‘Uniform’ for this weather

Does anyone have any advice for dressing for this weather? I really struggle. Cold weather is fine, hot weather is fine, but I just never know what to wear for this muggy, mid temperature.

It’s not really warm enough for bare legs, and tights would be odd so I just end up in jeans and some sort of t shirt. It’s just so bleh. Midi dresses work ok so maybe I just need loads of those?

For example, I’m going for a walk and pub lunch on Sunday, what type of thing should I be wearing?

Im short and big boobed, size 12so always need a proper bra and don’t like getting my bare legs out really. Also don’t like anything tight. Early 30s

I’m in a rut - roll on autumn!

Then you need a long summer dress, covers you legs and is warmer enough - add a jacket and you’re sorted

I do struggle a bit- layering isn’t really my forte.

I go for a midi dress with a light Brora cashmere poncho (I’ve collected one a year so have a few in different colours). Or a jumpsuit with said poncho ( looks a bit odd). Or rolled up jeans with a linen or cotton 3/4 sleeve blouse.

For work, a long sleeve patterned midi dress with flats, or linen culottes with a blouse and flats.

I wear Saltwaters or white pumps.

Capri tights

I've been wearing various colours of wide legged jeans that I've picked up over the past few years, on Primarni sales racks. Tucked in vest top & then either a checked shirt tied at the waist or loose, floaty kimono type top tied at the waist, or I'm quite liking white blouses with them atm. I've found a few bargain lightweight, vintage, blouses on Vinted and in charity shops.

Capri length jeans, with a flowy sort of T shirt (I like hemp ones) or midi dress

yoshiblue · 30/06/2023 21:19

I would wear a midi dress or T-shirt/top and chinos. Trainers or sandals dependent on weather.

Doggymummar · 30/06/2023 21:48

Well today was freezing so easy peasy jeans oodie and hot water bottle. When it gets warmer maxi dress or linen troos and top.b

I wear light silky bias cut midi skirts and a form fitting sleeveless top a lot. Like a racer back tee type thing.

Puccini1900 · 01/07/2023 06:49

Oo @RoseAndRose have you a link to a nice hemp t-shirt please?

SiobahnRoy · 01/07/2023 07:02

I’ve been living in Hush cargo trousers and fisherman sandals with a nice tee. Also maxi dresses for work.

Persiana · 01/07/2023 08:06

I either do shorts with an oversized shirt when it's just about warm enough for legs to be out, but not full on hot summer weather. On more in-between days a lot of wide leg trousers in a thin fabric with a t shirt, or sometimes a dress. These can both have a jacket on top

Cheztwix · 01/07/2023 08:09

This is the first summer since I’ve put on weight that I’m actually enjoying getting dressed and feeling nice in what I’m wearing. Lots of maxi skirts (linen or denim) and tshirts.

Love that dress @octoberafternoons

What is sizing like please? Great price

PurpleParrotfish · 01/07/2023 08:18

I’ve got wide legged dark jeans (from M&S) which I find are surprisingly wearable on cool summer days because they are loose, and either sandals or trainers look fine with them.

I’m also thinking of getting more loose soft summer trousers to see if I can make those into a smarter look. I’ve one pair that are a bit harem pants style and I love them but they are getting faded and I do feel a bit like I’m wearing pyjamas!

Love that dress @octoberafternoons

What is sizing like please? Great price

I'm 12/14 and got one in Medium and one in Large. The Medium is a little tighter on top so I prefer the Large when worn on its own. Layered with a shirt on top either size is fine. The shape looks really lovely and it's super easy to to wash and quick to dry. I'm tempted to get a third one 😂

whatever1980 · 01/07/2023 11:09

Thanks @octoberafternoons at that price and the great reviews I think id be tempted to get them in every colour!

DollyTheFluffyOne · 01/07/2023 11:20

Yesterday it was very muggy despite lower temperatures than we have been having ( SE here) . I still wore a summer dress and took an umbrella as I could not face putting my legs into jeans after so long! I noticed while out yesterday at a seaside town that several young women had shorts or short dresses on with very natural looking tights which gave their legs a light sheen. other than this it was longer dresses or cargo pants and then a few culprits all in black and with boots.

DollyTheFluffyOne · 01/07/2023 11:22

SiobahnRoy · 01/07/2023 07:02

Now I love this but I can't really buy another dress, can I? 🤨

SiobahnRoy · 01/07/2023 11:32

At that price it’s almost free @DollyTheFluffyOne

Mushroo · 01/07/2023 11:55

This is so helpful thank you everyone. I think i need some more dresses and to get more comfortable with layering. Also tempted by some culottes which feels a bit more exciting than jeans

My uniform is a n oversized long sleeved shirt with Mom shorts in blue or black denim.
it would totally work with cropped cargo trousers-I’ve got some comfy M& S ones
