Having it done this Saturday. I booked it about 10 weeks ago, after dithering for a year or two. I'm almost 54 years old. Eek!

I think you're very brave (and maybe a bit nuts?!) having all that done under local! Fair play 👏👏

DramaAlpaca · 22/10/2023 00:57

Now for rest and recovery, you've been through a lot today. I couldn't do that without a GA, you're brave for sure.

Hope you get some sleep and feel better soon.

coxesorangepippin · 22/10/2023 02:33

Have a safe recovery op

🎉

madeinmanc · 22/10/2023 07:59

I suspect your swelling is going to be worse as you wake up this morning (going off my own experience of surgery on the face). You can do this, it's all going to be worth it in the end 💪🌻

madeinmanc · 22/10/2023 08:04

Make sure you move around (in a safe manner, maybe with husband's help) to so you don't get a blood clot. Maybe someone else who's more knowledgeable can give the proper advice.

FlorenceBoot · 22/10/2023 09:08

I work in the Industry and we would never recommend all those procedures under a local .. but didn't want to scare you so kept quiet

She probably wouldn't have taken any notice as she'd put her faith in her surgeon.

I think it's worrying that Queen didn't meant with her surgeon until the morning of the surgery.

Best of luck, OP.

vanillapods · 22/10/2023 09:23

I feel for you. Be prepared for a miserable few days and will probably start feeling better at around day three. Will be worth it in the end.

Westfacing · 22/10/2023 09:38

You're a braver gal than I am! I hope you make a good recovery and have a good outcome.

I used to nurse in a major private hospital, and have friends who've had work done but have never heard of bleph, neck and facelift being done under LA - no wonder your legs were shaking.

To be honest I would personally steer clear of any surgeon who didn't see me prior to the day of surgery - I'm not sure that that's even ethical.

CollagenQueen · 22/10/2023 09:50

Didn’t sleep at all! Pain was so severe I was just pacing all night. Finally rang 111 at about 3am out of sheer desperation. They were brilliant. Got me in at our local Out of Hours quickly and the lovely nurse prescribed me strong pain killers which have now kicked in. I can’t believe the clinic thought I’d get by with paracetamol and co codamol!! The nurse said it was verging on cruel! DH will be having strong words when they call me today. Other than that I’m ok albeit still uncomfortable. The head gear is tight and digs in. Let’s hope it’s all worth it! Just look exactly the same as yesterday.

God OP. The clinic sounds fairly irresponsible, certainly regarding pain relief

Hope you'll start to feel better soon.

tribpot · 22/10/2023 10:05

Sorry to hear you've had a rough night. Thanks for continuing to document this journey.

Finestreason · 22/10/2023 10:53

Was the lack of GA due to minimising the surgical risk or to reduce the cost of having the anaesthetist?

I can’t believe that they didn’t give you adequate post-op pain relief. That is awful! Look after yourself, keep it all topped up on the pain meds.

Finestreason · 22/10/2023 10:54

Just ignore my question, OP. I don’t know what I’m on about. Was a general question really.

Just rest up and look after yourself.

CharlotteRumpling · 22/10/2023 11:01

Wishing you a swift and easy recovery.

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 22/10/2023 11:03

This sounds a bit scary tbh, especially the speed at moving to a facelift and under a local.

It sounds like you planned to work this coming week Queen but you really should allow yourself a good period of rest to recuperate, you've been through a heck of a lot.

Hope you manage some quality sleep today. 💐

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 22/10/2023 11:10

Sorry ignore me, read back and can see you've booked this week off (it was mention of seeing a client made me think otherwise). 💐

QueenBitch666 · 22/10/2023 12:21

I had a lower face and neck lift with lipo one year ago. Best thing I've ever done. Good luck!!! You'll look amazing! Flowers

OldKingCole · 22/10/2023 14:13

Wishing you a speedy recovery- can’t believe they didn’t give you adequate pain relief for afterwards - not great care from them. I’m sure these few days will be hard - but hopefully so worth it!!

madeinmanc · 22/10/2023 14:33

Hope your OK, slightly worried you haven't replied but hopefully that means you're just resting.

MoisturiseYourMoose · 22/10/2023 21:44

While you obviously needed the stronger pain relief and I’m glad you got some, just wanted to say that it’s not common to get more than co-codamol (and sometimes not even that) after a lot of surgeries in the UK.

I’ve had 7 - 3 cosmetic - and I’ve not been given anything strong with any of them (and to be fair, haven’t felt I needed much). I vaguely remember that I have had tramadol after a hospitalisation when I was young but not after surgery.

WeeStyleIcon · 22/10/2023 21:46

Hope you"re OK. I always found paracetamol useless

Yep, I was thinking after my post about post-op pain management that I’d had a procedure done about 10 years ago and wasn’t given anything. I was glad that I brought my own codeine as I took it immediately after, I was in agony. And that was private UK. So maybe it is more routine to not give heavy pain meds.

I had a procedure done in the USA and they gave me loads of meds, even benzos. Far more than I needed.

Ditto! I was given paracetamol after a traumatic/emergency c-section and co-codamol after two abnormal surgeries at a private hospital.
