Autumn wishlist.....

Ventureintheslipstream · 05/08/2023 17:35

I know some will think it's too early....but I live for autumn so this unseasonal weather brings me great joy.

I've just ordered some oxblood chelsea boots from vinted (new in box) for a steal.

Got my eye on lots in Arket and Toast already but not sure if I dare as am due a baby in October and no idea how much this pregnancy will impact my dress size... but equally desperate to have some non- maternity clothes to look forward to!

Anyone got any good wishlist ideas already?

Ohhhh - I love A/W fashion
I think I'm ok though
Last year I bought a Superdry long coat in navy then after years of searching I got my Perfect Parka ( green, heavy cotton not shiney , no fur, non blingey hardware and the fishtale hem)

I have boots (including 2 pairs I haven't worn yet !)

I need some winter socks
I love paisley so maybe a blouse ? Purple ot dark green
And maybe some of the M&S faux leather leggings of they aren't shiney .

I'm going on a cruise in October and I have all my clothes sorted . <excited>

On my A/W wishlist is the hope that tiered skirts/dresses do one .
Everytime I think Oh that's nice I look closer .....tiers.

cigarettesNalcohol · 06/08/2023 03:21

I have my eyes on a second hand vintage faux shearing coat 😍

Ventureintheslipstream · 06/08/2023 07:09

Gorgeous @Pinkitydrinkity !

So much inspiration, can't wait for bright, sunny, cold days.

@70isaLimitNotaTarget totally agree, can't stand the tiers!

The Uniqlo bag in burnt orange corduroy.

Passmeaplacard · 06/08/2023 08:32

@Ventureintheslipstream oh that’s good to hear I have been eyeing them up online might take the plunge and order

I've been wanting a forest green tulle or pleated skirt for a few years but have never found one. Perhaps this will be my year...

I was looking for an olive green pleated skirt and there are loads on Vinted in every shade of green

How refreshing...along with Ventureintheslipstream and you, thats THREE of us who don't want the TIERS :(

I've lost count of seeing a skirt or dress and thinking, lovely!

Then, I see the tiers round the bottom...I honestly have never seen anyone wear such a monster that doesn't look like a toilet roll cover. Horrible flounce and frill...old curtains. When, oh when, will this horrible style die?

LadyAstor · 12/08/2023 13:45

I agree about the tiers trend. Awful. Sadly, its here to stay for the near future at least.

I also hate the puff sleeves and shoulders as i already have broad shoulders of my own.

This one 😍 either in oat or black, the size is so perfect for an every day bag. It would be gorgeous in their green or an oxblood for winter.

Ooh I'm torn between that or the navy one. I have a big birthday this year and I'm hoping for some money from DH to treat myself although he's paying for a trip away so it may need to wait for my Christmas bonus.

Hopefully by the time it comes round, I'll have decided which colour I'd like 😁

As for clothes, not a clue this year. I'm desperate for new A/W clothes but trying to reign in the spending (ironically).

Autumn is looking like:

  • a wool wrap coat, maybe the Whistles Lorna one
  • replacing my grubby canvas trainers with some leather ones
  • a gold rope chain necklace- I’ve discovered the joy of vintage jewellery and I’m stalking stuff on ebay
  • A black leather belt

I’ve done the seasonal wardrobe sort and I’m fairly happy with the basics; it’s definitely reduced a lot of thinking time about clothes and I feel more pulled together these days. Just need to keep the moths off my jumpers!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/08/2023 17:05

Love an autumn thread! I’m excited to unpack all my lovely knitwear, although it feels like we missed summer here in NE Scotland. So far I have purchased the following:

Arket alpaca wool jumper in pale pink - I own this in multiple colours and it is the absolute best

Black Lucy and Yak Alexa trousers

Navy Adidas trainers with mustard stripes - the style is something Spezial

New Balance 327 in a muted colourway, wine, navy, green

I’m going to get that Uniqlo bag in cord once it appears too, maybe the rusty colour.

Ventureintheslipstream · 12/08/2023 17:13

@Judystilldreamsofhorses how do you wash your arket alpaca jumpers? I really like them but worry about shrinkage. Hate it when a jumper is only perfection on its first wear.

Pigtailsandall · 12/08/2023 17:29

@FormerlySpeckledyHen I want one in burnt orange too!

I'm keeping an eye out for a brown v-neck wool jumper; I almost bought one in the Toast sale and didn't and really regret it.

I also want either black or nude leather loafers

I have wanted a Max Mara coat for yonks but as we are spending Dec and Jan in warmer climate this year it doesn't seem like the right year for such an investment

MaryLennoxsScowl · 12/08/2023 17:29

I’d like an A-line miniskirt to wear with tights and a slightly cropped jumper. Maybe tweed or wool or cord. Not sure what footwear though.

fiorentina · 12/08/2023 17:32

I also love Autumn fashion.
Managed to get a Rains puffer in the Selfridges sale, perfect for watching sport.
Need some new knitwear, agree re Arket alpaca jumpers, they wash well and I love them.
Probably need some new workwear but still find it very uninspiring.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/08/2023 17:39

@Ventureintheslipstream i hand wash in the kitchen sink with a liquid which I can’t remember the name of (for delicates, maybe Stergene or something like that) then put them through the spin cycle. I dry on a clothes horse or over a radiator, never pegged out in case they stretch. I have this sweater in grey, black, camel, red, and a glorious apple green as well as the new pink one - they do it every year and I tend to buy one or two in autumn - and haven’t lost one yet!

Ventureintheslipstream · 12/08/2023 17:54

@Judystilldreamsofhorses thanks! Though. As suspected, that sounds like a lot of work for my resident laundry bloke 😀

The main thing I am coveting this autumn is https://www.sezane.com/en/product/scott-trench-coat/khaki#size-4 this Sezane trench coat - 'Tis a thing of beauty.

EllaPaella · 12/08/2023 18:25

Would love to see the NB trainers @Judystilldreamsofhorses

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/08/2023 19:23

@EllaPaella i’m wearing them in my Insta post from last weekend with the denim boiler suit!

Faceplantagain · 12/08/2023 19:52

I'm looking for a nice gilet - one which can be worn as an outer layer for most of the year - for walking/gardening etc. I'm just back from a walking holiday in Scotland where the one I've got was very useful, but it has a large hole in it currently taped up. They seem to split into very technical (north face etc) or very trendy (uniqlo) and I'm looking for something in between. I also want to find some straight leg jeans in black or very dark blue. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to wearing everything I bought in the Toast sale ...

@EllaPaella i got them BNIB for £35 on Depop 😊😊😊

I love Autumn/Winter clothes although I hate feeling bundled up so might invest in some base layers this year - I bought a couple of Jigsaw lace trim camis last year like I used to wear in the 90s and they look great under a chunky jumper with jeans or leather leggings.

Also tempted by fur-lined DMs and considering some winter dresses if I can find a style that suits me as well as the summer ones I’ve had from Next which have a stretchy top (perfect for big boobs), a flattering length/shape skirt and pockets! I like them so much I’ve bought 3 but I don’t think they’ll translate to a/w as the fabrics aren’t right.

Cant decide which style to go for - quite liked the sort of smart athleisure thing last year with a long gilet which I found really practical. But I love a more librarian chic look with cosy tights and Mary Janes and a really nice tailored coat. It doesn’t really suit my lifestyle but having hit 50 this year I’m not sure how much I care 🤔
