really enjoyed it in January

Pinenu · 02/01/2024 18:35

My ‘no buy year’ is going terribly so far. I’ve just picked up a self care box from ASOS for £18 (worth £90) as it had a mini oil in I’ve been enjoying.

Then I spotted a Sunday Riley edit on sale too for £32.

It’s just a blip. No more spending!

TreesinthePark · 03/01/2024 01:03

The NAP at £138 is not tempting me at all either. I do really like the Sarah Chapman Overnight Facial but I would rather buy it alone full price at about £60 than pay the extra for the rest of the NAP calendar.
If it goes down to less than £100 I'll probably go for it.

pinkchampagne1 · 03/01/2024 10:19

I am not tempted by NAP either. I would like to try the face mask and the Barbara Sturm night serum but don’t like the jewellery, don’t need another travel jewellery box, don’t wear bright red lipsticks, already have the Augustunus Bader cream and have enough Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow palettes.
If it drops further I may be tempted but not at £138

MidnightMeltdown · 03/01/2024 13:26

You know that they've really messed up when they can't shift it at 50% off.

I think it's only worth it if you really like that Babs Sturm serum. I already have some in my stash that I've not tried yet.

kerstina · 03/01/2024 13:33

I would be tempted if it went lower too. I really don’t like those bracelets and I wish it were socks instead of gloves.

AprilLady · 03/01/2024 13:34

NAP has now sold out. I did actually think it was very good value at half price, if you looked at all the contents. It was just a rather odd collection of items, which I think is why it sold so slowly.

Vogue was a similar idea and mix of items, but everything was nicer - nicer jewellery, nicer candles, nice cashmere socks rather than the gloves etc - as well as being a proper advent calendar in a beautiful box.

MidnightMeltdown · 03/01/2024 13:50

@AprilLady

I agree. There are some very high value beauty products in there e.g. BS serum (£245), Westerman Atelier (£78), Sarah Chapman (£62), U Beauty (£85), MZ Skin (£85). Pat McGrath and 111 Skin are also pricey brands.

However they distracted people by adding a number of overpriced, mediocre looking non beauty items. Probably stuff they couldn't shift at full price!

Wolfofallstreets · 03/01/2024 15:39

I looked and all the products looked teeny tiny so that didn't appeal - I've had enough of miniature bottles of moisturiser and serum.

Puravida23 · 03/01/2024 15:58

I considered NAP yesterday (apart from the fact I am on a beauty ban) . I think because it was only 15 items each door mattered so filling 4 of those doors with non beauty changed the dynamic of it (5 if you include the candle so a third of the box) I didn’t like any of the non beauty items so it was an easy no for me .Also the makeup with the exception of the lip suede didn’t appeal. I think it was a risky strategy by NAP
I do think the value was there though at half price just not enough for me

narniabusiness · 03/01/2024 16:14

Personally I think it was the naff lantern thing that was the most off putting part. It feels like you were paying for it, yet it was not nice enough to keep.

pinkchampagne1 · 03/01/2024 17:23

I can’t believe those awful bracelets in that calendar were worth over £200! Who would buy those?!

They look like they came from a gift shop at a theme park or similar and would cost £15.

pinkchampagne1 · 03/01/2024 17:46

I agree, they look cheap and tacky. Surely nobody would pay over £200 for them! 😆

I haven't seen them for sale anywhere else so I think they were made especially for the advent calendar. Same with the candle. I'm not sure how they can ascribe a 'worth' to something that isn't available for individual sale. If you do that then you can essentially make up any value, but that doesn't mean that anyone would ever actually pay it. It's cheating really.
