Mulberry Alexa - what colour?

thebellagio · 03/07/2023 22:17

I’ve literally wanted an Alexa bag for about ten years. I’ve been saving all loose change, any cash back funds, any small lotto wins for several years and I’ve pretty much got enough saved to buy one in their sale.

but I can’t decide on a colour

the options are between
Crimson ( https://www.mulberry.com/gb/shop/women/bags/satchels/alexa-crimson-heavy-grain?istCompanyId=3a5764c8-2715-43fc-9450-7ad7cab20c43&istFeedId=0b38272c-6d65-4d30-9a3b-3a2dfb5ce19a&istItemId=ptwpxxwra&istBid=t&gclid=CjwKCAjw44mlBhAQEiwAqP3eVveP9xXOwul88CvF-MXg_NeNtLaC807xU9ftbtu7RRaYCzRPbdHudxoCQbQQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds)

pale grey heavy grain (https://www.mulberry.com/gb/shop/women/bags/shoulder-bags/alexa-pale-grey-heavy-grain)

or the pink heavy grain (https://www.mulberry.com/gb/shop/family/alexa/alexa-mulberry-pink-heavy-grain)

can someone help me decide?

this is something I know I’ll love so I’m happy to put my savings towards it.

I’ve got an old style tan one with gold fittings and love it. But if I was buying again I’d buy the grey with silver hardware. Lovely, hope you enjoy it 🥳

Flygirl94 · 03/07/2023 22:30

I love the crimson colour
mulberry fan for many years, they’ve got way more expensive over time

gaggiagirl · 03/07/2023 22:31

I would go with the crimson as it's the most versatile. It'll go with anything.

Fobabett · 03/07/2023 22:33

Crimson as a sensible choice, I love the pink but wouldn't use it as much. I have a light gold crush Alexa which isn't as versatile as say a crimson but i don't regret it- I love it! Cheesy as it sounds go with your favourite, which one springs to mind first without balancing practicalities.

Kaamos · 03/07/2023 22:33

I like the crimson one

OrchidsBlooming · 03/07/2023 22:42

With what I wear regularly the grey would be the most versatile but I really like the crimson. The pink is my least favourite of the three.
What do you wear regularly? Choose the one that would work best with your favourite outfit and your usual fall back clothing options that way you're more likely to use it.

AlbertaWildRose · 03/07/2023 22:44

Definitely crimson! It's gorgeous.

Shoemadlady · 03/07/2023 22:45

The first one, really classy and won't date

TeaMeBasil · 03/07/2023 22:48

Well before I opened the links I thought I'd likely vote for the grey - but I love the crimson! Absolutely gorgeous!

I have a Bayswater, so well loved that it's a bit too battered to use now but I'd think I'd pick an Alexa next!

Archeron · 03/07/2023 22:56

Crimson is the best colour out of those you listed. But you said you’ve wanted one for over a decade - they were in fashion back then and they aren’t now. Have you considered more modern alternatives? Or had a look at vintage bags - because they’re out of fashion you can pick them up cheap.

Who gets to decide if they're out of fashion?

OP the pink is gorgeous but the crimson is the more useful. Not the grey.

QueenOfHiraeth · 03/07/2023 23:07

I love the Crimson and think you will use it most of those options. I don't like the grey, it looks very pale with the silver hardware

Lampzade · 03/07/2023 23:10

Definitely the crimson. Dh bought one for me recently

Isabelle70 · 03/07/2023 23:16

I would go for the Crimson as it's more versatile. The pale grey you would really have to be careful with colour transfer.

Viviennemary · 03/07/2023 23:16

Not keen on any of those colours. But I like both the dark green one and the leopard print suede.

NotABeliever · 03/07/2023 23:19

Not keen o. Any of your colours. The crimson is OK but more of a winter shade.
I'd go for this colour if you want to use it more in summer

Alwaystheplusone · 03/07/2023 23:33

Crimson

DramaAlpaca · 03/07/2023 23:40

So many lovely colours, it's hard to decide isn't it?

Of the three, the crimson. It'll go with everything. Second choice would be the pale grey.

I have a Lancaster Red one, and I adore it.

SemperIdem · 03/07/2023 23:42

The crimson. It is by far the most wearable colour of the 3 colours posted.

I have an oak one from 2010 and still love it.

smileyplant · 03/07/2023 23:42

Oooo definitely crimson 😊

thebellagio · 04/07/2023 07:22

Thanks.

my favourite is probably the pink but that’s cos it’s my fave colour. But equally I don’t really want to drop a grand on something that could date. I do love the grey and the cream that @NotABeliever recommended but I was worried about colour transfers/getting dirty

i do love the crimson - I was just worried that I only liked it because it was £225 cheaper than the others. I was scared of being led by price.

but with so many of you saying it’s the nicest I think that has swayed me

Fobabett · 04/07/2023 07:37

They do an array of other pink shades, the dusky pink is beautiful and I think pretty versatile (have to be mindful of transfer as its light though).

readingrocks · 04/07/2023 07:39

Personally I prefer the crimson but my main message to you is enjoy it! Ignore the person who said it is out of fashion, I use bags I have had for far, far longer. You have waited a long time so just use it and enjoy it (and maybe insure it?)

thebellagio · 04/07/2023 07:43

I think you’ve all convinced me to go with the crimson. Like you say, it is more neutral and long lasting.
