Tiffany necklace equivalent

Ladies,

Since I have seen tiffany hardwear medium link necklace, I can't sleep at night. (https://www.tiffany.co.uk/jewelry/necklaces-pendants/tiffany-hardwear-medium-link-necklace-70751127/)

I love it- it is everything that I was looking for, but I am not going to get it (obviously, unless it on 90% sale)

I was looking for an equivalent, but I am torn;
a) I would never buy fake designer bags or clothing - is buying stolen jewelry different?
b) does getting something for around 300/500 pounds mean that the quality will be disappointing? It's a chunky necklace, and I want it in yellow gold

Does anyone have the original one or anything similar?
Any advice on where to buy something like this?

@cactidream Try Monica Vinader

For £300-£500 you won't get chunky gold. You may be able to get gold plated though.
I guess you are right. Buying a replica design cheaper from somewhere else is the same as buying replica bags. That design is identifiably Tiffany that same way a monogram bag is identifiably LV. Only you will be able to say if you are ok with that or not.
Monica Vinader do things you may like

okiedokie1 · 08/08/2023 22:49

What is it made of? The description doesn't say. It just says 'tarnish resistant' and made in China. It's not solid gold. I doubt it's gold plated even as they would have said. Ts probably just what they call 'jewellery metal'. In other words some alloy

Martinisarebetterdirty · 08/08/2023 22:53

I’d look for a vintage one, lots of Victorian belcher chains around that are quite similar and you’ll get it cheaper.

etinaz · 08/08/2023 23:02

This chain is something that a decent goldsmith/silversmith could make for you - a version of it anyway, rather than a direct copy.

Silver will be far, far cheaper - gold is madly expensive. A smith could make this/similar in gold-filled or silver plated with gold for around the £400 - £500 mark.

Solid gold will be far more.

See if you like anything on QVC 's website. They sell good quality items. Look for gold vermeil - sterling silver plated in gold.

TootenCarMoon · 09/08/2023 06:38

I was going to say ‘Get the real thing as you’ll love and cherish it and always wish you got it!’ Then I saw the price 😮

Marinacat · 09/08/2023 06:58

They have them for sale on Ali Express . Reviews are good but depends on how you feel about buying a copy!!

LadyPoison · 09/08/2023 09:43

It’s lovely and a fancy chain like that is not hard to make. Most small independent makers could do it.

Even in sterling though it won’t be cheap. There will be a lit of metal there and a lot of finishing. I’d be charging close to £1000 for it.

MistyMorningMelons · 09/08/2023 10:12

Do you want gold or gold plated? It's a lot of metal so will never be a bargain.

The Tiffany will be hollow or semi hollow at that price point.

I wouldn't buy gold plated, personally. I definitely wouldn't buy Chinese knock off.

I'd find something similar but not a dupe, if I couldn't get the real deal.

Gold- maybe not a 22k but 18/16k
or gold vermeil (like most of Monica Vinader's)

Unfortunately unless you are willing to compromise on solid gold the price will be high due to the gold weight.

justasking111 · 09/08/2023 12:20

I'm stunned at the price I have something like this but longer in 18k gold. It's very heavy. I've had it for decades. Don't wear it because I went off heavy jewellery.

Perhaps I should start wearing it now it's trendy again. My friend has an ingot necklace from the same era. I wonder when they'll come back into fashion

justasking111 · 09/08/2023 12:24

Are fob chains back in fashion. I used to wear grandfather's back in the day
