i Think the ones I have crossed have came in the Xmas calendar from 2022 or the beauty box. And a few more are similar to what we’ve received like the votary or rem. to me it feels leftovers from other boxes and a mirror and some clips which to be honest does not feel like a luxurious calendar

Anyone want to speculate on the mystery Liberty product in the Advent Calendar? I presume a product that has not yet been launched. Since they developed the candles in the last couple of years my guess is possibly a room spray.

@listsandbudgets have you looked on vinted?

I have now and I've just ordered 2 more tubes. My skin just seems to love the stuff

@NNat i subscribed around beginning of December last year and I got the October box. Wasn’t expecting to get a box until the January one.

@notanicepersonapparently I think a candle.

@listsandbudgets fantastic.

listsandbudgets · 02/08/2023 22:46

I subscribed in March and got the January box as well as the April one. it was a pleasant surprise as I'd not expected it.

Pigtailsandall · 03/08/2023 08:35

I think the box cut-off seems pretty random. I subscribed from very end of November and didn't get the October box, but some people who subscribed later did get it.

I can't justify the cost of the calendar, so hoping to build up my credit a bit and use it for a piece of jewellery in the sales instead

Nanasueathome · 03/08/2023 09:03

I prefer the Fortnum and Mason advent calendar so wasn’t going to bother with the Liberty one
my daughter is in Lanzarote at the moment and has just messaged me to say she’s bought the Liberty one for us to share

Reinventinganna · 03/08/2023 09:22

@Nanasueathome your daughter sounds lovely.

Harvey Nichols have a reeaally good GWP for rewards members but you have to spend over £215 on Beauty to get it 😳

Is there another thread for general skincare/beauty/make up?! I don’t want to keep derailing this one 😂

Maybe this might be a better thread to use:

Or start a new GWP specific one.

Gone away for a couple of weeks and left washbag etc. at home!! Obviously this means I need to buy more stuff [grin] so looking for a good GWP .. Prob...

@listsandbudgets your son sounds like a sweetie. My adult DD was like that once, and hope she goes back to it before too long Grin

I agree: I think they see us as an easy win in terms of calendar sales. However, I think in reality it's actually the opposite. Having had three boxes already this year I feel I've had a tiny bit of the fix a calendar provides and can see there is a lot of overlap between the boxes and the calendar so am less interested than I would otherwise have been.

I might buy the Latest In Beauty on again this year because it was for the most part full sizes and you only had to like four or five to cover the cost and then some.

That’s exactly how I feel too. Having scanned the calendar contents I can see a few perennial AC brands (hello Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream - nice enough but grossly inflated price tag) and a few things I’d love but might be better off just purchasing separately.

I bought the Cult Beauty AC last year which was excellent but so face serum-heavy I’m nowhere near close to finishing my skincare stash.

For those who have been saving up for the Liberty AC but now don’t want it - don’t despair! The Black Friday and post-Xmas sales were really good. I don’t think anyone will struggle to spend their Beauty Drop credit.

Bimblesalong · 03/08/2023 17:42

I'm bucking the trend and have ordered, as I think I'll use everything.

Now ... can you lovely calendaristas recall what GWPs have been available in September offerings (e.g handbags .... !).

AprilLady · 03/08/2023 17:50

Sadly, I think the really great GWPs are a thing of the past.

Compare the current Harvey Nicks GWP:https://beautyadventcalendar.net/harvey-nichols-gift-with-purchase-august-2023/ with the one from 2019: https://blushsuede.com/2019/10/02/harvey-nichols-gift-with-purchase-autumn-2019-worth-800/. Same spend: this time 12 products worth £265; in 2019 it was apparently 40 products and some vouchers in total worth £800.

That said, the September Liberty GWP is usually quite decent.

Frazzgirl · 03/08/2023 18:30

Don't know if everyone on here follows Diaryofa40something on FB she has all the Advent Calenders listed in one place. I was impressed with the H and B one I had last year for £35

Frazzgirl · 03/08/2023 18:45

The Augustus Bader if you see it in any kits or any GWP its worth getting. I bought one of the liberty kits with credit one in a pink bag? It had loads of items in. Anyway had some pigmentation on the top of my chest with Sun overexposure and using the AB cream it's gone x

redredwineub40 · 03/08/2023 19:18

Oh yes, I saw that HN GWP and got excited - until I checked the contents. I’m wondering if the heavy discounting around mid-end Nov is changing the market.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/08/2023 20:48

The Harvey Nics one has only a few full size products. Lots of very small sizes. It's a no from Spongey.

redredwineub40 · 03/08/2023 20:51

Oooh - for F&M fans, they’ve updated their support page with contents!

MotherofTerriers · 03/08/2023 22:23

Looks better than the Liberty one

Ducksinthebath · 04/08/2023 08:00

I think that looks deadly dull. Two keep products!
