Autumn wishlist.....

Ventureintheslipstream · 05/08/2023 17:35

I know some will think it's too early....but I live for autumn so this unseasonal weather brings me great joy.

I've just ordered some oxblood chelsea boots from vinted (new in box) for a steal.

Got my eye on lots in Arket and Toast already but not sure if I dare as am due a baby in October and no idea how much this pregnancy will impact my dress size... but equally desperate to have some non- maternity clothes to look forward to!

Anyone got any good wishlist ideas already?

@WildSideWalk Love those Jigsaw vests. I used to have several and im
buying some new ones.

I find Toast dresses useful with decent boots. Never done DMs. I prefer a decent long boot with a lowish heel.

My go to is well cut trousers and a cashmere top so easy to please. I also like an interesting shirt. Warmer fabrics in winter. I’m big into coats but I truly don’t need another one! I guess I’ll buy one because I can’t resist but not sure what just yet!

Does anyone know if mini skirts will be back in fashion? I am so tired of midi, maxi and also all the layers and frills.

TizerorFizz · 13/08/2023 12:49

@GrethaGoat From Vogue’s predictions- no. Maybe shorts. Knee length skirts with a split at the front are pretty much everywhere. Maybe suits more age ranges? Other trends are: Layers of lighter fabrics, topped with a generous coat, or white shirt and a fitted black coat. A huge scarf is a must.

GrethaGoat · 13/08/2023 14:30

@TizerorFizz , knew length is good too. Does anyone have any links to autumn fashion?

TizerorFizz · 13/08/2023 14:50

Just google Vogue for starters. Glamour magazine has similar. Both good for general ideas.

FWIW, I think a short-ish skirt with a jumper, boots and tights is a pretty classic autumn look that can be made to look 'current' in loads of ways. There are several short skirts in the Whistles 'new in' section in various materials.

I look more Tom Baker than Tom Ford in a huge scarf <sulk>.

TizerorFizz · 13/08/2023 15:53

Wide one. Like a shawl. Not long and straggly.

Never to early for AW - it's my favourite season for outfits.

With that being said I do a capsule wardrobe these days so won't be buying much, all of last years stuff is in good condition and pretty neutral/classic so am looking forward to getting it back out. I usually get to mid/end September then pull it out, sell what no longer fits or appeals and will replace if it was a type of thing I would ordinarily get a lot of wear out of - eg a coat or jumper in a specific colour.

I think I'll get a new wool coat this year, something oversized and belted and usually pick up a couple of new jumpers - I really want a brown one to replace one that's had its day, and might need a new pair of Boots, as I've been using my usual pair all summer for dog walking thanks to the weather, but that's about it.

RedRosie · 13/08/2023 16:18

I really want some quality, short, not-wool, heavy, cotton jumpers to wear with high-waisted bottoms. Boxy is fine, or more fitted. Please let me know if you see any!

Love autumn season so following with interest.

I've just bought burgundy Chelsea boots to go with my navy trousers.

I've got new rust coloured trousers that are perfect for autumn.

I am really interested in nice chunky jumpers and cardigans this year.

Oh and I bought this jumper last week from Vinted, orginially from Shein but it is a Kiel James Patrick dupe 😄

What about footwear for autumn? I am getting bored of ankle boots.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/08/2023 19:00

I;ve ordered a pale pink gilet , I bought a black one last year and it is surprisingly useful (not one of those long ones , just bum covering) . Zipped pockets and washable .

TizerorFizz · 13/08/2023 21:20

@BangingOn Heeled black courts. Wedge shoes. Mary Janes with block mid heels. Pointed flat pumps. Lace up chunky flat books or knee high stilettos. Brogues and loafers. Nearly everything in black but shades of red are key colours.

GettingStuffed · 13/08/2023 21:27

I need new trainers, probably a new pair of trousers or a skirt, I'm fine for tops, and a thermal jacket. I bought a fair bit last year so don't need much.

BangingOn · 13/08/2023 21:45

@TizerorFizz I really like the sound of block heeled Mary Janes, thanks for sharing your list.

TizerorFizz · 13/08/2023 22:02

@BangingOn These were the suggestions. Obviously different price points. Take your pick.

I like the double strap of the first pair a lot. I’ve missed wearing heels, although my back does thank me for it.

Rina66 · 13/08/2023 23:02

I noticed M & S have a few styles of boots in 'Damson', I would like to see what this colour is like in store. Also love some Khaki boots in Russell & Bromley, plus a taupe flatform trainer....

Clothes- I got a navy shirt & a grey shacket from Zara

Satin kimono from H & M

I’d like a pair of Uggs, the ultra low ones. I’d also like a gilet in Navy.

I would like a couple of jumpers, one to be a fine knit to tuck into high waisted trousers that I have but I am also going to try that look with a cardigan.

Then a trip to Primark to pick up their thermal range for work. Socks and base layers.

I don’t need any of the above. I just would like!

TizerorFizz · 14/08/2023 13:24

M&S were doing a great range of merino wool jumpers that are lightweight. No doubt other brands available but their prices are good. Not sure if they have fully stocked on jumpers but I find theirs good. Cos are another shop for basic layers.

I don’t really need anything but I am trying so hard not to buy this from Brora;

It is a lot of money for me and I don’t know anything about Brora jewellery but, god, I love it.

I've always loved the A/W fashion in the film 'Love Story'. My capsule wardrobe would be along these lines:

And this is what we need a “like” button for! My absolute dream aesthetic.
