Or will you start opening in November?

Either way, it's not long now......time to make your choice (s).

Continuing the thread.

"This is a thread to discuss the buying of beauty calendars and not the opening of them. There may be general discussion about contents of a calendar but please do not share information about what is behind a specific door you've opened. Thank you"

@LaBrujaPiruja I'm so sorry. What a rubbish experience xx

HumourReplacementTherapy · 10/11/2023 19:47

The bullet has been bitten! Grin
I've bought the JL one
I wasn't going to this year, I've had Liberty every year but there are too many repeats.

MidnightMeltdown · 10/11/2023 20:43

I think that the Flannels women's fragrance cracker has sold out, but the men's appears to now be in stock on the website if anyone still wants it

Very odd that they cancelled orders and now have it in stock

I don't suppose that you want to pay postage again @Puravida23 (but you might want to complain!).

Growlybear83 · 10/11/2023 20:49

I so nearly waited until the Flannels fragrance calendar was due to arrive in the stores today, but panicked when my local branch told me that most of the stock had already been allocated for presales. Im really glad I bought it last weekend!

itsalongwaybackfromsorry · 10/11/2023 21:31

If anyone is considering the QVC Elemis 6 Piece Pro-Collagen Face & Body Gift Collection and uses topcashback, there is an additional 8% for new customers or 3% for existing customers today.

Giftwithpurchase · 10/11/2023 21:53

Fell off the thread .. great to see all the updates and THANK YOU to the poster who said about the pick your own quality street in JL, strawberry and orange creams for me too 😂

Have ordered degusta after sneaking a peek at this year and being way more impressed than last year. Still no beauty calendar tho and think I won't get now. I do want the Liberty jewellery one if it's reduced ...

Yajebbend · 10/11/2023 21:54

Bit the bullet and ordered 15 tea towels from ulster weavers. What the fuck am I going to do with them all 😂 I can’t gift tea towels can I 😂😂

LaBrujaPiruja · 10/11/2023 22:51

ACAC2023 · 10/11/2023 17:01

@LaBrujaPiruja That’s really bad, they obviously have issues with Customer Service, I hope it’s just a delayed response. I’ve no idea why they’re just sending an email now telling me they’re about to deliver my Calendar, same tracking number as the one already delivered, obviously very disorganised! They’ve had months to get this together too!

I don’t want it anymore, I just want a full refund

Isabelle70 · 11/11/2023 07:09

@Giftwithpurchase I would like to order the Degusta box for DS but they won't ship to my location. Would you be able to let me know the rough dimensions so I can see what it will be to use the mail forwarder. Many thanks in advance if you can

FinallyFinalGirl · 11/11/2023 07:24

Mmmnnn,,,,I watched the Flannels advent calendar/cracker unboxing with RLB and now think I might want it. I could give the makeup to my daughter as part of her stocking and keep the rest. The perfume is a full bottle and reading reviews, sounds lovely. I might wait to see if there are any reductions but because it's not actually a calendar, there might not be any, as it would make a great present.

Puravida23 · 11/11/2023 08:37

@MidnightMeltdown . Thanks for letting me know . I am so annoyed with Flannels. Incredibly I still want the thing so have paid again . Only one this time I have ditched DHs so have paid postage 3 times now🤯 for my crackers. I am still not convinced I will get it but I will be writing a long letter of complaint either way

Pinkyzstar · 11/11/2023 09:18

Haven't bought anything as of now. Looking out for something.

MidnightMeltdown · 11/11/2023 09:47

Holland & Barrett is £5 off if anyone wanted that one

MidnightMeltdown · 11/11/2023 10:01

Hope that you get it this time @Puravida23!

pinkchampagne1 · 11/11/2023 10:08

Someone is trying to sell the JL calendar for £325 on EBay! Can’t see this selling fast when you can order the same calendar from John Lewis for £175!

Theraffarian · 11/11/2023 10:17

@Isabelle70 I’ve just measured the box it comes in which is a tight fit to the calendar and you would need to keep it in that to post on . It’s 61cm x 25 cm x 48cm .

QueefofSheena · 11/11/2023 11:11

The Flannels £170 one looks great, but RLV had a broken item which is not great. Probably not surprising given their packaging is so hit and miss. I'd be gutted if that happened. My fragrance crackers seem to be ok but the men's one wasn't as well packed.

Watchingpaintdrying · 11/11/2023 11:11

Branster · 06/11/2023 20:23

Oh dear!

