I wear purple eyeshadow, ever since I asked at a JL beauty counter for advice on eyeshadows. “This will make your green eyes really stand out!” she said, and hearing my hazel eyes described as green was such a thrill I bought it and have worn purple ever since.

MidnightMeltdown · 19/10/2023 15:55

Yeah, I'm not massively into eyeshadow, but I tend to think that contrasting colours work best. Blue eyes tend to suit brown/coppery colours rather than blue.

Give the blue a try @pinkchampagne1

I have ordered the OK advent as well as my JL one. I got an extra discount at the time (not sure if the discount codes have now expired) which made it well worth it for the KS cream alone. Some of the other full sized products look good too.
The blue eyeshadow is a DOD for me as I have dark eyes. Not sure about the naked lady candle either! The other products make it well worth it though. You also get a voucher for 4 free editions of OK magazine if that is of any use.

Do you remember the code please?

@Puravida23 thanks I'm more tempted to buy it now :)

The code 10OK works to knock £10 off the price of the OK advent. I have just checked and it is still valid. It is 10 OK not 100k. I made that mistake the first time I tried it! 😆

I ended up with LF calendar after originally saying it had many duplicate products for me - the deal with the beauty chest swayed it, 162 for all that was a really good deal. I'll have to sell a few duplicates.

What’s the deal for the two? Thanks!

pinkchampagne1 · 19/10/2023 18:22

The Look Fantastic deal was that if you bought the £120 beauty chest then it knocked £30 off the calendar. There was then another code for I think 20% off. You ended up getting the chest and the calendar for £163

Beautydiva · 19/10/2023 18:25

@pinkchampagne1 ah, no wonder it wasn't working, Thank you!

wondabar · 19/10/2023 20:01

Does anyone know whether the premium Boots advent calendar has sold out as it will not allow me to order it on their website? Also, does anyone know when the M&S one is out? I seem to remember in the past it has usually been towards the end of October.

Talisin · 19/10/2023 20:25

M&S is out in exactly a week on 26th October.

simplespimply · 19/10/2023 20:50

@wondabar I've just checked their app and it's still in stock.

Puravida23 · 19/10/2023 22:41

For those who can’t wait for the surprise or those who are not sure wether to buy or not there is an M&S advent Calendar unboxing on you tube now

LadyLapsang · 19/10/2023 23:02

Liberty jewellery advent is available.

Dee1224 · 19/10/2023 23:04

@LadyLapsang - looks lovely but too pricy for me. I regret not buying it last year in the sale!

MidnightMeltdown · 19/10/2023 23:32

Hmmm... I feel like Liberty Jewellery calendar is far too pricey for what it is. It's only gold plated with a couple of bits of costume jewellery. There's only one or two items in there that I like the look of. I can't see it selling out.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 19/10/2023 23:36

£595! Are they having a laugh? For mostly costume jewellery?

MidnightMeltdown · 19/10/2023 23:50

You have to wonder who this is aimed at. I don't think that there are many people who would drop almost £600 on a 12 day advent calendar, and those who would, are probably not going to be the type who are happy with gold plated jewellery.

AprilLady · 19/10/2023 23:51

Agree that jewellery calendar is not remotely worthwhile at that price!

I had a work dinner near Harvey Nicks tonight, so took the opportunity to have quick browse. They had the advent calendar open and on display so you could actually open the drawers and look inside.

It’s really not bad. What stands out relative to others is the number of perfumes included. Unfortunately for me, there is

AprilLady · 19/10/2023 23:53

Was trying to say for me there is only one scent I haven’t tried and want, so overall it confirmed by initial view that it is a definite no for me.

MidnightMeltdown · 20/10/2023 00:13

Missoma do jewellery advents that are better value than Liberty. Not that I'm tempted to buy any of them.

Emmmmz9 · 20/10/2023 05:31

@Puravida23 thanks. What are your thoughts on the M&S one?

Dee1224 · 20/10/2023 07:24

The missoma calendar is pretty @MidnightMeltdown Thanks for sharing.

Dee1224 · 20/10/2023 07:28

Not really an advent calendar, but Estée Lauder have reduced the minimum spend to £25 to get their blockbuster set for £85 for a couple of days only on the EL site.

These sets used to be fantastic value, but have been getting worse. This one is about half the size of the one I first had maybe three years ago so I am restraining myself.

I assume the reduction is because they are not selling, plus EL have slammed their prices up over the last couple of years.

Dee1224 · 20/10/2023 07:30

I am tempted by the Clarins calendar. Does anyone have a discount code more than 10%?

Thanks

Karmaisagod · 20/10/2023 07:55

Hello, I've followed this thread with interest and I'm after a bit of advice.

I'm looking for a calendar for my 18yo DD. My budget is around £50. She had Soap & Glory last year, and this year's contents are very similar, so I've narrowed it down to between Holland & Barrett and M&S. Having just watched the M&S unboxing I'm wondering if actually H&B is better (despite the collagen capsules, which I don't think will be her cup of tea) - M&S feels aimed at more mature women than 18, somehow?

She loves beauty treats and really enjoyed last year's surprise, but she's not obsessed with really high end skincare brands - she does like expensive makeup but that goes on her Christmas list so that she can be specific about brands and shades.

What are people's thoughts/recommendations between the two?

Dee1224 · 20/10/2023 08:14

Hi @Karmaisagod - I have had both calendars before. I used to love the H&B one, but capsules, toothpaste and natural deodorants are a big no no for me.

Re your daughter: Both contain some items suitable for older skin. However, personally I think she might prefer the M&S one, unless she is really into vegan products, in which case H&B.

Alternatively, someone posted about the Sephora Xmas crackers and boxes - they might be more suitable.
