Diptyque perfume

I absolutely love L'eau Papier, can anyone recommend another?

I plan to go on a sniffing spree later next week so would love to know more.
Anything else to check out? If so, what does it evoke to you? I want a warming, winter fragrance that has complexity and depth.

Eau duelle is my winter perfume. It a warm spicy vanilla, I love it (it’s not sweet or sickly which I find a lot of vanilla fragrance can be)

stealthbanana · 02/11/2023 23:29

L’ombre dans l’eau is my all time favourite perfume - it is just absolutely delicious and I have people sniff me randomly in public when I’m wearing it (honestly true!) 😂

orpheon also a good strong winter scent (though intense), I like Vetiver as well

EnchantedAutumn · 02/11/2023 23:38

Interested in Orpheon! Can you describe it please?
I love vanilla scents too, had bad luck with recent purchase thought (not Diptyque).

Not too interested in vivid florals at the moment. Will probably change my mind come spring.

I adore Diptique Fleur de peau (also like papier) and Santal 33 although it can smell too leathery on me.

EnchantedAutumn · 03/11/2023 00:41

Ah i am sure i heard that people thought they were similar, which makes me pause purchasing fleur de peau.

I love a deep scent but am often guided to woody, unisex, which never suit me. I can shuffle slightly into masculine but not too far.

I love Philosykos - it smells fresh and green, like nettles!

PinkArt · 03/11/2023 01:42

I love 34 and it might fit the bill - definitely worth a sniff. It was conceived as the scent of the original boutique, so has notes from a lot of the other perfumes and candles. I've never been able to describe it well but it's a very well rounded and layered scent.

Pocodaku · 03/11/2023 01:48

I love Bulgari’s Au Thé Vert. Warm, citrusy but subtle. People compliment me on it often. But sadly getting very hard to find, even online.

stealthbanana · 03/11/2023 07:44

@EnchantedAutumn orpheon is lovely, it sort of smells both like you’re in a lovely wintry room and simultaneously like you’ve just got out of the shower - it has a gorgeous powdery top note which I believe is Tonka bean. It does have cedar wood in it though so if you don’t like woody scents it may not suit you.

it’s funny how we’re all different - a PP talked about 34, which I almost like but it has patchouli in it which my nose can sniff out from a thousand paces and just gives me a headache regardless of how subtly it’s incorporated.

AnotherCrazyBirdLady · 03/11/2023 10:15

I love Volutes, it's deep and rich and warming, without being cloying.

cocorico42 · 03/11/2023 10:24

Second nomination for eau duelle. Perfect winter fragrance. Comforting and not at all sickly.

dogrilla · 03/11/2023 11:34

Orpheon is a BIG scent. You have to be in the mood. I love Tam Dao - is more subtle and woody.

Mydogisamentalist · 03/11/2023 11:52

I treated myself to L’ombre dans l’eau this morning with some birthday money. I’ve never smelt it but the baies candle is one of my absolute favourite scents so I’m hoping it’s close!

I’ve wanted to smell Philosykos for years. Space NK have finally opened somewhat near me so I’m going to pop in when I’m next passing.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 03/11/2023 11:53

Another love for Volutes.

Darklane · 03/11/2023 11:58

They sound really interesting but how do you find them to try? Seems like you have to live in/near London or Edinburgh according to their official site.

Orpheon is def a big scent.

tam dao has sandalwood in it which is another note I don’t get on with. I always think it’s a shame as I almost like it but I find the sandalwood distracting.

I think if you order online they send you a sample (so you don’t have to open the bottle)

ApolloandDaphne · 03/11/2023 13:04

My DH got a sample of Orpheon and i love it. I am hoping a full bottle is coming my way at Christmas!

dullandgrey · 03/11/2023 13:41

Philosykos is a favourite of mine but it's definitely a summer scent as it's very fresh and green. I usually hate rose fragrances but actually quite like their eau rose and even purchased a small bottle. Again it's not really just a rose smell, but incorporates the whole rose so also has a green freshness to it. I went to a JL today for a sniff at some more and I like orpheon but there's just something a little off about it for me. Can't work it out. I had spray of their new one, l'eau papier and oh my it is vile on me! I actually had a visceral reaction to it lol. Wanted to try eau duelle as that sounds right up my street, but they didn't have it. Tempted to purchase it as they send it with a little sample to try first.

HamHand · 03/11/2023 13:52

I love Diptyque for fragrance. Seconding many previous recommendations, eau duelle is beautiful at this time of year, a really grown up Vanilla. I love eau de sens in the summer, and l’ombre dans l’eau
does smell exactly like the Baies candle. I think if I were buying for right now, I’d definitely get the Eau duelle. It’ll see you right through til spring.

EnchantedAutumn · 03/11/2023 16:08

This is just wonderful, thank you so much everyone!

Volutes is great

As is eau lente

Papier just smelt like white musk with celery to me unfortunately 😬 husband loved it though.

BodgerSparkins · 03/11/2023 16:25

Oh and try 'lothair' by penhaligons, might be up your street

LoveLabradors · 03/11/2023 16:42

Another vote for l’ombré dans l’eau here. I adore it. I tried eau capitale recently and loved that too.
