Tiffany necklace equivalent

cactidream · 08/08/2023 19:07

Ladies,

Since I have seen tiffany hardwear medium link necklace, I can't sleep at night. (https://www.tiffany.co.uk/jewelry/necklaces-pendants/tiffany-hardwear-medium-link-necklace-70751127/)

I love it- it is everything that I was looking for, but I am not going to get it (obviously, unless it on 90% sale)

I was looking for an equivalent, but I am torn;
a) I would never buy fake designer bags or clothing - is buying stolen jewelry different?
b) does getting something for around 300/500 pounds mean that the quality will be disappointing? It's a chunky necklace, and I want it in yellow gold

Does anyone have the original one or anything similar?
Any advice on where to buy something like this?

I can't see the link but try Fallon or Laura Lombardi - won't be solid gold though

Are fob chains back in fashion. I used to wear grandfather's back in the day

Good job I'm not a trend follower then. Mine has a double sided circular pendant with paintings of both grandparents in it when they were young. It's interesting to see family resemblance four generations forward. I occasionally used to wear it but the grandchildren can enjoy it one day. Maybe by then 14k gold will be on trend.

Sounds like a very lovely, interesting piece, I'd wear that if it were mine.

For people looking at the Pandora one I bought one similar from Amazon that cost £30 ish pounds. It is great quality and I have worn it every day since it arrived!

This is gorgeous.

But could you buy something from Pandora with a straight face? Eeeeeeek.

If you don't mind vintage / second hand you can pick up some bargains at this company.

Antique dealer here, good fob chains have probably quadrupled in value over the past 10 years.

Actual gold value has gone up significantly and a new generation of antique jewellery lovers are wearing their chains mixed with beads, silver and interesting bits. #neckmess

For goodness sake. The OP is yearning after an 18ct gold Tiffany necklace and people are suggesting silver chains that look nothing like it from Pandora and Amazon

BuntyCollocks · 11/08/2023 21:11

I have the Alta capture chain from Monica vinader. It is similar and the weight of it is delightful, although it’s not currently on the website. Tbh though the alta capture mini link necklace is maybe closer to the Tiffany one.

Looks good- the price is ok as well
it just needs an extra something... like a little ball in between clips,
Thank you! That's a good recommendation

An indie jewellery could make something similar (chain is pretty straight forward to make) for much less than Tiffany but as PP says a solid chunky chain, even in 9ct is unfortunately going to be more than £500.
For reference 18ct yellow gold is approx £52/g and 9ct is approx £25/g trade price....

BuntyCollocks · 11/08/2023 21:24

That’s the one! The mini as I said also looks lovely.

Purpleavocado · 11/08/2023 21:36

Monica Vinader give you a 5 year warranty if the gold wears off - I've had to exchange a ring where it rubbed off and a chain that broke

LadyPoison · 11/08/2023 23:04

The Monica Vinadar chain is light years away in quality from a well made chain. The links aren’t closed ( to do so would burn off the gold plate) and it’s very obvious.

The links are not 'open' due to cheap manufacturing. They are hinged. They hinge open and allow you to lengthen and shorten the chain. Christ. They are nit so bad that they would have screamingly bad design like huge open links

nameitagain · 11/08/2023 23:31

OP if you Google Tiffany hardware replica you will see there are dozens of companies making very similar versions. I've not taken a big look and so haven't found anything of the quality you want but I really wouldn't feel bad getting a copy. The market is full of them from very reputable shops.

cactidream · 12/08/2023 00:01

I have just realised that I have something similar in silver (I don't wear silver anymore)

Famous peppercorn necklace!
Would cost a fortune in solid gold- maybe gold vermeil would do!
I need to find a way to contact independent makers
