Just for fun - an imaginary clothes splurge…

MakemineaGandT · 29/09/2023 18:11

I used to love watching Trinny and Susannah’s show when they’d buy someone a whole new wardrobe which all worked together and the person would be transformed….! I think they used to give £2000?

So, if you had £2000 to spend on clothes right now (I don’t, this is just for fun!) what would you get?!

This £500 bag from Chloe

£95 trousers from Sezane

£90 shirt from Sezane in all the colours I don’t currently have, so about £500 total

£300 mohair jumper from Acne Studios

£300 ridiculous jumper from Acne Studios

Wool mohair jumper - Black

Acne Studios black crew neck jumper is crafted from a rich wool mohair blend with a soft and fluffy hand feel. Cut to a relaxed fit with a hip length.

I'd pay for a personal stylist and do exactly what happened in the tv show, I'm 50, put on weight and have lost my way.

But it I looked like the models I see on the website I'd buy

Jumpers from celtic & co
Long boots from fairfax and favour
Walking boots from Bareback
I'd find the perfect jeans
Green Mulberey Alexa

Meadowfly · 30/09/2023 10:50

A bright pink cashmere roll neck, some smart but warm knee length black boots, a pink tweed blazer, some smart wool trousers, a couple of pairs of nice but everyday earrings.

Dighi · 30/09/2023 10:53

@UsernameNotAvailableNow you’ve completely nailed, but upgraded, what I wear (tho I did buy a version of that bag pre covid). Anyway. Brilliant. Can you recommend any jewellery? I give you another wad of money for the task 😊

Meadowfly · 30/09/2023 10:54

I sound about 110 reading my list 🤣

Meadowfly · 30/09/2023 10:59

Username- I’ve never looked at cezanne before! This could get expensive! The trousers look great - what is the sizing like?

PennyFarting1 · 30/09/2023 11:00

Long leather coat what shows off my waist or knee length leather boots.
A totally impractical Vampire's wife dress with nowhere to wear it to or the figure for (I've pumpkins for tits)

Supersimkin2 · 30/09/2023 11:15

Cashmere blanket as scarf, marl charcoal with nice flecks. Or orange, drool. Johnstons, of course.

Black Vejas or the insanely comfy navy Jigsaw leather trainers.

Witty Coat Brooch that doesn’t take six weeks of hacking through style undergrowth to find. Silver or decent fake. Double-faced wool dressing gown coat, Massimo Dutti.

Down puffa that doesn’t channel
Jabba The Hutt or Michelin Man.

This entire outfit

I suspect you wouldn’t get much wear out of it as it’s too distinctive to be trotted out every time you go out, but I saw it this morning and it’s such beautiful velvet- really slinky and sheeny.

Assuming this is purely about buying treats, I'd probably spend it at Tin Tin Collectables at Alfie's Antiques in Marylebone - the only vintage dealer I know who still regularly sells early twentieth century clothing, including 20s and 30s. (There may be one or two left in Camden Passage too.) I don't know exactly what I'd buy because it would depend on what he had in stock - that's the beauty of it.

If I had anything left I'd probably buy some fabric from Joel and Sons, a couple of doors down.
