Having it done this Saturday. I booked it about 10 weeks ago, after dithering for a year or two. I'm almost 54 years old. Eek!

After my hysterectomy I had the same trouble and was told to grate fresh ginger in to half a cup of hot water with the juice of a lemon added, it worked brilliantly - I still do it now if it all feels a bit sluggish and it gets results every time.

WeeStyleIcon · 25/10/2023 13:13

I'm laughing at a nurse recommending coffee and a fag 😂

tribpot · 25/10/2023 16:53

I don't drink coffee or smoke but I almost think I'd rather that than pureed spinach!

Damonalbarnsbigtoe · 25/10/2023 21:40

i think the results look good already OP. I hope you start to feel better soon and thank you for posting. It’s something I am considering in the future. It’s so useful to see the reality of the procedure. I hope you get a good rest tonight.

TroglodytesTroglodytes · 25/10/2023 22:17

Wow, amazing results.

Re the leg shaking. I had this when I had a complicated tooth extraction that had to be done in hospital and took 2 hours under local with numerous top ups. I was told that it is adrenaline causing the shaking.

CollagenQueen · 26/10/2023 07:26

Ahhh that’s interesting about the leg shaking and adrenaline! That’ll be it then. Horrible!

Glad to hear you're feeling better, I'm excited for you!

madeinmanc · 26/10/2023 08:12

Looks to be healing very nicely 😊

madeinmanc · 26/10/2023 08:22

I wish I could win the lottery this weekend and just book all the things I need doing: upper/lower blepharoplasty, Botox, lower face/neck lift (or full?), rhinoplasty, tummy tuck, boobs... 😔

Justleaveitblankthen · 26/10/2023 08:23

Loving this thread.

Re the Adrenaline anaesthetic: Happened to me when recently having a scalp pimple removed.
Got a bizarre feeling of panic and that 'this is a terrible idea/totally unnecessary/want to flee/shall I just run now??
It was only afterwards the Doctor told me it was the adrenaline.
I imagine my panic would be ten times worse having full facial surgery Confused

madeinmanc · 26/10/2023 08:23

Oh and arm lift but I've gone off that one after reading reviews, it's difficult to recover from (you always need your arms) and also weirdly expensive compared with other procedures.

Corretto13 · 26/10/2023 08:55

Glad you are feeling better. The first week is the worst.

Finestreason · 26/10/2023 09:16

Sometimes the LA can have adrenaline in it to improve the efficacy (similar to caffeine with paracetamol).

I am very sensitive to adrenaline being in a LA so always ask for the non-adrenaline one.

After 4 hours with LA, if it had adrenaline in it, that’s a shitload of adrenaline. That may have exacerbated your pain response, OP.

Your eyes are looking good!

TheLonelyGoatTurd · 26/10/2023 09:48

I got the shakes horribly during a procedure with a spinal block, I wonder if that contains adrenaline too.
Glad to hear you’re more comfortable, OP. When will you be completely dressing-free?

CollagenQueen · 26/10/2023 10:44

That’s very interesting about adrenaline! The restless legs that first night was almost as bad as the pain in my head!

The head garment has to be worn for 4 weeks! For the first 2 weeks it has to be on all the time, and for the second 2 weeks it must be on 12 hours a day. I think I’ll probably opt to sleep with it off then.

This head garment is designed so stupidly. The fastenings are Velcro, so there’s bare Velcro against your skin! I’ve had to shove soft bandages between, it was driving me to distraction!

Eye tapes come off on Saturday. Can’t wait!

I've also had an LA with adrenaline in which caused me problems (dental procedure). I felt like I couldn't catch my breath properly and ended up being unable to sleep all night. Since then the dentist told me to 'ask for the plain one' whenever I have a local. That said, last time I ended up having like 4 doses before I was actually numb.

barbarahunter · 26/10/2023 11:15

Did you have any stitches around your eyes, @CollagenQueen ? I did, but it hardly hurt having them removed. As I said before, my op was a few years ago now, they might not use them any more.

TheLonelyGoatTurd · 26/10/2023 13:23

4 weeks! Good grief! What’s the difference between your procedure and the one Wags had? She posted photos of herself coming home in the car with no bandages.

TheLonelyGoatTurd · 26/10/2023 13:24

Genuine question, BTW, not implying one way is better than another, but 4 weeks sounds like a long period of discomfort.

CollagenQueen · 26/10/2023 15:23

I did read wagsandclaws thread and also wondered how come she didn’t have bandages on in the car. They wrapped my head so tight with dressings and the helmet thing and I wasn’t allowed to touch it for 48 hours.

Yes. I have stitches around my eyes that are dissolvable.

Corretto13 · 26/10/2023 16:39

@CollagenQueen - re the horrid head thing... have you tried turning it the other way round (inside out?) ... this may alleviate the velcro situ. Also I didn't wear the horrid black thing after 2 weeks. But I wore the balaclava thing for most of the 4 weeks. I read somewhere that it isn't absolutely necessary but helps 'remind' everything where to go - which may explain wagsandclaws lack of dressings - I was wondering that too!

stillavid · 26/10/2023 18:15

Thank you for this thread, it is really interesting.

I am thinking of having upper bleph done and am in the south west. I have seen two surgeons for paid for consultations so far and both have agreed it would be beneficial to me. Interestingly their costs were pretty much the same at just under £6.5k to be done under LA with sedation. But this seems so much more than other people on this thread are saying.

I am seeing a third surgeon in London in a couple of weeks who is highly regarded so am assuming her costs will be even more.

All these surgeons would want to see me again before surgery. So I guess they are very thorough.
