Is 65 “elderly”?!

Oh 😂
Seriously though, who is going to RTFT at this many pages?
If you are using the App as I do, you can't scroll to just the OP'S updates either 😶

IClaudine · 08/08/2023 16:26

I am suspicious of that photo. I don't know any 65 year olds who wear their hair that way, it is very old fashioned.

Maybe it's not even her then?

She's also claimed her daughter is older than the OP and it turns out that's not true.

So who knows.

LaMarschallin · 08/08/2023 16:34

My daughter's MiL does (she's a lovely person and DD gets on with her very well, I should add).

Grannykb has a touch of the Professor Umbridge, I think. Smiling but a bit scary.

IDoughnutKnow · 08/08/2023 16:40

Your skin looks like mine, and I'm 50 so am going to say 50.

(Deliberately haven't RTFT so will now see whether I'm right or not).

IClaudine · 08/08/2023 16:40

Most of the women I know around that age (say 67 or under) have longish hair, except for my cousin who has a fade! The shorter haired women tend to be 70+.

harridan50 · 08/08/2023 16:41

35

That was meant in reply to LaMarschallin

IDoughnutKnow · 08/08/2023 16:42

Ok, I'm wrong.

(Now seen all the OP's posts).

But, OP: I guess cos random ppl often guess my age as younger I wonder if they just being polite

Why would "random ppl (sic)" be going around guessing your age? I don't have this problem with random people.

IClaudine · 08/08/2023 16:42

God, why do people keep on giving silly answers. She doesn't look anything approaching 50.

Blackberriesbob · 08/08/2023 16:44

My guess to the op would have been late 30s early 40s. The lines around her mouth make her look older - they look like smoker's lines.

smizing · 08/08/2023 16:47

OP, if random people are guessing your age to be much young than 39 then you must look a lot different in person. To me you look mid to late 40s.

PurpleButterflyWings · 08/08/2023 16:47

Everyone looks their age within 5 years in either direction, when you look properly... incl the OP and the other poster who put their photo. They both look 5 years away from their actual age. I would have put the OP at 40-41, and @Grannyknowsbest at 67-68. So as they are 39 and 65, that pretty much backs up what I am saying.... (IMO obvs.)

I have noticed when people put their photo asking 'how old do I look' they ALWAYS claim people think they look much younger. Some people look 'younger' at first glance, but when you look properly, everyone looks their age. Why WOULDN'T they? Confused

And what on earth is WRONG with 'looking your age?' Confused Seriously, why are people so desperate to be thought of as looking much much younger than they are? People need to stop this desperation to be thought of as looking 'young.' It's actually depressing. Confused

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH LOOKING YOUR AGE.

Stop making 'looking your age' a bad thing!

PictureConsequences · 08/08/2023 16:48

Granny, I know nothing about filters so can't tell if you have used one. You do look about 65, which is fine. You do have good skin, but your hairstyle and glasses are very ageing. I really would think about a restyle.

PurpleButterflyWings · 08/08/2023 16:48

Yeah this @Grannyknowsbest DOES look mid 60s. And as she IS mid 60s, why would she not look it? 😆

DrSbaitso · 08/08/2023 16:52

I truly don't understand why anyone does these "how old do I look" threads. It doesn't matter what you look like, you could post a 21 year old Angelina Jolie and there'll still be legions of people falling over themselves to pick you apart and insult you. It can be really devastating to be told how horrible you look.

If it helps anyone, there was a Botox thread a while ago where someone posted a photo of herself and invited people to guess what procedures she'd had. People said it was so obvious she'd had Botox and lip fillers and said horrible things about her face. Turned out the only work she'd had done was some cheek filler following illness, but she'd been bullied for her (lovely) face all her life by people who thought they detected Botox and lip filler...

PutinSmellsPassItOn · 08/08/2023 16:53

30s, with the withered look of someone who's been parenting too long. 🤣🤣🤣

okiedokie1 · 08/08/2023 16:56

@addicteetopawpatrol I first thought 42. When you smiled I thought maybe 38/39

@Grannyknowsbest I thought you looked mid to late 60s. Maybe 68 so I think you look around your age. Your daughter looks anywhere from 32-38 so yes she looks young if she is over 38.

adriftabroad · 08/08/2023 16:56

My sister is like this. She thinks she is SO youthful.

In reality she looks like an attractive 50 year old who looks after herself.
Because she is exactly that.
Whenever I go and see her though, she asks semi random people "who is the oldest?" (I am a year older) They usually say she is! I am positive it is because I do not cover myself in makeup. After 45 I think it is so aging.

Yes everyone thinks they are an expert. There was a thread about lip filler once, how obvious it always is....and the first and only time I posted a pic of my lips and everyone said how obvious it was I'd had filler, I have never touched my lips! Just got big lips!

The problem with a photo is that it doesn't show our mannerisms and they can make people look younger or older than their photo I think. People who are super fit move in a younger way. They are stronger and more flexible and have better mobility. And photos that are not crystal clear will not show the skin texture well. In real life older skin is evident by lack of elasticity. Soft floppy jokes, crepe-iness and lack of radiance. Even slightly uncrisp photos veil all of this!

CuteCillian · 08/08/2023 17:01

I thought anything from 35 to 55. Someone in a close up, unadulterated photo is very hard to age.

Couldn't agree more. Genuinely people say I look younger than my age. Not all the time but a lot of the time. Same goes for my mum/sisters. I genuinely think we have good genes as I can assure you I definitely don't drink gallons of water or follow Joan Collins beauty regime. A friend of mine is absolutely convinced I have botox when I honestly don't, this is quite a good friend who got a bit pissed during lockdown and came out with it.. I still think she thinks I am lying.

However, I would never get anyone to "guess" my age. I should imagine I would be horrified at the answers, I am sure some would age me older, some younger, some just picking apart what I look like.

I can remember working with a lady, she had the most gorgeous figure, stunning thick long black hair, had lots of money so wore really gorgeous quality stylish clothes. She was incredibly stylish. However, she was a sun worshipper and unfortunately had very lined thin skin. She once asked a colleague to guess how old she was. Colleague said mid 60's and she was late 40's. It was a very awkward moment but really she shouldn't have asked.

I was suspicious too. Only woman I know with that hairstyle 88 🤔

I vaguely know someone like this and have had to mute her Instagram. At least once a month she’ll post a selfie alongside text saying “I really am 35, I know I still look like a teenager!” and it’s so far from the truth. She’s beautiful and she also looks her age. I think someone must have said it to her once and she was so flattered she is hoping someone else will say it again soon.
