Are waterfall jackets back?

A local shop was advertising their new waterfall jackets, I thought ooh they look a bit dated. DS’s GF who is very young and trendy, has just turned up in one. Then looking for a jacket online to wear next weekend and I’ve spotted a few. I’m being drawn in but I am of the age, body shape and appearance where if I get it ever so slightly wrong I look a but frumpy.

are they really back?

Ooh I do hope so! Having said that I am old enough to have enjoyed them last time round so quite enjoy it when fashion's frumpiness catches up with me Grin

Is this an AI replying?!?! @MNHQ

GalileoHumpkins · 27/06/2023 13:31

I hope not, they're not really flattering with all that flappy loose fabric hanging at the front.

EllaRaines · 27/06/2023 13:32

They are hideous.

🤣

Softoprider · 27/06/2023 13:36

That made me laugh... what is worse is I think I have two in my wardrobe

ElmTree22 · 27/06/2023 13:42

I can proudly say I've never owned one. Nor have I ever owned a hideous pair of Ugg boots either.

This made me laugh as at one point my favourite outfit was jeans and a cream top, coral coloured uggs with a perfectly matched coral waterfall cardigan Blush. I'm glad to say my style has moved on...

Oooo... the pressure... of snob value fashion advice. Please wear what you like instead of stressing what others think.

There is nothing wrong with wearing what you like. Do not be a fashion victim by discarding it because someone else does not like it. Poo to them!🤑

EllaRaines · 27/06/2023 15:42

It's not about being a snob. It's excess material on a garment that flatters NO ONE!

Cardigans look tatty and shapeless and the jackets look like an unfinished garment.

coffeeeeeeeeepls · 27/06/2023 16:04

I don't own a waterfall cardigan because I don't like wearing cardigans and prefer sweats or jumpers.
Fashion is so fickle and aimed to dent confidence and waste more money. The current 'excess' material all over the place - big frills, layers, puff sleeves, mutton sleeves in trend and no doubt it will be the complete opposite in 2024.
About waterfall cardigans, come in different styles. Fashion depends on how you wear it, how confident you are.
Any crazy fashion trend will always look cool for about a month and then discarded on the heaps of wasted money pile.
BTW, Skinny jeans are out, wide pants are in!

Are waterfall jackets back?
coffeeeeeeeeepls · 27/06/2023 16:08

Tatty and unfinished cool comes at a price...! Depends how you define "tatty and unfinished" . We are all suckers for fashion trend.

It’s Style and Beauty. If every one said, wear what you like, it would be a redundant board. And clearly it’s not a board for you if talking about clothes is ‘snobby’ and that is the only contribution you are capable of making.

GalileoHumpkins · 27/06/2023 16:32

@coffeeeeeeeeepls do you actually have a point?

coffeeeeeeeeepls · 27/06/2023 16:38

Yes, the point is that Fashion is fickle. Beware the fashion victim and waste of money because someone else doesn't like it. We are individuals.

What is the point of you being on this board with your tired, jejune observations. It’s just rather embarrassing. Have a go on the baby names thread next. Of holidays, or books. I’m sure everyone will love to hear your marvellous observations. Maybe not. You sound as if you are 14.

BestIsWest · 27/06/2023 16:57

I hope so, I have a grey cashmere one from last time round that I’ve worn so much the elbows wore out. I need a replacement.

Do you own this board? Are you ageist too?
