Replacement for Clinique City Block?

ChristmasCwtch · 13/07/2023 08:21

I’ve used the last dregs of the old tinted Clinque City Block ☹️

This new sticky orange sun cream is awful!! Why Clinque, why??!

Does anyone have a good suggestion for a replacement for the tinted version? It was perfect for 20+ years.

Thank you 🙏

I'm waiting with bated breath too - almost at the end of my last tube and trying to make it last!

Me too! Gutted. Is there nowhere that sells it anymore?

LilacSorbet · 14/07/2023 06:19

Joining the gutted brigade - I too have just cut my last tube open to scrape the dregs out. I've been using it since I was a teen in the late 90s 😫

I've got an Olay Total Effects 7 in 1 (fair), which is OK, but it doesn't sit on the skin in quite the same way. And it's only SPF15.

Erborian cc crème in Clair (or doré if you have a tan or aren't as pale as me!).

It isn't the same thing as city block (which I also have used) as it goes on white and adapts to your skin colour, but for light coverage with SPF I really like it.

Thanks all. I’m going to see how Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser works out!! I’ll report back

It's not the same as it's coverage is thicker. That said I use it instead of foundation as it is brilliant. So Clinique I used if I wanted a no make up day with sun protection whilst Laura Mercier I put on for in the office days for example.

I use Ultra Violette for sun block when at home /holiday and when I go to work have started using Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser and am pretty pleased (although still angry at Chanel for discontinuing Kex Beiges tinted moisturiser which was my holy grail)

I don't know how similar it is but I like Elizabeth Arden Prevage City Smart - it's a light textured and tinted sunscreen. It seems to play well with makeup too.

If anyone is interested just managed to order cityblock25 on the Clinique website

ChristmasCwtch · 27/08/2023 11:22

Thanks for all of the suggestions.

I’ve just bought Trinny London BFF cream which I really like. I’m using this with a concealer from the same brand (Clinique also discontinued the concealer I’ve been using for 20 years 🤦🏼‍♀️).

The Trinny items are a lot more expensive than Clinique, but my thinking is that I wear my face 24/7 so it’s worth it for something the works 😂

It is a lovely product to use but I stopped using it a few years ago after this thread.

This is fantastic and now stocked in Superdrug: www.superdrug.com/skin/biore/b/401036

This is also very good: www.boots.com/ambre-solaire-super-uv-anti-10291969

Sunbathingflump · 27/08/2023 12:21

I struggled with a replacement too

If its so popular why have they discontinued it? Will they be sending everyone a letter in 5 years saying they effed up? Like Boden did?
