Under chin pleats

Apart from a facelift, can anything be done about those weird concertina pleats that run from front to back under a chubby chin? Not tech neck.

I know, I’m ravishing. Grin

Anyone? Does nobody care about my pleaty neck?

Goffering iron? (I hear ya )

Badatthis · 05/11/2023 14:33

A scarf? Long hair? Long hair and a scarf? Polo neck.

I had to look this up, but sadly I don't think it's the answer. It would just result in neat pleats, and I'd like no pleats.

It honestly looks like a packet of wafer thin ham in cross section.

I think a beard is probably going to be more effective than long hair, and I could grow a beard more quickly. Unfortunately as the problem is chin, rather than neck, a polo neck just serves as a shelf for the horror to sit on. It's like I'm displaying it.

But it's somewhere to hide the teeny bristles that occur? Silver linings etc.

Sexlivesofthepotatomen · 06/11/2023 11:50

Sadly I got these when I lost a lot of weight, you can buy sticky things that pull your skin tight but I fear the only long term solution is a face/neck lift

TheLonelyGoatTurd · 07/11/2023 08:19

Teeny bristles? I can go to bed smooth of chin and wake up with them long enough to plait, I swear they sneak up on me.

I fear you're right Potato, and a face lift is the only answer. Was there anything that even reduced yours?

What are under chin pleats ?
Photo please.
Not necessarily of you @TheLonelyGoatTurd but of anyone who has them so I know what you are writing about.

Well there's your answer, clip them firmly into your topknot and all will be well.

Apparently Marlene Dietrich used to run a fine gold chain under her chin and behind her ears to hoist up the saggy area for a photo shoot. How I long for the days of B & W photography, we were all more gorgeous then!

Here you go, here are some chin pleats from the internet. These are not mine, mine are a trifle more wobbly looking.

Wear a v neck top and uplift bra, i find this distracts attention from the pleaty neck 😁

HereLies · 07/11/2023 14:43

Those are normal and in all women older than 30. The muscles and tendons look like this.

Moredarkchocolateplease · 07/11/2023 14:59

I'm 45. I have these. This is your neck not your chin.

I have given up. I thought about moisturing it but it makes me feel slimy so I stopped!

I've decided this means I've finally lost my looks.

TheLonelyGoatTurd · 07/11/2023 15:13

For me it definitely is under my chin, the photo isn't of me. I'm moisturising like I'm basting a Sunday roast, but the piggy pleats are refusing to tighten up. Looks definitely lost here.

Mine are a new acquisition after losing loads of weight 🙄

LadyEloise1 · 07/11/2023 16:05

Thank you for the photo @TheLonelyGoatTurd

How did you lose all the weight @MrsPelligrinoPetrichor ?
I need to badly Sad

Ruthietuthie · 07/11/2023 16:08

I think you can have Botox to soften the look of these bands (says she from watching far too many "facial balancing" videos on TikTok, despite never having done anything like Botox or filler in my life)

TheLonelyGoatTurd · 07/11/2023 16:10

I don't have bands (I know what you mean, platysmal bands I think they're called), just the pleated wrinkles.

OP posts:
Badatthis · 07/11/2023 16:26

Best bet is to stop looking in the mirror and then they go away

Ruthietuthie · 07/11/2023 16:29

Mmm... if it is just the wrinkles, perhaps a nice scarf? (Not much help here...)

Leftinlimbo · 07/11/2023 17:00

I have these, along with sagging jowls. I think @Dramalady52 has the best suggestion - just use your cleavage to distract from it. Highlight your good points and try to ignore the faults.

QueefofSheena · 07/11/2023 19:59

I've got these. Constant use of Prai neck cream freezes them a bit but they come back if I don't keep it up. I'm nearly 60 though so I've accepted them

Slimming World, just did it on line, more than 3.5 stone in 10 months, slow and steady. Wrinkly neck though, like a deflated balloon. Oh well.

heyhohello · 07/11/2023 21:54

Shoulder length or longer hair brushed forward. Then they are in shadow.
