I love this HC tracksuit. Love it.

Not bragging, just to state, I'm same build as the model, but probably a bit shorter, 5ft 6. Also, same colouring skin/hair (if that helps, I know certain colours work better, although I've never had the colours things done on me.)

However, I've just turned 40 and a mum of 3, and I think I need to accept with dignity, that my days of chin to ankle skin tight clothing with 3 inch metallic gold slogans the entire length of the leg, are behind me. Or they certainly are if I want teen DS to leave the house with me.

What's an alternative that's got this look to it, without being too young? And before anyone shouts me down, yes yes, you can of course wear what you like at any age... but moving past that, can anyone recommend a more age appropriate version?

Thanks in advance x

Sweaty Betty or LuluLemon would give this sort of look, but the one in the pic looks like a wetsuit sorry!

Netaporter · 09/08/2023 02:33

@JaneJeffer 🤣

Fraaahnces · 09/08/2023 02:45

Looks like a neoprene ski suit from PLT

EleanorLucyG · 09/08/2023 03:55

OP why don't you just wear proper equestrian clothes if that's what you want? Jodhpurs or riding tights and an outerwear top in the same style. It's not hard to find and is worn by all ages. People who realise what you're wearing will naturally assume you're into horses though.

WhichEllie · 09/08/2023 04:25

Do you ride or do you just want to wear the clothes? You know the riding tights have silicone grips inside the knees/leg to help grip the saddle, right? They’re rather annoying to wear around. They’re meant to grip the leather saddle but they obviously grip leather upholstery too. Nearly ate it trying to get out of my car once because I forgot I had them on and tried to slide across the seat.

I have to say I’m rather surprised at how, er, loud that set is with the logos.

Link fail! 🤦🏻‍♀️

SameOldTed · 09/08/2023 05:06

I think it reflects current style which is a swing back to slightly "conspicuous consumption".

Amplified by lockdown, there has been a strong move to "casualisation" ie no heels, athleisure wear in public, tracksuits as everyday gear.

Body con dresses and lots of skin and heels VERY out. We're not going "out-out"! 1

However, there's now a swing to be a bit more "I earn money, people. But I'm still keeping it comfortable." The term is quiet luxury.

I'd interpret this in a "quiet luxury" way (see gwyneth paltrow at her ski accident trial, or meghan markle when she's at home. Or Lucia Loi (Manchester pr guru with first class degree. used to be involved with Marcus Rashford).

Neutral comfy casual covering base but dont spare the bling.

So I'd go for a plain black fitted outfit, with some gold jewellery to contrast. Decathlon do some nice plain gear, and then get some gold accents.

Nothing about the outfit OP posted is ‘quiet luxury’ though.

It is the antithesis of quiet luxury.

Wow, your post has attracted a LOT of heat! S&B posters can often get confused with the question "where can i find something similar?" thinking instead they've been asked to say whether they'd wear it or do they like it. No need for a mean spirited pile on just because you don't like an outfit.

OP, I agree with the lululemon suggestion but I don't really know about these things. Oh, and I like that colour blue!

Totally agree! this is the absolute opposite of 'quiet luxury', it's totally blinging!

It's not a tracksuit though. It's underwear.

I know, quite a few twatty posts eh! The message that seems to have been entirely lost, is that I'd like something like this, without the bling.

Yes, I'm aware it's a base layer set. And technically equestrian (let's not pretend 99% of the people wearing HC have even sat on a horse)

I'm at home with 3dc. I get covered in glitter, playdoh, glue, baking, gardening stuff. I live in yoga leggings and oversized off the shoulder things. Comfy. Not "neat" looking...I can't think of a better word, my clothes look more floppy and dishevelled, where as the HC looks neat and tidy.

No one appears to have posted actual suggestions which is what I was hoping for. Eg, I know Emporio Armani do quite tight fitted tracksuits. But I don't want a tracksuit with "ArrrrrMarrrrrNeeeee" emblazoned all over it. It's less in your face than the HC, but still too logo happy. I'll have a look at Lulu Lemon, but the world and it's dog seemed to wear it ten years ago, maybe it's been refreshed.

Would Skims outerwear be more along the right lines?

Uncooperativefingers · 09/08/2023 07:57

Tbh I think she looks "neat" because her hair and makeup is done in a clean sharp style and the cut of the neckline combined with her shoulder shape also look crisp.

Irl, it's still leggings and a base layer. If you like the cut of the top, you could check out equestrian show shirts. Some are more obviously equestrian than others, but they have that neckline and usually plain colours (navy, neutrals, white). They're usually made from technical sports material so would give a similar look without being skin tight

WildCherryBlossom · 09/08/2023 08:03

Have a look at Gymshark, Their leggings and base layers are well cut and well made and mostly quite plain - not heavily branded. If you get covered in glitter & playdoh a lot Gymshark stuff also washes really well.

ChristmasCrumpet · 09/08/2023 08:07

I've searched and found this. I don't mind it. It's still nice enough I guess, but there's nothing special about it.

And I'd prefer khaki/navy/camel/tan kind of colours.

I do really like the decathlon top posted above, pretty detail to the upper chest, got "something about it" in the way the L Lemon hasn't. I'll have a search of that brand for longer sleeved stuff.

I don't mind equestrian wear, but as long as it's not obvious jodhpurs or too much branding.

I've not seen anything similar tbh. If you like it get this one. Why buy a watered down version of what you want? If people want to judge let them get on with it.
I have my own style and if I love something I wear it regardless of what anyone else might think. They'll get used to it and if they don't, nevermind eh?

WildCherryBlossom · 09/08/2023 08:11

This Gymshark is fairly similar to your original pic OP, but they do other colours too.

@ChristmasCrumpet have a look at the Peloton apparel. I buy quite a lot of it and it washes well. There’s a 1/4 zip top available at the moment which looks neat and isn’t plastered with labels

Grapewrath · 09/08/2023 08:13

These threads are wild. Nobody asked ‘what do you think of this outfit’
Op I would suggest Adanola for nice quality gym wear or maybe skims? Skims have some nice fitted pieces. Lucky you having that shape!

I'll clarify, as I think this has misled people.

I love this, without the huge gold lettering.

The colour, the fit, the style. Yes. Love it.

The gold foil/logos...No.

@ChristmasCrumpet Le Mieux do baselayers and more legging style jodphurs that might work. They have hundreds of colours. It will be obviously equestrian to anyone who knows horses but perhaps less so to non horsey people.
Also agree with pp. avoid anything with seat grips, they will immediately make the outfit look like you're off riding and aren't practical for day to day wear.

I live in the heartland of affluent fit mums and they wear lots of athleisure from Lulu or Sweaty Betty, not something gold though usually
