This isn't doing much for me, is it?

This dress:

www.axparis.com/products/duck-egg-short-sleeve-belted-wrap-midi-dress

On me...

What's the problem? Is it too big/too small? Am I too short? Is it the sleeves? Is the neckline too high?

Loved the colour and had such high hopes!

I am sick to death of trying to dress this body. I'm a size 8/10 and just under 5ft 2.

Where am I going wrong?

This isn't doing much for me, is it?

Have you tried Sosander? They do some me stunning dresses and also available through Next online.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 06/08/2023 19:24

Have you tried Whistles saie or maybe FCUK etc via ASOS?

CornedBeef451 · 06/08/2023 19:31

At your height you might need petite sizes only.

DD is around your size and just discovered Apricot, only place we've found that fits her proportions.

I am short but wide so have a whole different set of problems!

TriedTurningItOff · 06/08/2023 19:31

OP that dress would not flatter anyone. It doesn't even look good on the model. AND it's too big for you.

Agree with those saying get a closer-fitting cut and style.

I sadly think some of these might swamp you… maybe with heels? The only 3 formal mini ones I can see are in beech and Forest green! 😱

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 06/08/2023 19:36

Sorry black not beech!

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 06/08/2023 19:38

Are Coast and Karen Millen or Ted Baker options?

Lapflop · 06/08/2023 19:39

Neither of the dresses you have posted photos in flatter your figure at all! I think the halter ones you have ordered will though.

DanceWithTheBigBoysAgain · 06/08/2023 19:56

I think that new ASOS dress is fine OP. I personally don't love the colours but it's a great fit, it's presumably affordable and it's completely wedding-appropriate.

I agree with whoever said that a brighter pair of shoes would make it a stronger look, if you can find a pair that you like and can afford, but honestly the shoes you've got are fine.

Get your hair done, pick a suitable nail colour, and have a lovely time.

headwear · 06/08/2023 20:06

Honestly, this is where I'm at!

I have already looked at all the websites mentioned, but I do appreciate the suggestions.

If the consensus is that the ASOS dress will do, I'll keep that as back up for if the the Oh Hello dresses fail, which I think they probably will. I live in hope!

I've quite literally got a dozen dresses kicking about back and forward between me and the websites. I don't have the time, patience, or money to bother much more!

My hair appointment is booked, so tan, nails, jewellery, and possibly shoes, are all I can work with now.

It's too big and the proportions are wrong I think it would suit me I'm tall and curvy.

Well done and I’d be exhausted too! Have you found the pink shoes?

What bag do you plan on taking?

I’m relieved that nowadays my wedding guest days are far less than they used to be!

AnxiousFairyQueen · 06/08/2023 20:48

You’re the same size as me. I’d have a look at the kibbe types on YouTube. I can’t wear anything frilly - I have to wear very fitted, simple clothes or I look ridiculous. I know that dress isn’t particularly frilly but it would still be far too frilly for me. If you want a flared dress, you might find that a 50s style dress with a very fitted top works, preferably with straps do that you can shorten. If you’re shorter, dresses with shoulders are always going to be too big.

Do you mean the first dress or the ASOS petite I posted today?
