Hi all,

looking for some help! I’ve been invited to a fancy wedding and have no idea where to look for an outfit.

Im early 30s, about a size 12 with a mum tum. I have a bit of a hour glass figure, with a wobbly tum. I like fitted waists and being more flowy around hips. I can have a healthy budget for the right dress.

would be really grateful for any help, wedding is in a couple of weeks…. Arghhhhhh!

Hello I have a similar sounding wedding and I have a similar shape dilemma. I have been recommended scarlett and Jo dresses and have ordered a couple to try they look gorgeous

Your budget will influence the answers.

OP said healthy so I'm guessing around £200?

Jemimapuddleduk · 06/08/2023 13:21

I have a similar shape to you and I bought this me and em one for a wedding in September. I’m wearing it with a cropped black jacket and silver/black heels. They also do it in blush but that one is full price.

@Pocketfullofmoonshine Look at Liberty. FarmRio is very in at the moment. Or Rixo. Or Ganni.

Self Portrait definitely. The sales are on! Just make sure you have the right bag, shoes and hat/headband and you will look great. SP is more formal but the other brands are more playful. I would avoid tulle and a nightclub look.

TizerorFizz · 06/08/2023 13:37

Maria de la Orden, Kori, and Sleeper are great options at Liberty and won’t be copied!!

TizerorFizz · 06/08/2023 13:38

Stine Goya too. Have fun looking.

I'm going to give the same advice as I did on the other similar thread:

Look at a rental site. Your 'healthy budget' will then get you something very high end and the dress will get much more wear than you spending all your budget on something you can't wear often.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 06/08/2023 14:45

I've posted this on a other thread too... it's a Facebook page where people buy and sell the dresses they've worn to weddings. There are some amazing dresses. If you post your size, budget and the type of thing you're looking for, you'll get all kinds of recommendations. People are selling very expensive dresses for half the price. It's a really great site and the women on it are really helpful and friendly.

If budget is really healthy I would suggest Erdem

Erdem sale

Erdem Day Dresses

Agree with Liberty, Stine Goya. Would add Max Mara too.

The last thing I would suggest is anything tagged as "wedding guest dress".

@NatashaDancing I totally agree. Mum
of the Bride outfits are often so dated. Definitely don’t buy in your 30s. Liberty have a great collection of dresses you definitely could wear again, and again! Far better for a smart wedding where you don’t want to try too hard!
