This isn't doing much for me, is it?

This dress:

www.axparis.com/products/duck-egg-short-sleeve-belted-wrap-midi-dress

On me...

What's the problem? Is it too big/too small? Am I too short? Is it the sleeves? Is the neckline too high?

Loved the colour and had such high hopes!

I am sick to death of trying to dress this body. I'm a size 8/10 and just under 5ft 2.

Where am I going wrong?

This isn't doing much for me, is it?

Size 8/10? No, it’s doing you no favours, sorry. It makes you look much bigger.

Could you try something not waisted?

catsnhats11 · 01/08/2023 19:39

You've got a great figure, it's just not a great dress sorry. Creases easily and colour is a bit meh. Not keen on the belt maybe swap it for another one?

Paperbagsaremine · 01/08/2023 19:41

To be fair I'm not sure it does much for the model either, though at least her dress hasn't got creased...yet.

marshamarshmallow · 01/08/2023 19:41

I don't think it's too bad, but the dress is an inch or too long in the body - if it was taken up at the shoulders, it would sit better on you. Additionally, the dress needs to be properly pressed and the shoes aren't right.

Hollyhead · 01/08/2023 19:41

I am a similar size/shape. The top needs to be more defined to show off your slim torso. And tbh I think knee length things are better when you’re short.

CrapBucket · 01/08/2023 19:42

I’m no expert but I would guess it’s got 50 billion bulldog clips you can’t see, for their website photos. It swamps you and has twice as much fabric as it needs!

Paq · 01/08/2023 19:42

There's nothing wrong with you at all but the dress is a meh shape and colour.

HundredMilesAnHour · 01/08/2023 19:42

I think it swamps you. But to be honest (I thought this when you posted last time), it's cheap flimsy fabric and isn't going to be cut well for that price. Sorry OP. It's not you, it's the dress.

peachgreen · 01/08/2023 19:43

Too big and also it’s just not very nice.

Notbeinfunnehbut · 01/08/2023 19:43

I think it looks alright but a bit creasy

isthismylifenow · 01/08/2023 19:44

I think it's too big for you and the length isn't right. And I think the colour is a bit draining.

Sorry OP. I am sure there are much nicer dresses out there for you.

Zampa · 01/08/2023 19:44

It's far, far too big for you.

You'd probably look better in something more fitted. You've got a great figure somewhere underneath all that fabric.

MavisChunch29 · 01/08/2023 19:44

Nothing wrong with it per se, looks like it needs a press and the colour makes you look a bit washed out. It's a colour that suits tanned olive and darker skin.

Saschka · 01/08/2023 19:45

Too big. I am a similar height, and a 10-12. That dress swamps you.

TheChosenTwo · 01/08/2023 19:45

It’s very baggy around the bust (I’m not saying you’ve got small boobs!), I think it’s just badly made.
And I don’t think much of the finishing or the fabric. It doesn’t suit you but underneath all that material I bet you have a lovely figure!!

ReluctantFishLady · 01/08/2023 19:47

I think it does look a bit big. I'd try a size smaller and swap the belt for something thicker. Maybe a wide silver belt to match your shoes.

LadyKenya · 01/08/2023 19:48

I think that a gold belt would uplift it, and the dress being ironed as well.

bryceQ · 01/08/2023 19:49

I don't think it's amazing. The colour isn't for me and I think you would look much nicer in something else you've got a lovely figure

I'm 5'1" and size 8-10 for us is not what it is for models who are almost 6ft

I have a v similar figure to the OP. Maybe the colour isn't helping, but the belt is too blocky too so it emphasis any stomach area

I find jumpsuits more flattering than dresses

thenightsky · 01/08/2023 19:53

I suspect the model's dress is made of entirely different, much higher quality, fabric. Look how it hangs nicely and how the folds round the boobs hold their shape.

Hollyhead · 01/08/2023 19:55

@YukoandHiro hard agree, I’m 5ft 3 and I generally find I look a size bigger than i am - I need to be an 8 to look like a 10 etc. My friend is shorter than me and she says it’s more like 2 sizes - at a 12 she looked like a 16.

itsmyp4rty · 01/08/2023 19:56

It looks like a completely different dress from the one in the picture. I find dresses way too hard to get to fit nicely so I always stick to separates. I would say better to go shopping and be able to try stuff on in a shop then trying to get something online.

lemondust000 · 01/08/2023 19:56

I actually think it looks really nice

Sussurations · 01/08/2023 19:56

It’s much too big
It’s not your colour
The belt makes your middle look big - agree with pp that a contrasting belt would be better
Neither the fabric nor the asymmetric hem suit you

in short, it’s not you, it’s the dress!

coxesorangepippin · 01/08/2023 19:57

The colour is awful let's face it. No one looks good in washed out grey

The fabric is too wafty too
