Fringe too short AGAIN

Runaround50 · 30/06/2023 17:54

It's happened again!
Went to hairdresser, asked for fringe trim which sits on my eye brow. She's cut it about 10ft from my eye brow!!

Okay, slight exaggeration, but oh my god, it looks awful!!

Urrghh.. avoiding mirrors for 2 weeks now! 😬

Any other tips to disguise hideous fringe??

Sunglasses

Coastalcreeksider · 30/06/2023 18:04

I've had this so many times, I now do it myself a few days before appointment and tell her to just snip the ends to tidy it.

Don't get me started on not blow drying it how I ask either ... 🙄

Flymetothetoon · 30/06/2023 18:18

Ha this is why I haven't visited a hairdresser since 2020 - I feel your pain OP

Runaround50 · 30/06/2023 18:20

@Coastalcreeksider yes it's awful isn't it. I can't do much other than part it slightly.

Why can't hairdressers just listen?

Runaround50 · 30/06/2023 18:22

@Flymetothetoon My actual hairdresser is okay. But this one who just did my fringe, crikey, she should be sacked!

I will make a note of telling them I do not want this person anywhere near my fringe! 😬

Wear it as curtains for a couple of weeks.

Arewehumanorarewecupboards · 30/06/2023 18:28

I have one person that I trust with my fringe. Although I do do it myself sometimes.

Runaround50 · 30/06/2023 18:31

Curtains it is! 🙄

Once it was cut so short that a male colleague commented I looked like Wendolene from Wallace and Gromit.

Gee, thanks for that 😁

Oblomov23 · 30/06/2023 18:32

Why don't you tell her. Why don't you speak up?

thenightsky · 30/06/2023 18:36

I prefer it cut just slightly too short as it grows so fast that I end up hacking lumps out of it myself with sewing scissors! Half an inch too short gives me an extra couple of weeks of not having to touch it.

Yes but there's a bit shorter and then there's the Dave from Slade look.

😅Sorry I had to look up that picture!! But oh dear! It will soon grow a little maybe use hair straightners to flatten and lengthen the fringe!!

Runaround50 · 30/06/2023 18:48

Wendolene.. 😂😂 just had to laugh at that one!

Why don't I speak up? Erm because the damage has been done now. Obviously I won't be opting for that hair dresser again! I was/am very tired today and just wasn't looking too closely, until I I got in my car.

It only happened once many haircuts ago but that's why I always cut it myself now and just ask her to tidy the ends. It's safer.

TheFormidableMrsC · 30/06/2023 19:06

Have you got some straighteners? If mine is a little short then using them makes it sit a little longer.

DollyTheFluffyOne · 30/06/2023 19:34

My stylist always waits until the very last minute to cut my fringe ie when it is dry . He does it bit by bit and I always say below my eyebrows.

NinjaTurtIe · 30/06/2023 20:40

Pin it back, wear headbands or hats. It should be longer in 2 to 3 weeks.

QueenOfWeeds · 30/06/2023 20:43

I once tried a new (chain, well known, overpriced) salon because they had a good new client opening offer on. Total disaster of a fringe. I went to another salon nearby a few days later to have it fixed and at the end the stylist patted me on the head and said “there we go, no more bucket hair for you!” Apparently they had had several new clients off the back of coming in to have things fixed.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 30/06/2023 20:48

I don't know OP, you might be very trendy. All the arty students around here seem to be sporting very wide, short fringes, cut very bluntly.

Put on some dungarees and have your nose pierced. Grin

Runaround50 · 30/06/2023 20:58

@PolkadotsAndMoonbeams good thinking! Somehow I need to transform from 52 year old knackered looking menopausal old hag, to a young trendy art student! 😁

Here goes!

Going to experiment with a few
" looks " this weekend. Desperately looking for other members of the short fringe brigade!

I feel your pain! I only ever cut my own fringe now - it grows so fast I have to do it nearly every week
You can look at videos on YouTube etc for cutting your own, I've even done the length and layers now x

MaidOfSteel · 30/06/2023 23:41

My hairdresser dries and finishes my hair before she cuts my fringe, so we can avoid the awful too-short thing.
