I love this HC tracksuit. Love it.

Not bragging, just to state, I'm same build as the model, but probably a bit shorter, 5ft 6. Also, same colouring skin/hair (if that helps, I know certain colours work better, although I've never had the colours things done on me.)

However, I've just turned 40 and a mum of 3, and I think I need to accept with dignity, that my days of chin to ankle skin tight clothing with 3 inch metallic gold slogans the entire length of the leg, are behind me. Or they certainly are if I want teen DS to leave the house with me.

What's an alternative that's got this look to it, without being too young? And before anyone shouts me down, yes yes, you can of course wear what you like at any age... but moving past that, can anyone recommend a more age appropriate version?

Thanks in advance x

I’d love to see pictures of all the posters making awful comments to critique their individual style. I can imagine the type of clothes they prefer.
It’s so rude the poster did not ask for anyone’s opinion

Serenity45 · 09/08/2023 11:19

I too am confused at all of the posters giving unwanted opinions without any suggestions Hmm

Fabletics do some really nice quality leggings / fitted tops with only a small logo on them. A good range of colours / styles (you just need to remember to cancel as it's a subscription but I've never had any problem doing this)

Moveoverdarlin · 09/08/2023 11:25

Holland Cooper are an equestrian brand. Those are base layers for riding. Go to Sweaty Betty or Lulu Lemon for everyday active wear.

PollyAmour · 09/08/2023 11:28

Are you looking for something to exercise in or just to lounge around the house in? The outfit you've selected looks nasty, cheap and gaudy.

dramoy · 09/08/2023 11:42

That is awful!

It's like a billboard wetsuit 🤢

So the times I'd wear it, are for round the house with small DC... But we often get impromptu visitors and end up going out, so I think this "fitted athleisure" I'm trying to find, looks a lot more sleek than the stuff I wear now, but I can still run after bolting twins, and climb up trees etc with them (our garden opens onto a massive park/woods).

I'd like to feel smart enough to go round the supermarket, or run an errand, but I am constantly on the floor with sticklebrix etc throughout the day as well.

The outfit I've "selected" is not what I want to buy. I don't know how many times this needs to be repeated.

tbf no matter how nice your outfit is it won't look great if you're spending your day on the floor, covered in glitter etc. You need childcare for that! 😆

Userengage · 09/08/2023 08:55

Op where do you get your oversized, off the shoulder tops from?

All sorts of places. Charli predominantly, M Life, some old River Island ones, John Lewis are pretty good for slouchy yoga type tops too.

I do. 4 days a week. But not all day.

My current outfits don't look knackered. They are just not the style I want.

I recently discovered LNDR activewear and really rate the quality and comfort of the items I’ve bought (Peachy Keen shorts for running, and a hoody with matching tracky bottoms, but not fitted, unfortunately for what OP wants)

I think their leggings would be amazing if they are anything like the shorts, and they do some nice looking tops too

It's hard to work out the style you want as you already wear leggings I believe so it's just a top change?

These are both just so dated looking now though, they're what everyone wore a decade ago. I was hoping some smarter alternatives might have emerged.

Both LL and SB new designs are barely any different and still really uninspired.

Personally I think the whole athleisure wear thing is really dated. I don't understand why you think the SB or lululemon look so different to a plain version of the one you linked though?

Have you looked at Fabletics. I’m not sure if they still give you a months free membership so if you do decide to sign up make sure you cancel the membership before you get charged.

I don't need childcare all day, thanks. And why you want to repeatedly comment on that is weird.

The style I want is like the one pictured, less the writing/uber branding. I am very aware its a base layer, it's the fit I like, not the fabric. Another example I gave was the EA fitted tracksuits, which again are very branded, but I like the fit.

I'd like them to be matching/co ords. A set.

Whilst these are not my style, I do think they look excellent quality and design, and will be passing this on to my friend who's into the gym. Thank you for this.

Fabric will dictate fit though...

BestZebbie · 09/08/2023 12:19

Is this the post-covid version of what used to be done with leather/pvc? If you don't want to go out in just your thermal vestWW baselayer, maybe that is the next direction to look in? Like Trinity from the Matrix but not so shiny...

ChristmasCrumpet · 09/08/2023 12:29

Yes I quite like the Adanola one, and the black one you've posted looks a good fit too. The link for the falke didn't work on my phone.

Pretty much what you've found. Ideally with matching bottoms. And also (although I realise this might not all be achievable) I'd quite like some form of detail. Whether that be an interesting zip, or a different texture panel on the arm or back. Just so it has something about it, rather than totally plain. But you've definitely got the right look/fit with the tops.

OP posts:
ChristmasCrumpet · 09/08/2023 13:12

So I typed in "fitted tracksuit" to Google.

First suggestion, the HC set Grin

Next is this, from Shein. Now. Ignore the dubious quality. Take the shite writing off the leg. Make the top a zip up, and keep the little brand/picture bit on the chest.

That! In grey, navy, khaki, black (at a push), tan, maroon.

Well, maybe less sprayed on, but definitely form fitted.

there's no age, gender or species where it's appropriate to wear it.

I always think the point of the skin tight/logo thing is the logos so there aren't that many non logos option.
