Help me be the mum version of this model

I love this HC tracksuit. Love it.

Not bragging, just to state, I'm same build as the model, but probably a bit shorter, 5ft 6. Also, same colouring skin/hair (if that helps, I know certain colours work better, although I've never had the colours things done on me.)

However, I've just turned 40 and a mum of 3, and I think I need to accept with dignity, that my days of chin to ankle skin tight clothing with 3 inch metallic gold slogans the entire length of the leg, are behind me. Or they certainly are if I want teen DS to leave the house with me.

What's an alternative that's got this look to it, without being too young? And before anyone shouts me down, yes yes, you can of course wear what you like at any age... but moving past that, can anyone recommend a more age appropriate version?

Thanks in advance x

This Gymshark is fairly similar to your original pic OP, but they do other colours too.

The name/style is cropped out, could you let me know what it is so I can check the other colours please x

But you're going to look daft. For anyone who knows it's equestrian gear you're going to look like a daft wannabe who's mislaid her horse.

For everyone else you're just going to look daft.

Sorry, look daft wearing what?

Have you missed the point entirely and not read the thread that I do not want the actual HC set?

It's a Sport 1/4 zip

She's not gonna look daft! She'll look comfortable and with that body frankly pretty good! One of the mums at school always wears this kind of style, it's the opposite of what I would wear (namely because I find close fitting clothes uncomfortable) but she looks great.

You like this ?? 😳

Haha, my thoughts exactly

Yes I read the thread. I think people trussed up in what is obviously intended to be utilitarian sports wear of any kind just going about their every day life not doing any actual sports look daft.

No she really won't look great.

Wetsuit chic! 🤣

A lot of jelly on here! How dare you wear something so body con! You harlot! wear a sack and cover thyself.

Gymshark sets are lush. Also check sweaty Betty. They have a great line in alth/leisure wear that’s not strictly just for the gym.

Thosesummernights · 09/08/2023 08:27

That’s HC’s equestrian range. They are uber comfortable and fit really well but the quality is shocking given the high price range. I wear them (jods) for riding and then when I’m running around afterwards. I wouldn’t buy another pair as the quality is so bad.

If you’re looking for stylish active wear then Sweaty Betty or LuLu Lemon are great but again £££ but they will last a lifetime.

How do you know whether someone is on their way to the gym or not, to decide that they look “daft”?

I wear activewear to go about my business because it’s comfortable and practical. Sometimes I’m on my way to an exercise class, sometimes I’m just out for coffee.

I too have a figure like the model in the original OP, but a foot shorter, and frankly I think I look great in my fitted hoodie and leggings. 🤷‍♀️

There is no age appropriate version of that mess because there's no age, gender or species where it's appropriate to wear it.

It's like the middle class version of Juicy tracksuits.

Let's rein it in a bit shall we 🤨

Blinky21 · 09/08/2023 08:32

Sorry but this looks so tacky, the branding is awful

No

LetMeEnfoldYou · 09/08/2023 08:34

Lovely. Look forward to hearing about you berating people in the street for their fashion choices, or is it just online you feel free to be quite so rude?

Usernamen · 09/08/2023 08:34

Hilarious to think a fit, toned woman would look “daft” in clothes designed for fit, toned women.

Activewear is not exclusively for exercise - that hasn’t been the case for decades.

Agreed. This isn't activewear though. It's a base layer designed to be worn under clothing.

Yes, I didn't realise some people would be so rigid in their interpretation.

The "fit" is what I'm after, not the particularly thin fabric, or something only labelled a base layer.

A very fitted tracksuit I guess.

Wow, your post has attracted a LOT of heat! S&B posters can often get confused with the question "where can i find something similar?" thinking instead they've been asked to say whether they'd wear it or do they like it. No need for a mean spirited pile on just because you don't like an outfit.

OP, I agree with the lululemon suggestion but I don't really know about these things. Oh, and I like that colour blue!

Agree with this. Like reading a Snapchat exchange between a group of Year 10’s.

whereaw · 09/08/2023 08:42

Activewear looks great on anyone who has the figure for it. Especially if you're shorter - it shows off any curves much better. I also would feel much more comfortable and free to race about with the kids and not feel restricted. Yes the gold is a bit much ( as you have also said!) but not sure it warrants this level of hatred!!

Good for you. I'm sure you're happy. Carry on. I still think it looks daft and unattractive.
