Having it done this Saturday. I booked it about 10 weeks ago, after dithering for a year or two. I'm almost 54 years old. Eek!

Thanks for sharing this, really interesting and something I'm considering so great to get your experience and feedback.
Really hope you are getting the pain under control and some rest/sleep. Bet you can't wait to see the results! Keep focused on that. 💐

coxesorangepippin · 23/10/2023 01:48

Bloody hell op hope you're feeling okay

Paracetamol FFS!

MetaverseMavis · 23/10/2023 05:39

I had upper Blenheim in March. Fab surgeon London / Surrey borders

The surgeon did a great subtle job. I've had so many compliments on how well I look. Nobody realises why and I don't tell

While you obviously needed the stronger pain relief and I’m glad you got some, just wanted to say that it’s not common to get more than co-codamol (and sometimes not even that) after a lot of surgeries in the UK.

I’ve had 7 - 3 cosmetic - and I’ve not been given anything strong with any of them (and to be fair, haven’t felt I needed much). I vaguely remember that I have had tramadol after a hospitalisation when I was young but not after surgery.

Same. I've had a breast reduction and an upper bleph and never been given anything strong either. I follow Dominic Bray on insta. He does face lifts. Very expensive face lifts! He and his patients say that there isn't too much pain afterwards. Swelling, tightness and discomfort, yes but pain, no. So just keep an eye on your pain levels, as it could indicate that something is wrong.

Ffsebok · 23/10/2023 08:18

Oh and you will sleep eventually. Combination of getting used to the position plus sheer exhaustion will soon have you drifting off!

blotchyredanditichy · 23/10/2023 08:41

Hope you are feeling better today OP

That's what I've read about facelifts too. I've also come home from surgery (non cosmetic ) with co codamol and paracetamol.

I hope OP is ok as her pain sounds concerning.

madeinmanc · 23/10/2023 08:54

Yes, it's worrying there's been no update. Perhaps the heavy duty painkillers have made her sleepy?

usernother · 23/10/2023 09:50

Hope you're ok OP. We're worried about you.

I've just had a look. Great results but good grief, the price! Only for the v rich.

Noseyoldcow · 23/10/2023 10:00

I hope that OP feels better soon, and that the surgery settles down and she is happy with the results. Whilst many - including me! - would say that my looks could be improved by surgery, I would never take the risk of elective surgery, nor would I be prepared to put up with the inevitable pain and discomfort. That said, I do avoid mirrors and being photo'd. Grin Each to their own.

Yes, hope you are healing up nicely and able to rest, OP.

Noseyoldcow · 23/10/2023 10:09

Also, it seem very wrong to me that people who have had elective surgery, whether here or abroad, expect the poor old overworked NHS to sort it out when it goes wrong. OP turned to them for much needed pain relief, and there have been other threads where people have returned from surgery abroad and get help from the NHS with infections etc.

ThisOrdinaryLife · 23/10/2023 10:18

@MetaverseMavis Can I ask who you went to please? I’d love to have this procedure but worry it wouldn’t be subtle. I’m sure Cat Deeley has had it done in the last couple of years and JKRowling many years ago too. I’d want a similar result!
OP I’m sure all you are going through will be totally worth it. Sending hugs 💐

I assume the OP is a UK resident taxpayer and therefore able to access NHS care

People who smoke, eat to much, drink too much alcohol, engage in dangerous sports etc can all all receive NHS treatment for their 'self-inflicted' health issues

zinfi · 23/10/2023 10:24

Absolutely @Efacsen

OP has had a few strong painkillers prescribed by the NHS. Hardly a burden.

🙄🙄🙄** i work for the NHS, people make choices that effect their health every single day so what? Would you say the same thing to someone who fell off their horse or motorcycle?

Hope you're okay op, I think you're really brave.

Tricky one this though isn't it because where do you draw the line. I had a breast reduction, which is elective surgery but I was miserable as sin and it affected every area of my life and restricted me in so many ways. My op was problem free but what if I'd got an infection? Would you have begrudged me having nhs treatment?

Hello all! I’m happy to say that I’m feeling loads better! Managed 5 hours sleep (sitting up on the sofa) last night. My pain killers were due at 11am and I didn’t need them! Such an improvement in 24 hours!

DH has been a star. Here is a pic of the new chin/neck area. Very swollen so will look better than this eventually.
