Turkey neck - what actually worked and lasted?

EauNeu · 15/06/2023 17:48

I am in the middle of losing weight- 4 stone total to lose and i am 3 stone in. All of a sudden in the last couple of weeks my neck is looking so scraggy where my double chin has suddenly disappeared - it's all I can see when I look in the mirror and it's upsetting me more than I can say

Has anyone successfully regained a nice clean jawline/smooth neck by any means and if so what did you do and how long did it last? I'll consider anything

I am 2 weeks into using Strivectin advanced neck cream which has a temporary effect but when it wears off, it's worse than ever.

grateful for any help and advice

I'm sorry but I don't think any cream will reverse extreme sagging or jowling. And I say that as someone who is into skincare, it really doesn't have any affect on the deeper layers of skin or facia, which is what your talking about.

You say you are in the middle of losing weight, it is possible that your skin will sort of bounce back a bit over time, and improve slightly but really the only thing that 'actually works' for stuff like this is surgery.

FoxtrotOscarFoxtrotOscar · 15/06/2023 18:48

You could try microneedling.
My practitioner also treated my neck.
I've had 2 treatments a few weeks apart, quite costly at around €500 a time, but will probably go for another after the summer.

SaveMeFromForearms · 15/06/2023 18:56

Same! Lost 4 stone, begin to feel like I look good...turkey neck appeared. 🙄

HappyAsASandboy · 15/06/2023 19:02

Look for face yoga exercises. I think they have made a difference to me, though I am only just beginning to get excess skin there due to age (mid 40s).

LaSelkie · 15/06/2023 19:04

A gua sha? I have the same problem, nothing really works :-(

GettingStuffed · 15/06/2023 19:09

Prai ageless neck and throat cream stops the dry appearance of crepey skin.

CinnamonSodaPop · 15/06/2023 19:32

I've heard Lady's Mantle cream helps with skin elasticity. Gonna try it myself.

BookLover7777 · 15/06/2023 19:39

I think if you're losing seven stone you are likely to end up with a wattle neck, but you should definitely try facial yoga and once you're at your goal weight you could explore having a non-surgical neck lift. I'm planning one as I age!

EauNeu · 15/06/2023 21:14

Thanks all

I'm losing 4 stone in all, I've done 3 so 1 more to go.

Exactly as you said saveme.. Was feeling great now this has knocked me..

Interesting about the microneedling foxtroscar, is it working for you? Is it subtle or can you see a difference and how long did it take?

Mine is super visible to me but I am not sure how much it's in my head. It's uncomfortable though
.I can feel the skin dragging..!

I know in my rational mind that the creams don't really help but as I said I'd try anything

Me too, I look like a deflated balloon! 🙄 trying to focus on the rest of me rather than my neck.

I keep thinking about buying this - how good is it?

Tourmalines · 16/06/2023 02:23

Sorry to say but nothing will work . The only thing is a surgical neck lift .

seawitchhair · 16/06/2023 02:24

I would stop losing weight, in your shoes. Let the skin settle. You could try doing this sort of thing. It says it's for jaw but does tone under the neck, also:

Quick Workout to Tone Your Jaw

Are you looking for a quick workout to tone your jaw and get rid of that double chin? Let me present to you this simple exercise you can use to tone your jaw...

I'm in the same position although have lost weight through illness.

What can I do about a wrinkly chest? (Nothing I suspect, other than high necked clothes!).

I think it's part genetic and part sun damage. It started getting creased in my 20s 😭.

I feel like I need some all over body tape tape to hoik up where needed!!

DailyEnergyCrisis · 16/06/2023 03:16

Profhilo injections every 3-4 months, expensive but totally worth it. I was the same- lost a significant amount of weight and hated my neck, it’s made a huge difference.

Mitherer · 16/06/2023 06:13

I am not sure if this will make any difference but worth a try to improve elasticity. I have noticed tech neck rings developing, age 44. Made worse by a retinol burn.

Around the same time I needed to step down my skincare budget, and instead of French pharmacy went to Nivea night cream, rose one, for about a £5 from Saver. When I noticed massive improvement, I could not believe it as this is the only thing I have changed and not even intentionally for this purpose. I have now bought a Nivea day cream for the neck only, too rich for the face.

FoxtrotOscarFoxtrotOscar · 16/06/2023 07:38

A microneedling session takes around 45mins to an hour.
Lidocaine cream an hour beforehand to numb entire face and neck. I had barely any redness afterwards. It stimulates collagen production.
For mid-50s, my jawline and neck are not too bad, then again, I'm pretty strict about using a high SPF every day.
It is pricey but I will do another session or two in the autumn.

How long does the profilho take to show a difference?

Watching with interest, I’m only 36 but have lost nearly 16st in weight and have a very noticeable Turkey neck where my double chin used to be. Kinda resigned to the idea that it’s going to need to be some form of surgical face lift in the future, but I’m also going to give Profhilo a try. Have had it in my face before but not my neck.

Smartnugget · 16/06/2023 11:22

I have had the first of 3 skin booster injections. So far all looks better but I won’t know how it has really worked until 2 weeks after my third jab.

I’ve used it for around 18 months and it’s got progressively better. Initially it took around 6-8 weeks to improve things (I think- can’t remember exactly), and now I feel hugely better. I rarely catch sight of my neck and feel depressed, and if I do I just book in again and feel better a couple of weeks later.

I barely spend anything on myself beauty wise but this one thing feels massively worth it.

I’ve used two different people and the second is a GP who uses a different technique- the results are better and I’ve had zero bruising.

I don't suppose you're in the north and would make a recommendation? I'd be super grateful - DM me if so

What is Profilho, injections similar to Botox?
