Can anyone recommend an eyelash serum that actually works?

I have short, straight lashes and just looking for an eyelash serum that will help my eyelashes grow. I've heard Nanolashes is good.
Have you used something that actually worked?

Eyelash serums do not work. That's not how biology works. Better mascara is your only option

Lellochip · 20/10/2023 11:28

For ones that are proven to really increase growth, you want to look for prostaglandins in the ingredients. These do have side effect risks from changing the colour of your actual eyes, and making the skin round them pink, to fat loss/hollows under the eyes though.

The brands that don't have this in seem to be hit and miss with results, but might offer some slight conditioning improvement which makes them look a little thicker/longer, by stopping them falling out so soon. You can also get this just from putting a little castor oil or vaseline on the lash line though, and generally treating them a bit gentler.

I have been using UKLash for the last 3 months. Lashes are definitely thicker and longer, to the point that my DD asked if I was wearing false lashes.

Leafytrees · 20/10/2023 14:21

UK lash genuinely really works. My eyelashes are double the length they were. I don't use it as much as they advise as I'm worried about some of the side effects you hear about, but touch wood so far I haven't experienced any.

Read the history behind Revitalash.
it was originally designed by a USA ophthalmologist whose wife lost her eyelashes to ill health

it works I have used it myself , mainly the Revitabrow as I wear glasses so less bothered about my lashes.
it needs continual use for best effect . It is ££

DD has used the Revitalash, it’s brilliant on her but she does have natural good eyelashes.

UKLash irritated her eyes
Currently trying the ELF one but early days. It’s a brow/lash but a thin brush so a bind to use on brows

This. Which is why it's banned in a lot of places.

The ones that actually work can have some nasty side effects, I wouldn't risk it. I remember reading something by a doctor that said he could see orbital fat loss in 100% of people who used these products, once he knew what to look for.

MayMi · 20/10/2023 14:34

My sister used Vaseline, or sometimes coconut oil on her eyelashes before bed and over a few weeks/months made a very big difference to her eyelashes. It's also worth using a decent mascara, try one that says it's nourishing to eyelashes and it should work out.

threecupsofteaminimum · 20/10/2023 14:34

I used UKlash and mine were twice as long after about a month and really noticeable however since I've stopped using it they've gone back to normal which makes me wonder what the hell is in it!

EmmaStone · 20/10/2023 14:58

I used UK Lash, it was fab, and my lashes really grew. I've just started Revitalash after seeing its effect on my beauty therapist - she had to take a break as her lashes were almost touching her brows! No side effects from me. UK Lash not as expensive as Revitalash.

bossybloss · 20/10/2023 14:59

I used UK lash and it didn’t work. What did work was castor oil! You can get it on Amazon with a mascara type wand. X

‘That’s not how biology works’ ?! What are you saying - are you dismissing all topical treatments?

Theres good evidence that eyelash serums with prostaglandins work. However there are also risks including of periorbital fat loss - not something I’d risk.

I was using rosemary oil on my hair and just doing my lashes at the same time. They were short and brittle for years after one set of lashes. Definitely noticed a difference in both my hair and lashes!

imnottoofussed · 20/10/2023 17:17

I've had success with nyk1 eyelash serum and have been asked previously if I had my lashes done by a friend I hadn't seen for a while

felisha54 · 20/10/2023 17:18

I used no.7 on my lashes after having my fake eyelashes removed (due to gaps) and it worked really well.

weightbegone · 20/10/2023 17:18

Just accept you're not genetically destined to have longer lashes. We can't have everything in life.

RoyKentFanclub · 20/10/2023 17:22

Revitalash does work but you have to use it every day and it takes 2 months to start being noticeable. I had to stop for a bit and trim my eyelashes..

Happy31 · 20/10/2023 17:48

I've been using Sweed ..as recommended by Sali Hughes. I noticed a difference after 4 weeks, my lashes are noticeably longer and thicker without mascara. With mascara they look very long.

I used to think that, but then I read a review of the Ordinary multi-peptide lash serum and noticed it was on special offer at Boots for £6 which was half the normal price so I decided to give it a try. I applied it daily for a month and the lashes on my upper lid at the outer corner which are normally really short and stubby were definitely noticeably longer than they usually are. With a bit of mascara it gave a much better effect than a lash lift and tint, which I always find disappointing because of the shortness of those outer lashes. It didn't make any difference to my eyebrows though.

I can highly recommend Revitalash which I used after I lost my eyelashes to chemo. It took a mere two weeks for enough growth for a little mascara. I had to stop using it after 6 weeks because my eyelashes were so long that they were brushing against my glasses.

Me personally would definitely prefer to use this or Vaseline rather than @WeRateSquirrels says use something which can have nasty side effects. Plus I get dry eyes anyway so don’t want to mess them up completely.

DrMarshaFieldstone · 20/10/2023 19:09

I used the Beauty Pie lash serum which I believe is peptide-based and noticed a significant difference. I ended up taking a break as the longest lashes were brushing against my glasses and it was annoying.

'That's not how biology works'???? What does this even mean. Of course some work. Prostaglandins cause the growth phase to be extended. I hope you didn't study biology anywhere as you don't know much.

Disappointedsofa · 20/10/2023 21:48

Thanks everyone, I will definitely check out UK Lash and Revitalash, the one with prostaglandins sounds too risky. I don't like the idea of it changing the colour of my eyes
