Laugh out loud clothing

IdealisticCynic · 10/11/2023 11:29

I have a pretty much live and let live attitude to clothing. Generally if I see something a bit out there, I just shrug and think good on whoever wants that.

But occasionally I see something that seems so ridiculous, that it makes me laugh out loud. Today’s item: https://www.jigsaw-online.com/collections/dresses/products/roksanda-fringed-knitted-dress-berry?_gl=1agmcle_up*MQ..&gclid=CjwKCAiAxreqBhAxEiwAfGfndMTIbNfmdWln5jIxItMrxST14Bz2p9ljJcfTjpHZdMON3NVzZH9l3hoCiMEQAvD_BwE

How is it sold out??

Would love to see if anyone else has this reaction to some items and would particularly love to see screenshots/ links to them. Very much need a bit of cheering up/distraction today.

I had to have a total hysterectomy 2 years ago due to a cancer diagnosis. I eat well, rarely drink alcohol and exercise a lot. I haven't gained weight and look exactly the same as before surgery.

Thanks for that. It does give some hope. Unfortunately, I'm crap at eating well and not drinking and only exercise a bit...
I'm now seeing a future of buying skirts that look like some old curtains in the hope people might focus on that rather than the barrel shaped body..

BarbDwyerHair · 11/11/2023 15:08

OP, you wouldn't want to do the vacuuming in that - you'd get sucked up.

There are some beautiful clothes there. This is wonderful and it's not the only one.

love the coat, that type flatter my shape perfect... not sure whys shes wrapped up in old sheets 'toga party' style underneather though.

Really? I can completely understand that this is not to your personal taste. Fair enough.

But to not understand why anyone likes it? Raey are great at this stuff. It's luxe leisure in a fabulous fabric with a nod to 90s hip hop.

Do you think the only legitimate aesthetics are ones that conform to your taste and you would wear personally?

No, but I do think this particular thing looks absolutely ridiculous.

I love the fringed dress - especially the use of those two berry colours together.

Also love this:

Reminds me of those 'fruit salad' chews we had as kids...

LilyThePinksDealer · 11/11/2023 16:07

This is on Next - i think the nipples X's are too much. I will wear it to our Xmas party

PassageDEnfer · 11/11/2023 16:07

Struggling to see what's wrong with looking like a giant pear or Morph or carrying a pigeon. These sound like fun ways of expressing yourself?

PassageDEnfer · 11/11/2023 16:09

Not to mention the benefits of disrupting stereotypical feminine beauty ideals.

I use my face to do that

Life is short...fashion is a chance to play with who we are (animal, mineral or vegetable)

It's an Ann Summers dress. Didn't know they sold through Next these days. I would have thought that caused a branding issue!

GroomedForSerfdom · 11/11/2023 17:47

Could do with that when I'm at the side of a football pitch on a cold Sunday morning

SurprisedWithAHorse · 11/11/2023 19:06

Outdoor? Is that not the venue?

I need a cheaper version of that cape. I want.

I'm eyeing up the crystal drops in the Christmas ornaments and wondering if they can be sewn onto a feather cape to give a similar effect when worn over the right sort of coat.

The Wolf and Badger cape and the blue outfit from Egg are both fantastic in different ways. I have a cape, less expensive but similar, that I’ve worn as an evening coat for years. I can’t afford clothes from Egg. But I buy things from Sahara and elsewhere that have a similar vibe. I’d not be brave enough to wear all pale blue. But I bet it looks great on the beautiful young crowd.

Presumably the model is part of the young and beautiful crowd, though. And she looks dreadful.

There are certainly far bigger monstrosities on that site. But this still looks like two random items from a 1980s jumble sale thrown together. Sorry.

That did make me LOL! Grin

GroomedForSerfdom · 11/11/2023 21:33

Could buy the entire league new kit for that price!

Maybe all the football mums should club together - one can wear and the rest shelter underneath

Lilacanemone · 11/11/2023 01:31

Seriously? I’m surprised anyone likes it, never seen anyone in anything quite like it, it’s ludicrously oversized, shapeless and drab.

A moneyed Waynetta Slob.

Honestly, it’s no disaster. My mother had the whole shebang out in her 40s due to cancer. Struggled with how to look good in sensible clothes for years when she was working as the baked potato middle took hold.

But now she’s retired, as I said earlier, she’s going for big and bold and what makes her feel good. Between the self confidence that gives her, and always having a good hair cut, she honestly has never looked better. And I really mean that sincerely.

AngryBirdsNoMore · 11/11/2023 22:47

A snip!

I do bloody love the pigeon handbag though.