Found all my scribbled notes the other day and over the weekend I made my final decisions: absolutely no expensive or premium AC this year unless they go down to £80, and even then, I can't say I am truly taken with any of them.
My unfulfilled desire shall remain Vogue, which is way out of my budget. If I had the money to spare I'd get 3: 1 for me to enjoy, 1 to keep as a collectable to pass-on toDD, 1 to sell on Ebay come spring time.
I still daydream about Guerlain for decadence factor but I would absolutely not get it.
LiB is not that exciting for me this year, but I'd probably get it if it was £80 or under, unless I got a premium AC for reduced price.

I then concluded I'd actually be more than happy with a budget friendly version.

Glssybox is often around £60 on Tiktok or LF. Not particularly exciting but I'd enjoy it.
Nuxe is still on the periphery and Naturisimo is a possibility. M&S doesn't appeal this year. There were a few others but I can't remember why I don't like them anymore.

I'd mostly like OK AC in this group and would like the Christmas Box too if the AC goes down to £70 again. So actually that's all I'd get: OK AC with the box but I'll wait for a reduction. Decision made!!!! Very liberating. DH can have the candle in his office because I'm not into candles. Everything else, I would use.

Somehow, something otherworldly made buy Bridal Beauty Mystery Box as it came back in stock today. Now priced at £200. I've always enjoyed their mystery bags and I know I won't be disappointed and it will be a real surprise. Complete change in thinking from a week ago for me.
I'll ask the children to put everything in a box for me so I can't see the products and will take something out every day, like a real AC. We might have to fashion a box together with a lucky dip hole at the top. I'll give the Jurlique AC to my mother as she'll enjoy it.

So that's that. All done and no more. I didn't mean to spend £200 on frivolity when I woke up this morning but there we are. I'm beyond excited. Ridiculous!!

I can't wait to read the opening threads and follow your joy/surprises and amusing stories.

I also managed to sort through all the recent collections boxes purchases and it's quite scary how much stuff there is. I shall gift some products and maybe sell what is leftover in the New Year.

I feel I ought to get DH a nice AC now. Kids are only getting chocolate ones as I used up all my thinking efforts on myself as regards advent calendars and don't feel like starting again.

Now I really, really must join the new no more beauty spend thread.

I had sworn not to get any Acs this year. Still have loads from last year but the OK one looks good and I would use most of it. What are the chances it will be reduced do you think?

pinkchampagne1 · 11/11/2023 11:30

I have the OK one which I am opening this month. I am pretty impressed with it for the money. Code 10OK still works to knock £10 off the price (it is 10 OK not 100k as I first tried!)

Piccalino3 · 11/11/2023 12:00

I am absolutely loving this thread and really excited for the advent openings after a bit of a lack lustre start in September and wondering if I'd even bother this year. They just felt a bit meh after years of Space NK, Liberty and Harrods.

So, for myself I have Space NK - was lucky to get it on the last day it was available and with the free gift. I'm going to Lapland in December so loved the Northern lights theme and the contents seemed to stick with me the most, haven't had a Space NK for years. I also have a cross stitch one and a Neideregger marzipan one which I wanted last year but it sold out! Feel a bit guilty having 3 so may hide the non beauty from my husband, although he's getting a red wine one from me (which I am planning on helping with).

I just bought my sister the Liberty one today, she loves purple and we do exchange calendars (I got OK this year) which I use for Javent. I can't tell you how excited I am for her to open it, she is going to be thrilled and her birthday is 1st Dec so makes it extra special for both of us!

Starting to feel a bit festive with all of these tucked under the bed....

itsalongwaybackfromsorry · 11/11/2023 12:14

I buy my DH the very big Neideregger marzipan calendar every year; he loves it.

MidnightMeltdown · 11/11/2023 13:03

@Piccalino3 yeah, I actually think that this year has been great for advent calendars. Space nk and Selfridges in particular knocked it out the park. These are the best offerings that I've seen from them.

Space nk, Selfridges and Look Fantastic were all very slow to sell out last year, and it's clear that they've learned something from this and significantly upped their game.

I think that some people are just losing enthusiasm because of beauty box overload. People expect more and more each year, and things that would have flown of the shelves a couple of years ago are now struggling. It's such a cut throat, saturated market and we all have cupboards full of stuff!

Piccalino3 · 11/11/2023 13:07

I know it's not beauty, but Laduree have a very beautiful advent calendar, I saw it in person and it's gorgeous. Not sure about the contents and probably not worth the cost but I'd still love to have it!

MidnightMeltdown · 11/11/2023 13:08

I do think that F&M and JL made a mistake in hiking the price this year, although I expect that JL did it because they knew that their customers would be waiting for a discount.
