Or will you start opening in November?

Either way, it's not long now......time to make your choice (s).

Update, got a refund!

Woohoo! So glad for you!

LaBrujaPiruja · 14/11/2023 10:37

I liked Space NK and Selfridges, now sold out. I only have LF now and it’s not ideal, I bought it to comment the drawers with my nieces but “my” AC was Vogue.
I have Liberty credit but I don’t like their AC this year. I don’t know what to do!

Doubleraspberry · 14/11/2023 10:41

Diptyque? Beautiful to look at. But obviously single brand and fragrance/candles rather than a range of products.

The year I had similar with Look Fantastic, I bought a couple of beauty edits and made up my own calendar with an old calendar. Do you have an empty calendar you could use and maybe get someone else to fill it to keep an element of surprise?

Puravida23 · 14/11/2023 10:46

Great News @LaBrujaPiruja . Would you risk buying it again? Is there a postal upgrade you can use?
Otherwise Harvey Nicks Net a Porter and Flannels are still available which are vaguely comparable

I do not want it, it’s been too time consuming and stressful. Will reject it if DPD turns up with it.

May do this. Or just buy any AC with a Black Friday discount.

CorneliaStreet · 14/11/2023 11:21

@CaveMum If you’re looking to try new scents, have you had a look at the Perfume Society website? They have mixed sample/mini boxes and also lots of brand discovery sets. You could probably get several sets for less than the Space NK calendar.

QueefofSheena · 14/11/2023 11:52

So glad you got your refund @LaBrujaPiruja

I’m sitting on my hands over the HN fragrance GWP, not that there’s anything I need for the qualifying spend. I’ve added the Flannels cracker AC to my basket and DH has a blue light card so I can get the discount. I don’t actually need it though and I’d kick myself if it gets reduced by a lot.

MidnightMeltdown · 14/11/2023 12:00

It seems that many retailers have managed their stock better this year. Many of the big, multi brand calendars already offer exceptional value, so I think that they are generally very reluctant to offer further discounts. They can't be making a huge margin on these.

Also, reducing pisses off customers who have paid full price. I noticed on the Holland & Barrett reviews last year that loads of customers were complaining that they'd bought early paid full price!!

I think that last year was exceptional, as many retailers were caught out after high demand in previous years. Given that Harrods was released in August, it's still taken a long time to sell out, but they've managed their stock really well without it selling out too early.

I bought Harrods, Selfridges and Space NK as my main calendars for December, so slightly relieved that they weren't massively discounted, although I wasn't really expecting them to be.

There are still quite a lot in stock - Cult Beauty, Liberty, Harvey Nichols, Fortnum's, Sephora, John Lewis, NAP, Fenwicks, Elle, Mintd, Vogue, Flannels - so there's still a good chance of a last minute bargain!

MidnightMeltdown · 14/11/2023 12:01

Glad that you got your refund @LaBrujaPiruja!

Talisin · 14/11/2023 12:17

Update from Sephora- they are still waiting to hear back from their distribution centre (it’s been a week). Alternatively they ‘would be happy to offer a partial refund of 15% to the value of £28.35.’ For 7 missing items from a £189 calendar 🙄

Peridot1 · 14/11/2023 12:55

Very pleased you got your refund @LaBrujaPiruja.

ACAC2023 · 14/11/2023 13:12

@LaBrujaPiruja Glad you finally got the refund!!
Treat yourself to something nice with it🙂

If you have ordered from JL in the last 35 days and the price drops you can submit a price drop refund. 😊 I was just outside the 35 days last year so was kicking myself!

I did it straight away last night and wasn't expecting a response for a bit as they said they were very busy. £19.50 refunded this morning though! Thank you so much for mentioning this. Now I am no longer kicking myself for waiting for a discount AND am quids in.

CaveMum · 14/11/2023 14:18

Thanks for the tip @CorneliaStreet I’ll take a look there.

Twinsandsome · 14/11/2023 15:55

Oh no @Talisin I ordered because I’m panicking now that all will sell out, what numbers was it you where missing? That’s terrible customer service. I’m really nervous mines will show up with missing items or damaged too x

Pinkyzstar · 14/11/2023 15:57

Aaah quite exciting. It's already mid nov. Waiting for the christmas

LaBrujaPiruja · 14/11/2023 16:18

I have decided I’m not buying an alternative to Vogue AC.

Beauty “editors”, please take note for next year; we do not want scrunchies, mirrors, sleep masks, hair clips, etc. in a luxury AC.

(I can also live without socks and “gold” jewellery in an AC).

Possimpible · 14/11/2023 16:36

@LaBrujaPiruja Sorry you've had a bad experience. Glad you got your refund. Each to their own though, personally I like silk scrunchies and sleep masks (not cheapo satin), and cashmere socks so would be chuffed to get them in a calendar. I wouldn't thank you for the Liberty hair clips or NAP vegan leather jewellery case though.

ACAC2023 · 14/11/2023 16:49

@LaBrujaPiruja the cashmere socks were one of the reasons I ordered the Vogue calendar & though I never wear necklaces and was fully expecting to give mine away from the Vogue Calendar. I absolutely love the necklace and am definitely keeping it.

I also like silk scrunchies and the mask in the Vogue Calendar is silk too.

I'm so sorry about the terrible customer service you had but I’d say DPD was primarily to blame as they’re the ones who messed up the delivery.

The Vogue Calendar is truly worth it to me and I’m not tempted by any other so far, though did have Space NK as a backup option. I did check out the Flannel Cracker after some comments on here but wasn’t impressed at all.

Dee1224 · 14/11/2023 17:03

Hi, for those looking for the H&B calendar - they had lots in stock in my local store, but, sadly, full price.

ClarkeWGrisswald · 14/11/2023 17:06

@LaBrujaPiruja but you bought the calendar in the first place so clearly did initially want those items as they're in that specific calendar? Anyway - good to hear you were refunded and can now live on from it
