Anyone tried it?

Is it worth the hype?

Yes, got mine today too. And I really don't like it. I'm not getting any scent of rose at all! I'll be returning it, then cancelling my membership. The last three bottles I've had have all been rather same-y - citrus and wood, and not in a good way. Such a shame, as I love the premise.

FluffMagnet · 15/12/2023 16:17

I got mine today and found it very heavy on rose, especially as the top notes wear off a little.

Levithecat · 15/12/2023 19:33

It’s got more lasting power and feels quite pure - I’m impressed. Just not sure how it smells on me

Just goes to show how personal scent is! I'm not getting rose at all, and I love a rose perfume...

SirVixofVixHall · 16/12/2023 08:49

I am not getting much rose either. Very minty, but the rose is very light. I am going to try the sample again today.
I love Tauer Incense Rose for Christmas time , so perhaps that is swaying me as it has a luscious dark rose with the incense over the top.

Jeffsmeffsmiff · 16/12/2023 10:22

I'm wearing it again today to try and make my mind up on it. I definitely don't think it's "Christmas-y" but then as soon as we get to NYD I want something cleaner anyway so maybe it's a good Jan fragrance. Going to give the sample a few more wears to think about it

Jeffsmeffsmiff · 16/12/2023 10:22

I do get the "rose in the snow" though.

Weefreetiffany · 16/12/2023 10:28

Yes I used it a few years ago and had to wait two months for the ledger (definitely a sales technique but one that helps manage supply and demand for small batch perfume making I would imagine)

the issue was I couldn’t use the perfume fast enough, even liberally spraying myself and clothes every day it would take longer than the three months before the next one came to use it up and I just couldn’t justify the spend every quarter. I think they now offer two perfumes a year instead of four, but I’m in love with Sana jardins sandlewood temple so that’s my current go to.

absolutely love their podcast “as the season turns” though, please listen if you havent already.

Jeffsmeffsmiff · 16/12/2023 12:56

Ha! @Weefreetiffany you are a bad influence. I just ordered a sample set from Sana jardin 😁

Has anyone else had their equinox perfume?

I have just unpacked it and am quite unsure about the scent. I hope it fades into something a bit more palatable as I don't yet love it...

Jeffsmeffsmiff · 20/03/2024 19:25

Yes me. I wasn't keen. I've sent it back for a.refund. shame because I loved the winter one.

It's fucking awful. I absolutely HATE it. I have sent mine back and I'm ditching Ffern. Every release for the past year+ basically smells the same. Such a disappointment.

greeneggsandhamhocks · 20/03/2024 23:14

Spring 24 is nice, a bit softer and sweeter - prettier - than I expected. I was hoping for astringency from the rhubarb but it's more like powdery candied grapefruit peel.

I'm not a great citrus fan and it looks like a lot of their scents are citrusy.

I like the sound of Autumn 23, thinking of going to try that in the shop.

Dotandcarry1 · 06/04/2024 12:41

I have just removed myself from the ledger. I love perfume, but I found all the ones I tried to be virtually the same. The packaging is beautiful, but I got more pleasure from that than I did from the scent. The whole marketing concept is ingenious, of course, and makes you feel very special, but I don't buy into it. My initial enquiry gave me a "spot" with surprising speed, given how many are meant to be eagerly waiting. Save that £79 a quarter up for a year and buy yourself something truly spectacular.

Onemoremakesthree · 10/04/2024 18:11

Just seen this in active, I also have given my place up. Loved the hype more than the scent!

I have just discovered a lovely local (Sheffield) perfumery called Abbey, they do a discovery box of samples (£25 I think) that I'm just working through, they're gorgeous!!!

Thanks for the recommendation - I'm going to give them a go!

My first one was autumn 2021 (I think), and it was my favourite perfume ever. Really smoky, with the scent of trees. I walked through a forest in Italy a couple of years later and wondered whether that’s where they’d got their inspiration from.

Everything after was nice, but not wonderful. I left the ledger a couple of years later.

TomWambsgansSwans · 05/10/2024 12:13

I like the new autumn 24 perfume.

I do think I might be coming to an end with my subscription though - literally nobody ever comments on my perfume so it clearly it isn't very long-lasting!

Meanwhile, although Diptyque is expensive, I can smell it on myself during the day.

Meanwhile, although Diptyque is expensive, I can smell it on myself during the day.

I sprayed the new one and said out loud 'They all smell the same' just before it turned dusty and dry and now I'm trying to work out if I should keep it.

They all seem to have a powdery candied citrus heart which is not my favourite thing.

MissingMoomin you've inspired me with that description, that's just the sort of thing I love. Is it possible it was Autumn 23, which is meant to be smoky? Autumn 21 sounds more woody but now I want to try it! It's still available to buy.

Branster · 08/11/2024 21:50

Does the Autumn 24 really smell like quince fruit?
As far as I know it's impossible to 'extract' that specific scent from the fruit.
I've been searching for a real quince scent fragrance for 15 years and it doesn't appear to exist.

BeBraveLittlePenguin · 24/11/2024 11:20

I got to the top of the ledger the day after joining, probably because you've all cancelled 😀
I love the autumn one. Hate it for the first 10 mins when it's all brash and air freshener-y, but the rest of the day it's just lovely. Never smelled a quince so not sure if it smells like one, but it definitely smells autumnal. Sort of piles of orange leaves.

TomWambsgansSwans · 24/11/2024 15:00

@Branster I'm not sure what a quince smells like! It is very nice though. I didn't love the rhubarb one in the summer.

Branster · 24/11/2024 21:09

Thank you @BeBraveLittlePenguin and @TomWambsgansSwans , this sounds very promising. Now I need to consider this subscription service.

A quince has a very distinct smell. Something between lemons (in the way of sharpness) and yellow apples (in the way of warmth). I can't think how else to describe it but it us in fact a very unique fragrance. Really, really beautiful and natural.
These are the big, yellow hard fruit with a layer of furry dust on top and you can find in some farm shops around September/October.

There is another variety in small dark reddish colour and these have absolutely nothing special about them. No smell as such.

TomWambsgansSwans · 30/11/2024 22:12

You can order a bottle and it comes with a separate tester, so if it's not for you it can be returned without charge.

greeneggsandhamhocks · 08/12/2024 15:33

Be warned that there's a period of 10+ days before the order is posted during which they won't let you make any changes to your subscription. When they email you about the next order it's already too late to change it (skip it or cancel) and there's no way to cancel via the website, you need to email them and wait for them to send you the cancellation form. I keep getting caught out by it so I'm cancelling my subscription.
