Too casual for a wedding?

I've bought this for a wedding in the middle of next month. After looking at other threads im slightly worried it's too casual!

I'm adding what it was going to a pair it with too.

Bearing in mind I'm 23, 5 foot 6 and about a size 8-10. I'm got quite small boobs too!

Not too casual. It has a nice 1960s/mod vibe. Beats a frock from Coast!

Newname2323 · 31/05/2023 22:55

No not at all, nice dress 😊

TangledUpinBlu · 31/05/2023 22:56

I like the dress and imagine it will look lovely on your figure as you’ve described it.
Im not living the shoes and think you could find something more flattering and stylish.

Greenfree · 31/05/2023 22:57

I love the dress, the bag seems a bit casual though and doesn't match anything

Inkypot · 31/05/2023 23:00

I like it and it's similar to some things I've worn for weddings previously. Not too casual, it's nice for a summer wedding.

Itssnotunusual · 31/05/2023 23:01

Full coverage is a must for the shoes as I hate my feet with a burning firey passion! I need a blockier heel else I will end up in a heap at some point. Any styles you might suggest and I will see if I can snag something else on vinted!

I did um and ah over the bag as I need a new clutch in general! I'm hoping it's more of a white than the cream it looks on the photos but we'll see when it arrives (vinted find)

What's your budget? The dress is great- quirky and unusual. The shoes and bag are awful. They don't go with the dress or each other.

The budget is very low to be honest! I'm ideally not spending more than £15 on a bag or shoes. As I don't get paid again till days before the wedding and won't have time to shop in person after I get paid.

maybe a wedge?
can you not tolerate even the very end of your toes being on show?
Im the same as you, can’t walk in heels and don’t like my feet much so anything open has to be very far down the front of my foot, I wear wedges or block heels when I’m not in trainers or docs.
Even something closed but pointier or in a nicer colour would be better, you’re a very young woman they just don’t seem right for your age or the lovely dress.

Housenoob · 31/05/2023 23:13

I like the style and shape of the dress, but what kind of material is it? That will be key as to whether it looks good or not in person i.e. If its cheap polyester or even worse that neopreney type material it will look really tacky with those colours. But if a decent material then I like it.

Shoes and bag are absolutely hideous, sorry.

Itssnotunusual · 31/05/2023 23:14

I'm a bit rubbish when it comes to dressy shoes! I live in kickers and doc martens. Only shoes that I already own that may work are platform white kickers but I don't think they're very 'wedding’

Can you borrow shoes and/or bag from anyone?

Campervangirl · 31/05/2023 23:15

I'd go for a nude / beige wedge and get a straw clutch, have a look in Primark

YukoandHiro · 31/05/2023 23:15

The shoes do go with the dress - it's a full 60s mod look! Love it. What hair do you have?
The bag doesn't really match the rest though

I'm going to sound nuts but I don't like pointy shoes or wedges! 😅

Thank goodness someone said it, they're 60s styled shoes to go with a 60s styled dress. Agree maybe the bag isn't perfect but equally who's going to be looking at what handbag a guest brings to a wedding anyway. I have no idea what anyone wore to my wedding never mind what accessories they added (except one person who wore dinosaur earrings which were very cool!)

Do you have any bag that isn't a "bag for life" - and I literally mean anything that will hold your lipstick, phone, keys and cards? If so - just use it. No one will notice - stick it under your chair and put the money towards shoes.

Itssnotunusual · 31/05/2023 23:22

My hair is a very thick, blunt shoulder length bob with a fringe

I like the shoes! Also, comfy feet a must to enjoy yourself!
I also like the dress.
I would need a bigger bag but if you can cope with small one, also fine.
You will look lovely...

DinkyDaisy · 31/05/2023 23:23

Your hair fits the whole look as well!

Itsanotherhreatday · 31/05/2023 23:27

Shoes are fine, just the wrong colour! And colours that match the dress would be perfect.
