Having it done this Saturday. I booked it about 10 weeks ago, after dithering for a year or two. I'm almost 54 years old. Eek!

You looked absolutely amazing OP, I'm so pleased that it has gone so well for you.xx

Day 8 today. Everything so much better. Swelling is down. Don’t need pain killers anymore. Neck is still stiff though. I managed a walk to the beach yesterday, but realised I probably should have stayed at home, as my neck really ached. Eyes are still a bit puffy. Feeling okay overall though.

I’m impressed by the eyes but the change in your mouth is just astonishing! I also have a turkey neck and a sad mouth and you are making me contemplate the surgery…

Bloomingmagnolia · 30/10/2023 08:43

Great thread - thanks for sharing in such detail! Results look fab so far!

@WonkyFeelings

Happy31 · 30/10/2023 16:13

Great results so far. I had a double bleph 3 years ago, its made such a difference to me. Getting ready in the mornings is so much quicker and i no longer get asked, "didn't you sleep well"!!

Cherryana · 30/10/2023 16:34

Wow Op looking amazing!

madeinmanc · 30/10/2023 18:06

Thanks for the updates so far, @CollagenQueen . Even though I've followed stuff about cosmetic surgery since my twenties, I've learned stuff here and it's really made me think how much I need stuff done myself. And also thank you everyone who's contributed with their experiences. There must be so many people who've had surgery on Mumsnet considering how popular it is these days so it should be discussed openly.

Morning all 😊Nothing new to show. It’s day 12 today. I’m still a bit swollen and my eye lids still look like I’ve been crying all night 😂 I have an infection behind my left ear, so that’s been a bit scary. I’ve got antibiotics and cream for it. I think a stitch has come out, creating a flap of skin , where it would be a great breeding ground for infection.Getting a bit fed up of the headgear which is tight, but I know I have to keep it on to keep more selling at bay.

Hey OP, I'm sorry about the infection - it just goes to show there can be ups and downs when it comes to recovery. Hopefully it should clear up soon.

Can they replace the stitch if one is missing, or will it just heal up by itself? What has the aftercare been like from the clinic you used? Are you able to contact them for advice?

Thanks for keeping us updated with your journey - it's really good to hear this stuff because usually what we see on the clinic websites is just the lovely after photo.

Hello peeps. 2 weeks post op today. I think today is the first day I’ve felt something close to normal. I had no idea how brutal this would be. My neck is still stiff and swollen. My eyes are gritty. But I’m allowed to take the awful head gear off for a few hours every day so I feel almost normal. However, I look a bit like ET. I don’t look very good at all.

Glad you’re feeling better give it time you will heal.

I'm glad you're feeling better OP, don't worry about looking weird - you're still in the early stages of healing. I think it takes a while for everything to look how it's supposed to.

Have you been back in for a check up, or are you still on the antibiotics?

CollagenQueen · 05/11/2023 09:32

Yes still on antibiotics

I've followed a lot of surgery posts on Reddit and it seems really common for there to be a period of adjustment after surgery. Things have to settle down, swelling has to come down, then you can adjust to looking differently. It's probably not that surprising, even a new haircut can upset (as in disturb) people, it's no wonder people feel discombobulated after surgery.

Hope your infection clears up quickly!

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 05/11/2023 15:28

Can't thank you enough for this thread OP, I wish you a speedy recovery and great results. The change to your mouth is amazing, and it looks so pretty and natural.
I'm 51. One thing I'm mulling over is when to go for it? Turkey necks/chins run in my family and I've lost loads of weight in a year - great, but my neck now looks frightful and it ages me massively. I still want to lose another stone, do you wise people think it's better to hold off a neck lift until then?

FloweryFlump · 07/11/2023 19:26

I've followed your thread and just want to say thank you for sharing this journey. I'm the same age as you and have a similar neck and eyes. It's really helpful to see how you've got on. It does seem very brutal though.

madeinmanc · 07/11/2023 19:38

How's it going now? Hope everything's getting better now🤞

beetr00 · 11/11/2023 14:13

@CollagenQueen 3 weeks post-op now Queen.

Concerning that you've not been on for a while. Hoping antibiotics did the trick and you're feeling much better. 💐

CollagenQueen · 11/11/2023 17:12

Hi everyone. Yes, 3 weeks post Op today. I still have a bit of yellow behind my ear. It's better than it was. Surgeon says just to keep putting cream on and report back in 5 days. Still a bit swollen, but moving in the right direction. To a PP asking about weight loss, they did say to me to get to my goal weight before having it done, but I'm not sure I'll ever get there, and I had a week off work, so I just went for it. Neck is VERY tight. Even if I lost a stone, I can't see it being a problem. I still can't apply any eye make-up, it's too sensitive, but that's to be expected!
