I want a uniqlo bag, that's NOT the Uniqlo bag

Has anyone seen anything at any price point that's just like the Uniqlo bag but better quality - leather/suede etc?

I've looked in so many places and can't find anything.

Ive discounted whistles, jigsaw, Oliver bonas, wolf and badger, all saints, other stories, hush, anthropologie, cos (I love the cos bag but don't like the way the strap buttons, and I want to wear a bag high up and not have loads of excess strap hanging down).

Help! Surely everyone would be copying this bag now it's so popular 😁

Does anyone have the Rivegauche Custine or Custine XL? I've been dithering on that for a while, although now wondering if I should put that money towards a Honey and Toast.half-moon bag! They do look like very stiff leather though.

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor Thank you! That's good to know - am tempted by the bumbag to get something a bit more upmarket than my Uniqlo one.

I've got 2 of these types of bags. Got the Scamp and Dude bum bag with gold studs and just bought another cheaper one from Matalan in leopard . Scamp and Dude one is Brill, roomy and very soft. Have used it loads all ready.

The Matalan one is quite like an All Saints version but way cheaper.

Why not take the bag to a good bootmaker who will cut it short & re-finish it for you? There's a shop in my town where they make their own shoes (oh so fugly) but they do this sort of thing - and repairs that are too specialised for Timpsons.

I was on the same quest as you as I felt the Uniqlo was a bit too casual/young for me to pull off. I ended up getting this one and love it ☺️ It’s lovely leather, soft, slouchy but not too slouchy, can be worn a few ways and comes in a few colours.

I'm presuming you've discounted the vegan leather versions of the bags at Uniqlo? I have one and love it.

I’m on the lookout too, and ordered the Arket one - a smaller version of the one linked up thread which now seems to be gone from the website. It was still too big and looked silly. I’ve discounted the All Saints one because if you want to wear it across your chest the excess strap would be ridiculous, so I’m sure the OP has also noticed that. Might just have to succumb to the Cos one 🐑

@FudgeSodaPops do you not find that the stiff base of the Apatchy bag makes it stick out too far from the body? It doesn’t look very soft or slouchy.

I’m not been funny but is vegan leather the new term for PU/plastic? Me and a friend were discussing this the other day when a shop were bigging up some “vegan leather “ shoes to her as if they were better than leather.

I do get if you just want a leather look rather than fabric people might be happy with this. But ime with a non leather/fake leather handbag the surface rubs off after a bit?

@happyshineyperson I think with the website pictures, they have stuffed the bag and makes it look really solid. If you have Instagram and check out their tagged pictures from customers you’ll be able to get a truer picture how it looks. I haven’t had any problems with it feeling like it sticks out. It’s been great being pretty hands free with little ones in tow.

@ theclosetstylist on Instagram features the bag quite frequently. That’s how I came across it initially.

IME it depends. I've had some really good vegan leather bags where the finish hasn't rubbed off (& I've had them years).

It will be interesting to see how this one lasts.

Ganni tech maybe? It’s nylon but fab. For me the main draw of the Uniqlo one is how light it is, Ganni is the same.
