Dressing gown recommendations please

I did do a search, but the MN search is shit.

So, I would like a new dressing gown.
Criteria:

  • thick
  • long (I'm tall)
  • pockets
  • fleece or very soft towelling
  • I like cornflower blue, dusty pink, sage green
  • classic dressing gown with a tie belt, not a sack with a zip.
  • hood optional
  • about £70 max

The ones I've seen in M&S and Tu look and feel lovely, but are so thin.

I got mine from Seasalt last year and am very pleased with it - here's the latest selection https://www.seasaltcornwall.com/hushing-fluffy-recycled-polyester-gown

@CharlotteBog please report back on the oodie. I'm thinking of getting one.

@CharlotteBog please report back on the oodie. I'm thinking of getting one.

Here I am. It only arrived yesterday so this morning was its first trial!

I love it. It is very soft and snuggly.
Just about long enough at a few inches below my knee.
The cuffed sleeves are an absolute boon.

It does seem rather thin so may not wear well on the backside. Time will tell (maybe if I use it mainly for lying down purposes this will not be an issue!).

I will need to stitch a ribbon tie on the inside so it stays wrapped fully around me. I like to be snug with the edges of the gown wrapping fully around me. The left side of the gown is tucked in and lies on my right hip, the right side edge lies on my left hip. With the weight of the hood it then easily falls open/gapes.

I would not have paid full price (£75) but with £30 off I'm happy.

Thanks for the reply. I'm undecided. I just can't find the perfect one!

A week or so in and I LOVE my dressing gown. It is warm and soft.

BUT I really need to sort out how to stop it falling open. The hood (when down) is not helping as the weight of it pulls the gown open.

I feel like I want to put a length of velcro right down the length of the gown that you tuck around you first (if you know what I mean). I won't do that, but I do need a button and loop or something on the inside of the shoulder and then about waist.

I am quite narrow so there is LOTS of fabric.

Can I ask what size you are, and how true it fits Charlotte? Looking for my gf for Christmas but size charts/reviews look mixed on how big they are!

She's a 16, so thinking the L/XL? I was trying on m&s today and I think an L would fit her (being slightly too small on me!)

I am tall (5'8") and size 8. I got S/M. It comes down to about 2 inches below my knees and the arms are perfect. It's pretty big on me - there's almost too much fabric when I wrap it snug to my body.

It also falls open at the neck due to the weight of the hood.

I have sewn ribbons on the inside to keep it tied up and a button and elastic loop near the neck to stop it falling open.

It's perfect now, but I probably wouldn't have bought it if I'd tried it on before buying.

S/M (and L/XL) cover a large range of sizes, which I guess is OK for a dressing gown.
