Continuing the discussion ...will there be some good discounts?

The Zar one from TK Max link appears to be the 2022 AC

beautyadventcalendar.net/zara-beauty-advent-calendar-2022/

I can't imagine they sold loads at full price as the products are quite samey

That to me looks like a calendar aimed at teens who want to experiment with makeup. Especially since it contains jewellery stickers.

MidnightMeltdown · 15/10/2023 17:34

There's a Sephora unboxing on YouTube if anyone is interested

Has anyone gone for that one?

I think it looks quite good, but I prefer the ones that I've bought. There are a few too many DoDs for me. If the price had been more similar to last years then I might have been more tempted.

Pinenu · 15/10/2023 19:09

I’m considering it @MidnightMeltdown

What are your DoDs in it?

(I’m hoping you’ll put me off so I can finally make a decision).

TragicMuse · 15/10/2023 20:34

Emmmmz9 · 15/10/2023 15:42

@TragicMuse oooh, I’ve got my eye on this box but just bought the calendar last week. Are they beautiful products?

They look fab and are mostly all really good proper sizes of tube or pot. I'm chuffed to bits!

QuizzlyBears · 15/10/2023 20:57

I’ve gone for Sephora for the second year running - it arrived today and it’s so heavy! I loved it last year and am excited for what I’ve seen so far for this year, largely trying to stay away from spoilers though.

Dee1224 · 15/10/2023 21:20

I have restrained myself from buying the Asos Calendar at 20% off - I have had it for the last two years, (20% off each time), and been quite pleased with it.

However, although I loved the CT palette and quite a few other things, there were at least six, maybe seven DOD - far too many for me to purchase and nothing I could really resell.

For example, I love my gua sha, but surely everyone has at least two now, (I know I do), Revolution makeup contains PFAs and I have no use for brushes or hair oil.

I can’t believe I have got to mid October without cracking…

MidnightMeltdown · 15/10/2023 21:54

@Pinenu

Some of them are DoDs because they are products that I already have, or have had lots of times (rather than because they are bad products), but the DoDs for me are the Neom candle, AA oil, rare beauty eyeliner, tan luxe, make up sponge, miniature bum bum, sheet masks, nail polish, Ren eye cream, and the eyeshadow pallet.

I'm also not sure whether the shade of the gxve lipstick would suit me, although the other lipstick looks really nice.

I already have the drunk elephant baby facial in my stash from a gwp, and I think that I also the glow recipe product.

There are some really nice bits in there too though! If there weren't so many repeats for me then I probably would have bought it.

BlowingAway · 16/10/2023 07:58

Just found the new thread.

I still haven't bought one, not sure if I will. I've had the Liberty calendar for the last two years which was lovely, but I may save my money for buying the things I loved from those ones.

Was going definitely to get the M&S but have looked at the contents and not loving it.

I also have Space NK vouchers I could use for that one but again too much I'm not bothered about.

Any other cheaper ones I should look at?

Puravida23 · 16/10/2023 08:17

The Cult beauty Xmas edits have just been released if anyone is interested in an alternative to an advent or is making their own .

Emmmmz9 · 16/10/2023 08:46

@Puravida23 ooooh, been waiting for these to see what they’re like

Puravida23 · 16/10/2023 08:51

Are you tempted @Emmmmz9 ? I was vaguely tempted by the skincare and luxury boxes but I think my DH will divorce me if I buy any more product so I am going to abstain

Peridot1 · 16/10/2023 09:10

I’m a bit underwhelmed with them @Puravida23. Have liked their edits before.

Possimpible · 16/10/2023 09:29

The only one that remotely tempts me is the makeup one (since I've gone for a calendar that doesn't have much makeup in it), but even then it's £42. I like the look of the ND mini palette but I could just get that for £24. The setting powder might be worth trying but how is 4g full size?! I usually use Laura Mercier and that's 29g for a full size. Even the travel size is more than 4g.

@BlowingAway People have been liking OK (think there is a discount code floating about) and I'm considering Elle. They're not cheap cheap like M&S, but less than the proper luxury ones.

Stokey · 16/10/2023 09:45

Cosmetopia did a video on OK last night. She said she preferred the Boots Premium for the price and I'm inclined to agree. Am thinking if getting that and splitting it between myself and the DDs (13 & 11) but not sure there's enough that will appeal to them.

Pinenu · 16/10/2023 09:56

Thank you @MidnightMeltdown I’ve just watched the unboxing after reading your review and I wasn’t impressed. It’s not for me.

Thank goodness that brings me closer to a decision. I think I’ll go for Selfridges if it discounts.

I might have gone for a couple of the CB edits instead of an AC but nothing is grabbing me.

Emmmmz9 · 16/10/2023 10:04

@Puravida23 me too!! But still considering a couple of other AC so trying not to impulse buy

BakeOffRewatch · 16/10/2023 10:37

Oliver Bonas jewellery advent calendars are out now, I’ve been waiting for these ones! £275. I don’t think they went in sale last year does anyone know? I know a few lucky people here got the Liberty jewellery advent calendar at a bargain price.

QueefofSheena · 16/10/2023 12:16

My Fenwick haul has arrived. I've haven't opened the AC but I'm happy with the GWP. It came in a nice box so I'll reuse it without the sleeve to pack up the bits I'm gifting to one of my Dsis. The Bobbi Brown mini lipstick from the free samples is a good shade for me too.

MeetPetaka · 16/10/2023 12:34

I have ordered the Ritual premium calendar, largely and childishly because it comes with fairy lights. Anyone had one of theirs before? I also tend to prefer body/face care gifts as opposed to make up gifts.

shinny · 16/10/2023 14:29

Got the Cult Beauty Edit boxes but they’re very pricey. I’m sure I got a few one year and they were nice gifts but I think the Next ones look better!

off to check out the Boots premium one now…

Dee1224 · 16/10/2023 14:31

I have just collected my advent calendars and Xmas socks from WS - two separate orders. I am very pleased.

Dee1224 · 16/10/2023 14:33

@MeetPetaka I have had the Rituals calendar a couple of times and reuse the lights every year. I kept the village scene for the following year and used it as a decoration but got rid of it recently as taking up space. They are lovely calendars.

I have the 2022 basic 2D version ready to go this year as I got it earlier in the year at the outlet much reduced and saved it.

Possimpible · 16/10/2023 14:38

@Dee1224 I got an email late last night to say they are working on my order... Still half expecting it to be cancelled since it's not yet been dispatched.

@MeetPetaka I had it in 2020 I think. Bit of a faff to put together, just a heads up not to wait till 10pm on November 30th like I did..! I do like their stuff but I tend to avoid single brand calendars now.

@BakeOffRewatch No idea about discounts sorry, but have you seen the Astrid and Miyu calendars? More earrings than necklaces/bracelets, but I think they look lovely. If I hadn't committed to my expensive one already I'd be considering it
