Beauty Advent Calendars 2023 Part D- waiting till December?

1000 replies

Stoic123 · 31/10/2023 22:18

Or will you start opening in November?

Either way, it's not long now......time to make your choice (s).

Continuing the thread.

"This is a thread to discuss the buying of beauty calendars and not the opening of them. There may be general discussion about contents of a calendar but please do not share information about what is behind a specific door you've opened. Thank you"

I saw that there was a 15% TikTok shop discount where you can cult beauty for £191. It still doesn't interest me though

PomRuns · 01/11/2023 16:17

Ah not such a good deal if no GWP.

Doubleraspberry · 01/11/2023 16:18

I have officially asked DH for a chocolate calendar. No beauty calendar for me this year.

Stoic123 · 01/11/2023 17:04

Hi
I've reported my opening post to ask Mumsnet to clarify that this is a buying focussed not opening thread- and to ask people not to share what is behind specific doors. Hopefully they'll update it

And they have - thank you Mumsnet!

Brilliant!! Is it worth starting a new thread for people to show their November goodies??

Ilikeyoursleeves · 01/11/2023 18:11

Wow I lasted posted on the Thread Part C last night and just came on this new link to see 81 new messages!!! 🤣

Excitement all around!

I got an unexpected bonus today... when I ordered the Molton Brown one (I think I'm the only one on this thread who's gone for that one!!) I didn't realise there was a 'join to be a member and earn points' thing. I realised I would've earned loads of points from buying an AC so I messaged them after to see if they could be added retrospectively. They said sadly no but we will send you stuff to make up for it. I came home today to 4 little bottles of shower gels to try! Which IMO is far better than the points and works out better cost wise! 🌟

So that's me with Molton Brown for shower gel, lotions and perfume, M&S for a skincare / make up mix, and the £19 nail polish one I bought last night. More than enough and I'm going to keep MB & M&S for Dec but I think I'll open the nail polish one when it arrives, one a day for Nov 💅🏻

Great reading what everyone else is doing and getting!

Ooo what nail polish one did you get please?

Ilikeyoursleeves · 01/11/2023 18:18

@Peablockfeathers

www.ciatelondon.com/products/mini-mani-month-new?variant=40046210908246

It's worth £125, selling for £65, but if you use the discount code MMM26 you get it for £19 inc postage!!! I've only recently started painting my nails again and slowly building up a collection so it seemed too good an offer to pass by!

Stoic123 · 01/11/2023 18:24

@Ilikeyoursleeves - Wow! That's up there with the sock bargains.

Can't think of anyone who I can buy it for - would be perfect gift!

Wow thank you! I'm fussy with nail varnish but that's one of the few brands I like- worth an order and hope they'll honour it! Thank you :)

Ilikeyoursleeves · 01/11/2023 18:29

@Stoic123 I bought it for myself 🤣

LunaDeBallona · 01/11/2023 18:31

Ive decided this thread is a terrible influence on me.
I bought my daughter a Boots advent calendar and was quite pleased with it - then I found this thread and joyous posts of wonderful deals.
I am now the proud owner of the Boots ‘Awards’ calendar, the OK one and this morning I couldn’t resist the nail varnish one reduced with code from £65 to £19.
And I’m hoping Vogue do a discount.
You lot are bad, I’m telling you, bad! 😆

Ilikeyoursleeves · 01/11/2023 18:32

@Peablockfeathers

From the MSE website:

If Ciaté is the original nail polish Advent calendar you wait for every year, then you can enter the MSE Blagged code MMM26 at Ciaté_ to get it for £19 delivered (normally £65). Note though, this is the same calendar it released in 2022 – it hasn't updated it for 2023, but it doesn't say 2022 on the packaging so is perfectly usable for 2023 gifting.
There are 1,300 available, and the deal will run until they're all sold.
It's entirely vegan and cruelty-free, with 23 mini 'plant-pot' polishes, and one full-size 'plant-pot' polish. If bought separately, Ciaté says the contents would cost £125.

Ilikeyoursleeves · 01/11/2023 18:29

@Stoic123 I bought it for myself 🤣

I've just done the same 😂. I'll take any I won't wear (not a pinks person) and hand them out at work. Thanks for sharing the code.

Checking in.
After my (minor) meltdown last week, particularly over Boots' broken checkout system that wouldn't take my money, I discovered Sephora have a great selection of advent calendars from other brands, not just their own brand ones, and they have 10% discount for your two favourite brands. I got the L'Occitane calendar on a 15% off discount code (PAYDAY15 but I think it was just valid on 28th) and it arrived yesterday, I've put it in a Very Sensible Place where hopefully I won't be tempted.
Now deciding if I also need another calendar, and if so, which one. The nail varnish one is the deal of the century for anyone who will use those shades (I won't, so I'll leave it for the rest of you as it says it's low stock).

MavisMcMinty · 01/11/2023 18:44

I was nearly tempted by the nail polish one, even though I probably have nearly 200 bottles, some still unopened! I need either more fingernails or more days in the year to get through them all.

Ilikeyoursleeves · 01/11/2023 18:47

@MavisMcMinty see I only have about 5 bottles so I needed a nail polish advent calendar in my life 💅🏻

What's another 24 on top of your 200! Go for it 😆😆😆

Noeggsontoast · 01/11/2023 19:00

@Ilikeyoursleeves Thanks for the details on the nail varnish advent. Perfect gift for my niece and a great deal!

Dee1224 · 01/11/2023 19:20

Thanks for the new thread @Stoic123 .

I have the WS sock advent calendar, which I am going to start opening on 14th Dec, so I can wear a new pair every day up to Xmas. I have the M&S one and the 2022 entry level Rituals a/c which I picked up in May super cheap. I will start those on 1/12.

I still want the Clarins 12 day one for the -new to me- concept of Jadvent🤣 but am restraining myself!

tryingsomethingnew · 01/11/2023 19:35

Has anyone mentioned the Zara beauty advent calendar? It's on sale at TKmaxx. Can't see any products but the price discount looks good.

MidnightMeltdown · 01/11/2023 19:45

There are some pretty colours in the nail polish calendar, but I can rarely be bothered to paint my nails. Also a bit put off after watching something horrendous about how toxic chemicals from nail polish seep through the nail and circulate around the body.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 01/11/2023 19:53

Not beauty advent but would make a great Xmas gift & gift to self!

I've just watched Keeley's (Elemis ambassador) live on FB about the upcoming Elemis TSV that goes live on Monday.
The Green bag is the new Fig bath/shower cream & body butter balm.
Red bag is Frangipani bath/shower & body butter balm
Beige Gold bag is Warm Tonka & Vanilla bath/shower & body balm.

All sets also contain the cleansing balm, eye serum, ginseng toner & a pro collagen marine cream.

Its £65.98 & will be available on 5 easy pays.

@MidnightMeltdown there are some brands that are free from dodgy chemicals. I can't remember which off the top of my head. If you search for nail varnish safe in pregnancy there might be some decent options (there were 4 years ago but I can't for the life of me remember what the brands were and there might be different ones by now, anyway).

Dee1224 · 01/11/2023 22:23

@MidnightMeltdown here is a list from the ES of ‘non-toxic’ nail varnishes:

https://www.standard.co.uk/shopping/esbest/beauty/best-non-toxic-nail-polish-b1092859.html

Unfortunately, most are expensive and have to be bought online.

I don’t use nail varnish very often, but have industrial quantities to use up - I didn’t know about the carcinogen elements, so am now wondering if I should just chuck it all 🙃
