Waterproof winter coat for football mum

I am currently soaked to the skin and frozen watching my son pay football. I need a longish warm waterproof to get me through the season. Any recommendations for one that’s under £200?

a bit of a cliche but how about a dry robe type coat? We have White Water ones which are a bit cheaper

I’ve got this and love it. I don’t think it’s the warmest coat ever for the depths of winter but I’m very cold blooded. It’s perfect for chilly and wet days though.

GARDEN20 is giving 20% off Seasalt, not sure when it expires.

Ordered the janelle coat, in petite cos I'm a short arse, hope it keeps me dry at ds's football!

Another vote for the Didriksons Erica. I bought it for dog walking in the cold, rain and snow but it’s too warm. Seems like it would be perfect for standing around in, though!

olympicsrock · 07/10/2023 17:09

I have the sea salt Janelle. Nice and long at the back and really wind proof . Hood stays up nicely. Not a very glamorous coat though.
I also have a dry robe which is heaven for the really cold days.

The best winter coat I've ever had was from Primark! It was a standard £20 parka, and not the most stylish or flattering, but it's so warm, and although it wasn't labelled as waterproof, it does completely kept the rain out. Plus it has a massive hood and very deep pockets. Similar to the Didriksons one in how it looks but it's lasted me 8yrs of school runs in the worst weather (I don't drive). We call it my outside duvet because it's so cosy!

Notateacheranymore · 08/10/2023 18:29

Try Next. I think I paid £60 or £75 for my navy one last year.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 08/10/2023 18:30

Asda have some nice padded ones under £50. Worth a look.

Thermal lined gloves & bamboo socks will help keep you warm.

Stayeduptoolateagain · 08/10/2023 18:40

I have this one and it fits the bill. I'm also a football mum and am usually out in all weathers for much of the cold, dark winter months.

Another vote for seasalt janelle.

vestedinterests · 08/10/2023 19:36

Yup, agreed. Seasalt Janelle in regular length, I am 5.3 and ordered Petite and the Regular one but kept the regular and it keeps me warm and dry

Sleepyteach · 08/10/2023 20:20

I have a lovely snuggly long puffa coat from Gandys, they don’t have them any more (this years isn’t as puffy) but there are a few on vinted and they are really reasonably priced.

Invisimamma · 08/10/2023 20:22

Didriksons, they're a Swedish brand and super warm and waterproof. I'm too short though and had to return it, gutted because it was such a good quality jacket.

I went for The North Face long parka instead.

EwwSprouts · 08/10/2023 20:25

I'd go and have a trawl through TK Maxx. They have usually have some Scandinavian ones at a good price. I also recommend Bogs wellies which were an absolute revelation, toasty toes!

CrotchetyQuaver · 08/10/2023 20:26

Just bought a sea salt Janelle a couple of weeks ago, it's warm, wind and waterproof with a good hood. I'm rather pleased with it.

Iinventedmckenzie · 08/10/2023 20:50

For proper cold, wet weather, I go for a puffy gilet under a waterproof coat. I haven't found a warm, properly waterproof coat I like yet, so prefer this combination

TokyoSushi · 08/10/2023 20:51

Also a (double) football Mum. I have a Seasalt Janelle, excellent when it's wet, but not that warm. And a Rab Deep Cover Parka, excellent when it's cold, but not that waterproof!

covetingthepreciousthings · 08/10/2023 20:56

Another vote for Didriksons, very warm and totally wind / waterproof.

You can usually get good deals on them too. Had mine 2 years now and it's the best winter coat I've had.
