I need help with shoes!

Just that really! I've found a dress that I'm happy with for my works Christmas do but the problem is the shoes as I'm not convinced anything I have goes well.

  1. Strappy sandals, bare legs. I think this option looks the best but bearing in mind it will be cold! I'd also need to get a decent spray tan
  1. Heeled boots, this is my least favourite look as i tnink it looks frumpy? (I'm 34)
  1. Finally, bare legs or sheer tights with grungy style boots. I love these boots but I'm not convinced as I don't think they look flattering with this style of dress. They would be the most comfy and warmer option though!

Or if anyone else has any suggestions ?

Help please 🙏 I'd like to keep the dress as I've struggled with my weight recently and this I feel comfortable in

The Christmas do is a nice meal in city centre with drinks afterwards.

I would go for the strappy sandals and freeze. 🤣 You have a great figure!

Yes I think the strappy sandals looks the nicest although I might buy a new pair in black . The only thing is there will be a bit of walking from the office to the restaurant as our Christmas party is straight after work. Thanks, I'm 2 stone heavier than last year which is why I feel conscious but I feel good in this dress

Black closed toe high heels?

Tuilipcity · 07/11/2023 20:32

I have this dilemma every year and usually go with the tights and boots but never feel it’s quite right and on the look out for a solution I may have missed ! I really like the dress on you. I really like the first pic yes it’s a bit less dressy but the dress is enough in that sense and I think you can pull it off!

Feisty1youare · 07/11/2023 20:37

I did try it with a pair of black pointy court shoes, but they didn't look quite right I felt too corporate as they are what I'd normally wear for a work meeting

Open toe tights could be a good option with the sandals.

Doggymummar · 07/11/2023 20:41

First picture looks great, bare legs and ankle boots I think. I would get decent flesh coloured tights from heist myself or 400 denier skin colour ones from Amazon they are so warm.

It's hard isn't it. Baggy dresses look great with boots, fitted ones are harder to style. I think I'll have to weigh it up once I've got my makeup and hair on. I do love the grungy style and they would be far comfier, but then it's a Christmas party so the other part of me is thinking I should go for the more glam look with the strappy sandal

Third picture by a mile. Bare legs and strappy sandals look odd with that dress.

The one on the right with the opaque tights. Don't like the other 2 at all.

Happyhappyeveryday · 07/11/2023 20:46

I would go with black closed toe and sheer black or tiny holed fishnets.

Weelegs29 · 07/11/2023 20:48

I really like the 1st option and you have the legs to pull it off! Do you have a leather jacket you could pair with it? Strappy sandals are nice too but I feel your pain with the walking. I'm planning my Xmas party outfit round my DMs this year 😂

Feisty1youare · 07/11/2023 20:57

I have seen these that are a block heel so might be easier to walk in. If I do go for the sandal option I'm thinking black will be best.

Yes I do have a leather look jacket and will be wearing that over the dress 😊

These are the other shoes I have, black strappy are too high and the plain black I don't like at all

Black tights and boots. THe bare legs look unbalanced against the dark dress. And it's winter!

ThatAlbinoCat · 07/11/2023 21:47

I like the 3rd picture the best. Sandals won't look right (and you'll be cold). I think the 1st picture looks awful.

Feisty1youare · 07/11/2023 22:06

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I'm leaning towards a strappy sandal i think, however buy a new pair in black. I know some people have said they don't like this look, but if you look on the Next website for example, the majority of party dresses including this style have been paired with a strappy sandal so I'm confident in the look. I just need to find a pair I like

Controversial but I'd go for chunky sandals and tights. You can walk, you won't freeze and it's good enough for Alexa Cheung and SJP.

Bare legs and boots without a doubt, you look great!

Mystro202 · 08/11/2023 05:59

I love the ankle boots and leather jacket look the most! Fabulous

sweetpickle23 · 08/11/2023 07:36

Ankle boots and bare legs with leather jacket for me!

I don’t like the opaque tights at all, but I had opaque tights in general- make me think of school, or offices. I’d never wear them if I wanted to dress to impress.

Feisty1youare · 08/11/2023 08:41

Thanks ladies! I'm glad a few people are digging the boots and bare legs look, at first I wasn't sure but the look has grown on me. Also I love Alexa Chungs style in general, I'd not thought about a chunky sandal but it could work

Bare legs is a bit tacky in my view. Sort of a clubbing look. Why not sparky heels? Loads around. Your dress is plain. Just wear sheer tights with the shoes. There’s quite a few closed toe platforms around at the moment too if you are confident in them. Wear with opaque tights.

Feisty1youare · 08/11/2023 10:07

Ah sorry but I'd have to disagree with you, I don't think bare legs is tacky, especially on a knee length dress. I wouldn't describe the dress as plain either, it's quite sparkly but it might now show on the photos. I'll buy some very sheer tights and see how that looks with the boots as that would keep me warm, the nude coloured tights can be really awful and old fashioned especially when they are shiny! Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places though
