Quiet luxury: am I the only one who is sick of this aesthetic?

I appreciate that paying for good quality makes financial sense in the long run but blinking heck I am sick of hearing about it. Am I the only one?

That Guardian article wasn't about rich people buying expensive clothes and therefore looking better, it was about billionaires buying obscenely expensive brands, not because they are intrinsically better or make the wearer look more beautiful, but to display their wealth to other billionaires, to purposely exclude those 'beneath' them! Those in the 'beneath' category include the heavily logo'd rich people and us.
It's a way for them to demonstrate to each other that they are special.

Any idiot knows that buying well made clothes in good fabrics will look better than sweaty, badly sewn clothes. That's not what this trend is about. The Guardian was making the point that people who subscribe to grotesque displays of wealth by deliberately buying for example, £500 t short when a £60 is equal in terms of material/cut/fit actually lack the class they are trying to convey.
It's basically just showing off for the super rich and nothing to do with buying good quality products.

I only heard of it a few days ago because I searched 'old money' on YouTube (was looking for a particular video) and all that came up was quiet luxury videos. Apparently after "chavs" taking a liking to Burberry (previously was a high end, elite brand) the elite had to come up with ways to demarcate themselves from those below them.
Every single 'how to' video shows model like women. If I tried to pull off any of the looks, luxury it would not be, regardless of how expensive it was.

I think that sort of drift with brands happens at all levels too.

I've got some ancient walking gear by North Face that's great, but in the last couple of years North Face seems to have become the new version of a tracksuit, with heavily logo-ed North Face Hoodies being a go to sports look. Honestly I rarely look at their stuff anymore because most of the clothing seems more aimed at walking around town than anyone doing anything outdoors. Then it cropped up online that North Face had become the 'chav' brand of choice with every Tom, Dick and Harry who has never seen a field wearing down puffa jackets round town.

I can't help think that once any brand ends up being associated with 'chavs' then it loses its appeal to other people.
