I want a uniqlo bag, that's NOT the Uniqlo bag

Has anyone seen anything at any price point that's just like the Uniqlo bag but better quality - leather/suede etc?

I've looked in so many places and can't find anything.

Ive discounted whistles, jigsaw, Oliver bonas, wolf and badger, all saints, other stories, hush, anthropologie, cos (I love the cos bag but don't like the way the strap buttons, and I want to wear a bag high up and not have loads of excess strap hanging down).

Help! Surely everyone would be copying this bag now it's so popular 😁

Every time I see "vegan leather" I laugh given its just way to charge idiots more money for plastic / polyurethane.
I think those sellers/vendors should be prosecuted under the Trade Description Act. It is not leather!

Leather is an ancient, durable material created through a process of tanning animal rawhide to preserve it.

I agree with those recommending the Honey and Toast half moon.

It's really lovely leather and ages so nicely, it's not huge but i can fit my essentials in it and i like that it is structured and not like a sling bag where you can never find anything as it all shifts when you move it.

Honey & Toast half moon bag. I have the Uniqlo bag and one of these. Very similar size although the H&T is new and so the stiffness of the leather prevents stuffing in quite so much. Can knot the strap to make it short, or ask for additional holes to the added (customer service is excellent).

@LaRevolution i have the Custine XL. Dithered between the regular and the XL for ages but am pleased with my choice - can fit all my essentials plus a 500ml bottle of water. Doesn’t need to be full as it slouches down when there’s less stuff in it. Comfy to wear, goes with everything. I use it to keep my essentials handy and add a backpack to/from work if needed. Definitely recommend!

@askmenow yeah, it’s just a fancy name for plastic polyurethane material.. nothing new but it does sound posh ,,vegan leather Lol!

Yes, vegan leather should be a protected term that refers to those faux leathers made from grapes and whatnot. It shouldn’t be allowed to be used for plastic.

If you love the Cos bag you could have the strap shortened. A decent shoe repair place should be able to do it for you.

A poster recommended Massimo Dutti on another thread. I love this bag. It’s about £100 though!

Just popped back on to say a massive thank you to the mumsnet collective for coming up with such a brilliant list of bags 😀

I am off to try the COS bag at the weekend as it fits the bill best (can wear across my back, can be worn either side, so I can put the zip in the preferable place across my body).

In case anyone interested, I got the COS bag and I love it. There's no spare strap hanging down, it's the perfect fit and the perfect colour in chocolate brown 😊

I highly recommend it! I did nip into uniqlo to contrast and compare, to be fair those uniqlo bags are brilliant. But I love my lovely cos bag so much.
