Anyone tried it?

Is it worth the hype?

I've just got giddy about making the top of the list, ordered, then wobbled if I've been hooked by a sales technique 🤦🏼‍♀️😆

MissingMoominMamma · 02/10/2023 21:47

I found their perfumes lovely, and you get a sample, so can send the bottle back if it’s not to your taste.

My subscription was a victim of the cost of living rise 😕.

itsnothingoriginal · 02/10/2023 21:49

I was on the ledger for a year. Loved 2 out of 4 of them but just couldn't justify spending that amount a year. For me the issue is the longevity - love the fragrances but they are so ephemeral!

Levithecat · 02/10/2023 22:13

I am on my fourth - I do love them and I always get compliments. However, it’s going to take me about 5 years to get through them and I am missing having a really contrasting scent - don’t feel I can justify buying any other perfume but craving something sweeter. So I’m going to come off the ledger for now.

LBOCS2 · 03/10/2023 21:12

I joined a couple of days ago and have just been offered a place on the ledger - have I been lucky or do we think it's a marketing technique? It feels less exclusive because of it, which I'm fully aware is ridiculous.

Ypsilanti · 03/10/2023 21:30

I was similarly worried I’d got sucked in by good marketing, but I’ve been impressed. Summer 23 was my first bottle, which I love, but probably would never have chosen for myself. I got my bottle of autumn 23 the other week and while I quite like it, it doesn’t suit me at all, so I’ve exchanged it for spring 22 (they keep some ‘archive bottles’), which is gorgeous and I have kept. As others have said, you get a little tester spray and if you don’t like it you can return the main bottle so long as so long as it’s unopened. The packaging and concept is beautifully done and it’s a real treat to open. I don’t get through perfume that fast, so I suspect I’ll see the year cycle out and take a break. Would definitely recommend though.

I had the same thing earlier in the year and felt similar. But actually, if it is a marketing ploy does it really matter? It is a limited edition run and they will want to sell it out - they are never going to mass produce perfumes so there is a level of exclusivity in that.

This is what I was thinking.

When pp mention stopping, is it a subscription? How does it work? I don't really understand how it works.
Admittedly I barely use perfume and have quite a few bottles of others that are mostly full, I just got caught up on the whole sold out story that I saw on the advert.

OP posts:
Duolily · 03/10/2023 21:45

Im sure it is a marketing ploy… I’ve been on it for a while, kept Autumn 22 but returned all the ones since, either don’t like them or find they are too similar. I also don’t find they last that long throughout the day unfortunately

StandUpStraight · 03/10/2023 21:51

I had spring and summer, but I didn’t love either of them and they really don’t last at all - they are very light and very ephemeral, as a PP said. I’ve given up my place on the ledger now. I think I’d rather have a single, perhaps more expensive bottle I love than pay this quarterly fee on the off chance that one of them works for me. Don’t do what I did the first time and fail to realise there was a tester in the box, break the seal on the bottle and be stuck with a not-right perfume.

users953269 · 03/10/2023 22:01

Interesting. I might not bother then if it isn't longwearing.

It says £75, so is that a one off payment for one bottle or some kind of subscription?

caramond · 03/10/2023 22:10

I've got about 6 bottles by now and mostly really liked them. I do find the scent isn't very long lasting and it definitely isn't a strong perfume in general. It seems to improve over time though, I've used up the bottle from summer 2022 recently and it was somehow better after some ageing.

To answer your question, yes it's a subscription but you can opt to skip some or send it back if you don't like the tester. They release 4 scents each year, one seasonally for the equinoxes and solstice.

Thank you for this. So is it £75 per bottle, 4 times a year? X

Yes, that's correct.

Cannotthinkofanametoday · 07/10/2023 09:17

I have the Autumn 23 as my first and I think I was drawn in to all the clever marketing. I am going to cancel my place as I think it is rather over hyped. I tried the sample and thought “ooh this is different, I could like this” but after wearing it for a few weeks now, I don’t really like it. It wears off very quickly, I sprayed some on for an evening out on Thursday, and by the time I got home it had completely evaporated. I don’t get the excitement for piece of terracotta that you get, or a folded picture of a flower that would be impossible to frame due to the creases. So, all in all a waste of money for me!!!

HareSong · 09/10/2023 15:50

I joined this summer, and Autumn 2023 was my first bottle. Hated it, so back it went! At least the returns process was painless. Rather than a refund, I opted for an archive bottle (Spring 2022) which I love. It's a very light scent, though, so probably one I'd save for springtime to wear.

I think I will see what Winter 2023 is like, and will then decide whether to stay on the ledger or not. It is a lot of money, but I do love the idea of a seasonal bottle each quarter. Something to look forward to. I'd rather go for a smaller bottle and less money, though.

Aquamarine1029 · 09/10/2023 15:56

Autumn 2023 was dreadful. Sent it back and I gave up my place on the ledger.

newroundhere · 07/11/2023 01:20

I have just been offered a place on the ledger (after joining the wait list yesterday...) and the price is £89 / bottle. Has it just gone up? Up thread people mentioned £75 each...

HareSong · 15/11/2023 16:43

Blimey, yes. Looks like it's gone up. The website is now saying £89. Well if that is the case, I'm definitely out.

SirVixofVixHall · 15/11/2023 16:56

It has gone up ?
I have subscribed for a few years now, and some scents I have liked more than others. I do find they wear off very quickly, like most citrus based scents. I am also a bit bored of how similar they are; From season to season there are only small shifts, and I would rather have something more feminine from time to time . I tend to wear it more in the Summer as the scents are all citrusy and herbal, which is nice on a hot day but less so in chilly weather.
I think my favourite was Summer ‘21, which smelt of cut hay.
i did quite like this Autumn’s offering I think, but I have misplaced the bottle!

BetterCare · 15/11/2023 17:00

There is a physical store now if you are near London, where you can purchase or try the perfumes before signing up.

I have not been myself but the website says you can try previous and new releases.

Just seen this:

Winter 24 'The scent of a rose amid snow'.
Launch Date: 12/22/2023

So that might be more feminine, perhaps? I might give it one more go, and if I don't like this one, I'll cancel my place.

SirVixofVixHall · 21/11/2023 23:47

Mm yes I really like the sound of that.

Jeffsmeffsmiff · 15/12/2023 16:04

I just got my winter24 today. Anyone else? I like it but I'm not sure whether I like it enough...
