My box finally came! I’m sat at my desk wearing the perfume and hand cream.

I love cleansers although usually stick to Emma hardie although have been using the seated queen and holding off buying more. I’m eager to try the REN but think it’s likely that I’ll go back to Emma hardie when I’ve used them.

The shampoo and conditioner will go in my gym bag and I’m planning on trying the AA and votary tonight. I am a fan of the masks so looking forward to that too but might pop it in my overnight bag for when I’m working away next.

I now have an old beauty drop account other credit and a new one with credit! They are unable to merge them but I they say I can use both for the advent calendar. I hope so as I enjoyed my first one I had last year.
I wonder if I will get a July box if I signed up on 19 July?

Isabelle70 · 21/07/2023 21:50

@Reinventinganna I found the same with the Peony I could smell the first couple of bottles and then nothing. I wanted a full size bottle but decided against it as I wondered if the scent would be there the same ?

MidnightMeltdown · 21/07/2023 22:16

I've been away and just randomly found my box in the front garden when I got home today! I was pleasantly surprised by this one, as I've found the last few pretty disappointing and was planning to cancel.

The Ren cleanser is a useful size for holidays, I like the AA oil, and I haven't tried the votary serum, which is a decent size.

Love Vilhelm perfumes (my fav is Dear Polly which I have in full size). Darling Nikki isn't my favourite (bit too sweet) but it's not bad, and nice to sample.

Don't like verden much, but it's a decent travel size

I like the Malin and Goetz brand so happy to try these, although 20ml would have been a better sample size for long thick hair.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 22/07/2023 16:32

@Reinventinganna I've heard the cynical types say that the testers are always stronger than the EDT. Generally, not about Liberty. Is it possible the tester is EDP and the actual product is EDT?

PomRuns · 22/07/2023 17:45

Not Liberty but Fortnums AC looks good.
am tempted to commit early

  • Fortnums never reduce
  • I suspect there won’t be such an ample supply this year.

@PomRuns do you have a link for that please? I've looked online and can't find it.

ExPreschoolTrustee · 22/07/2023 18:23

Bugger - I quite like the perfume sample, but it doesn't like me! Sprayed it on yesterday and now have an itchy rash where I put it

I don't normally react to perfume but I'm guessing there is something in this one that isn't usually in them?

Reinventinganna · 22/07/2023 18:24

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants why didn’t I think of that?! I’ll have a look. I’ll be quite cross with myself if so because I used all of my credit 😂

PomRuns · 22/07/2023 18:35

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants

I can't seem to copy but its on beauty advent calenders .net website

redredwineub40 · 22/07/2023 18:42

Yeah I missed f&m last year, had it the the year before, was great

Someaddedsugar · 22/07/2023 18:48

The F&M calendar contents look very similar to last year. Having said that it was a very good beauty advent and I think there were only two things that I wouldn't have used and they sold straight away on Vinted. I hadn't realised they came out in August though! That feels very early!

PomRuns · 22/07/2023 18:51

I didn't get F&M last year - I had John Lewis & LiB - which were both good.
I've skipped Liberty for a few years due to repeats so may get Liberty and F&M this year. Cult51 in Fornums will sway me, as long as there are 2 other things I like, it will be tworthwhile for me.

I like Aromatherapy Associates but is does seem to be in every AC...

MavisMcMinty · 22/07/2023 18:53

I put money away most years for the advent calendar season, and always plan for the calendars to be announced/pre-ordered from August onwards, although September is probably the most popular month. Then they arrive WEEKS before December 1st, and sit there all temptingly in the spare room, testing my resolve.

MavisMcMinty · 22/07/2023 18:56

My very first AC was the John Lewis one, probably 6 years ago, cost a massive £175 and was really rather disappointing. The best one I’ve had - and I’ve never gone for any costing over £90 since the John Lewis one - was last year’s Look Fantastic one, which I got after Christmas at a discount.

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 22/07/2023 19:06

I know the liberty advent calendar gives so many repeats but it is just so pretty I always give in. Brings me joy every year.

Did the Space NK one in January last year and it had lovely contents but just a bit meh in design

redredwineub40 · 22/07/2023 19:56

Yeah I believe you’ll see this, certain calendars having certain brands - love cult51 mostly for the smell - I didn’t have much from F&M we didn’t use.

wheresmyshoe · 22/07/2023 20:01

Thank you for the heads up, F&M is the most beautiful advent box I've had and I love Cult51. It will get serious consideration this year.

MidnightMeltdown · 22/07/2023 21:48

Oooh advent calendar time coming around again already!

I've bought the F&M advent for the past 3 years in a row, so have told myself that I can't have it this year. Especially as I've still got most of last years products unopened!

Hopefully it shouldn't be too hard to resist as it's looking quite samey. It's fab for anyone who hasn't had it before though. Definitely the most luxurious AC imo.

MavisMcMinty · 22/07/2023 22:11

I like to get two ACs, one to open daily, and one to rip into all at once on Christmas Day. I save whichever I think is going to be the “best” one for Christmas Day, and never look at the list of contents, or at the pictures too closely to avoid spoilers. (My first one, the John Lewis one, I opened as soon as it arrived then put everything back in the box for December 1st. Maybe that’s why it felt so unimpressive.)

loz12345 · 22/07/2023 22:34

I had the Sephora advent last year it was amazing value but I think it might have been a one off at such a low price compared to its contents as it was their 1st one - no idea what to go for this year although I am going to try me avoid spending hours watching unboxing videos this year

Reinventinganna · 22/07/2023 23:48

Apart from liberty the only other one that I have purchased was an m and s one. Never even had a chocolate one!

Puravida23 · 23/07/2023 00:04

Bit disappointed to be honest . It is good they are mixing it up but quite a few small sizes still and lots I have already tried or own already. Think it will be a no from me too. Love the box though. I guess it depends what you already have and what you are looking for. Can’t believe they are still giving us Augustus Bader though!
