Would you complain about these nails?

Had BIAB nails for the first time so I've nothing to compare against. Is this a bad job? First of all it hurt, during and after- my cuticles bled and have now scabbed a bit. And the biab looks all lumpy? Is this normal? Pics attached. I paid £35 and I felt that the person doing it had very little experience- she didn't even file my nails til after the product was on- but because I've only had gel before, not BIAB I'm not sure if that's the norm!

100% yes
I always get BIAB (ex nail biter so my nails are soft) - usually with gel colour over it. But they aren’t ever thick or lumpy & I’ve never had bleeding or scabby cuticles 🫣

Palindrone · 10/09/2023 21:37

I would complain (and I usually hate complaining) It's not normal for them to look so lumpy and they certainly shouldn't hurt.

Hollyisalrightactuallysorry · 10/09/2023 21:38

That looks so sore OP. Definitely not right and I does look puffy and lumpy

I would also complain

Doggymummar · 10/09/2023 21:38

For sure

incywincyspiders · 10/09/2023 21:40

I have been having BIAB since January. Usually you have your nails shaped and filed before the product is put on and then again after (although just buffing the product out).

That does look a bit bumpy in my honest opinion. I've attached a pic of my first BIAB nails for comparison.

Im so annoyed that I have paid all that money only to feel really unhappy and it's them! Do you think a decent salon could file the lumps out or something ? Or should I be looking to get it removed and start again? My nails are terrible- just so weak and won't grow at all Shock

That's awful. The person who did those needs MUCH more training before being let loose on the paying public.

ilovepixie · 10/09/2023 21:43

They look awful. Looks Like you've been icing a cake and not washed your hands after! I would ask for a refund and go to a better salon

Fishandchipsatthebeach · 10/09/2023 21:43

Sorry OP but those nails look awful for a professional job! I paint my own and they look loads better, and I’m not especially talented at nails 💅

Workermum · 10/09/2023 21:44

Thanks everyone. @incywincyspiders yours look fab- I'm very jealous! I think I will speak to the salon owner about it now I know it's not just me being overly critical!

Last time I had BIAB, it hurt and during the prep, they clipped my cuticles and every nail bled so they looked scabby when I wanted to show them off. I did complain and got money off by next visit (I'm a regular) and the staff member had more training.
They weren't lumpy like yours though, and they were filed into shape first.

Oldthyme · 10/09/2023 21:49

They look awful. So amateur.
Go get your money back.
Did she use emulsion paint to paint them?

Dolly567 · 10/09/2023 21:52

Why are they so thick and lumpy. Sorry, you have every right to complain Blush

SkinnyMalinkyLankyLegs · 10/09/2023 22:10

They look awful. I'm sorry. Definitely go back, no one would think you unreasonable for complaining about this.

Rockandrollfangirl · 10/09/2023 22:28

I had mine done Friday by a junior for £20 and they're not lumpy

fairyfluf · 10/09/2023 22:31

I don't know what biab is but I'm sorry those look terrible

Inca22 · 10/09/2023 22:37

Agree with @fairyfluf . They all look not good at all!

Viewfrommyhouse · 10/09/2023 22:39

Dreadful. I have my nails done every 3 weeks with BIAB, then usually a colour on top. Excuse the growth, due for a change on Tues! Nails should be prepped and shaped before the BIAB is applied. The application is awful - there is a skill to applying it! I'd want either a full refund, or someone at the salon more skilled/qualified to soak off and redo for free.

Polgara2 · 10/09/2023 22:40

Definitely complain! My daughter is a nail tech and she would be horrified to see them. They should look like, well, nails not lumpy batter!

boozeclues · 10/09/2023 22:40

They look terrible! But also your choice of colour is really difficult to attain, you need an experienced nail tech with extremely good nail colours for an all white or pearl nail colour. Most nail colours in white are incredibly thing and milky.

I would go back, complain and also ask for a different colour

Hollyppp · 10/09/2023 22:41

They don’t look good sorry

wavws · 10/09/2023 22:41

Sorry but that nail tech used you as a guinea pig OP. It looks like the first time they’ve done someone’s nails , can’t believe you paid £35. I’d actually complain and get a refund. BIAB looks just like normal nail polish when done properly, maybe a bit thicker from a side angle but there shouldn’t be lumps

Changingplace · 10/09/2023 22:42

I went to a salon once where she clipped my cuticles so roughly and dug the clippers in so hard I shouted ouch involuntarily! Never went back, but at least the finish on my nails was ok.

Sorry OP but you’re right, that’s not a good job at all :(

Redlarge · 10/09/2023 22:48

Yes they look terrible. Full refund is in order
